Hello, here's a song that's near and dear to me.
Grief is a funny thing, many people think of grief as the same 5 stages that everyone experiences at the same time, the truth is, we all experience it differently and grieve in our own ways, some healthy, some not so healthy, and some that are different than most.
This is my grief.
This is the song that helped me accept the passing of my grandmother, and the idea of death itself. I connect a lot of the lyrics of this song to death; "your skin and bones turn into something beautiful" is like saying "you will return to the earth and give back to it as it has given life to you" which in turn ties back to the lyric; "look at the stars, look how they shine for you" like, the world has given you life, the world has given you so many wonderful things to cherish in this life, there's no reason to take it all for granted.
In addition, my first time hearing this song from start to finish kind of solidified an idea I had been struggling to accept for many many years now. It's okay to die. Weather you want to or not, no matter what our primal instinct is, now matter how much we try to survive, death will come for us all... and that's okay. It's not a bad thing. It can be scary to think about, but the bottom line is if you can't change it, it's best not to fight it. I feel like I've finally accepted that.
I wanted to capture a lot of the feelings I felt when coping with losing my grandmother, happiness for the memories I held with her, relief to know she's no longer suffering, sadness from missing her, regret for not spending more quality time with her, even awkwardness of "well... what do I do now that she's gone, this is the first time I've been without her (or, grandparents at all at this point). Just, an overall sense of melancholy, bittersweetness, and reflection.
One thing I think I'm most impressed with was as I was working on it, I envisioned it as being a much more sad take on the original song. I asked myself a lot "Is this how I wanted this to sound? Is this going in the right direction? Was this really the product I wanted to make?" And, honestly, the more I listen to it, the more I think I decided "Yes, I made the song my heart wanted to make."
And how could I argue with that?

10 years ago I uploaded my first mashup. It was awful. Truth be told, I don't know how much progress I've made since then or how good I've become in those 10 years. I'm going to keep trying though, I'm going to keep making music, even if it forever only gets 300 views, 100 views, 25 views or 1 view. I'm honestly quite surprised I was the first to do this. It could be done a little better, but for what it is I think it turned out fine. I hope people like this, as I bet most people were begging for this to happen at some point or another. So yeah, enjoy this shitty, generic, pop/club hit with horribly distorted vocals from a pretty good singer. :D

Fun Fact! All I did in this was pitchmatch, and beatmatch each track, I didn't do any cutting to the acapella of One More Night or the instrumental to Discord, I added some discord laughes and put the "I dunno, whatever" vocal bit at the end of one more night at the beginning of the mashup. DJ Spamton? Yea I knew him, I heard he tried many times to auddition for loads of different establishments but got rejected by each and everyone of them... but one day I suppose one accepted him, some pizzeria. When this happened he was everywhere, on the news, on toys, he even did an album for the place... but one day the pizzeria fired him and kicked him out heard he started living in a series of tubes. When I went to check on him one of his records were playing... it was nothing but loud inhuman screaming...
