What I love about Bjorn is that he admits that he isn't as fast and accurate as he would like to be. He's humble.
And that makes him a 100x more relatable to most guitarists. They are phenomenal
He is not perfect and that's why I like him. I don't know why but I prefer being how this kind of guitarist that virtuosos. Maybe because my technique is closer to his style.
My grandma plays with better punch. Basically Slash level. Maybe 3-4 month of practice

what key do in flames play in, is it half step down?
C... that's actually two full steps down. In some songs they drop the C sting one further step down for a drop tuning.
C standard. And in some songs they have C standard but the lowest string is tuned down to A#
In Flames played in C tuning from the beginning all the way to "Reroute to Remain"(2002). Then they switched to Drop A#, starting at "Soundtrack To Your Escape"(2004). There is only one song before "Reroute to Remain" that is in Drop A#, which is Pinball Map from "Clayman"(2000).
Ordinary Story from Colony is also in Drop A# Can't forget about that amazing song.
In this song, Drop A#/Drop Bb.

Bjorn and Jesper are two unrivalled guitarists in terms of their sheer ability. I'm learning guitar and I'm in complete awe of how amazing the composition to some of these songs are. This lesson's pretty badass.

Not sure if I would say unrivalled, but to me they are the best. They basically took concepts from Iron Maiden and Death and combined them, which is a pretty awesome combo.
thnx for posting this! everytime i play this by hearing or on feeling,.. i always mess up a part off it because of the vocals interrupting the notes i always mess up,.. So big thnx from Me,. a dutch fan with the same playstyle likes the inspiration i've got from them!

Bjorn uses a custom coated set from dunlop, 12 - 16 - 22p - 36 - 52 - 68. Essentially the same gauges as the elixir baritone set

Master Exploder No, it's a special set made specifically for him because he prefers the Dunlop coating. He talks about it in an interview a few years back
Because he prefers the coating that Dunlop makes.....he probably started off using the Elixir strings but now uses the Dunlops. Plus, he wouldn't be buying them. He probably gets them free. Since he is endorsed by Dunlop.

Yeah, the 2nd half of that riff where it leads into the next measure is a bit screwy, since a half-beat open string to end a measure isn't very common. Sticking it between two 5s makes it worse, and the fact that the riff is so tight doesn't help, either I'd say find what works for you, then stick to it. Bjorn uses his index, middle, and pinky then never moves his hand, but I only use my index and ring, since I don't like keeping my fingers spread out for that long, and I like jumping around
yeah i can play it slow, but when at real speed, i just mess my fingers up at some point. the rest of the song is easy. the part i find difficult is the A# : 0 3 5 F: 0 5 part because the change from the 5th fret A# string to F open is unusual to my hands. gotta practise that more.
But yeah, playing in perfect time is where it gets tricky. Best advice I can give is that the song is played at 4/4 time, & the main riff is eight notes; that's one note per half beat (down/up=two notes). Practice playing it slow enough to where you can land each note at each half beat, then gradually increase the pace until you're up to speed Don't forget that like many In Flames songs, this is played in B flat minor (half notes only save for C & F, but B#=C, E#=F), so knowing that scale helps
Eh, maybe. I showed the main riff to my youngest brother, and he knows hardly anything about guitar (despite owning one and my constant assertions that he should look more into it), but he kind of understood it. I still wouldn't call it "simple;" at least not simple enough for a beginner.
i think hes referring to the shapes and note choices as being not that hard and complicated, which they actually arent. but playing it tight is a whole other story. that main riff is giving me nightmares. i always lose track of where i am in it.

You know, I actually just figured out how to play at least a passable version of both parts to this song (I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate) about a month ago after hours of going back and forth between this video, several fan-made covers, online tabs, and the judgements of my own ear. Even now, I still wouldn't say "it's very simple..."
