This beautiful song goes back to 1971… the year of my high school graduation… it’s hard to think of it as an oldie… I still tend to think of the music of the ‘50s as oldies… but 1971 was 54 years ago… when did that happen? @@kareeme7 … hello, Kareem! Sounds like you and Theresa formed the perfect “marriage” of music genres… and a perfect Marriage… to broaden each other’s lives and experiences! I was born in 1953, but have two older sisters, so I grew up listening to a pretty wide variety of music… watched The Beatles live on The Ed Sullivan Show… my first concert was by Chicago, as a Freshman in college in 1972… always a Chicago fan, especially their early stuff… learned about Carole King from her Tapestry album, purchased by one of my sisters…. big fan of the Singer-Songwriter-Solo Performers such as Jim Croce and James Taylor… was more into the soft rock of the late-60s and ‘70s, though was at least familiar with what was probably considered hard-rock of the day, such as Steppenwolf… but, in college, enjoyed slow dances with music from bands like Bread & Chicago… I’ve been to several weddings over the past few years, and feel sorry for young people, who don’t seem to have an appreciation for the slow dance music of the ‘50s - ‘70s…. all they want to do is line-dancing…. Thank you very much for your friendship, for your sharing your solos and collaborations with CJ and Steven, and for your thoughtful and kind words about my acoustic efforts! Thanks, Kareem!! I saw Seals & Crofts in concert, in 1974, while I was in college. One thing I remember…. it was in an old venue… not the best… there was a lot of movement and noise from some people at the back… not me… I was with a date near the front… but people who didn’t have very good “concert manners”…. anyway, Jimmy Seals basically told the people to settle down and be quiet… “we can’t hear ourselves over the noise”…. or they would pack up and leave…. The people in back settled down…. You don’t mess with guys from West Texas…. 👍🤜🤛😉😏🎶🎸
