FINALLY Adding Fish to the RIVER TANK!!!
I’m beyond excited to FINALLY add fish to the RIVER TANK! After letting it cycle for about a month and a half and carefully checking all the water parameters, everything is now perfectly balanced and ready for its new inhabitants. I decided to start with Rainbow Shiners, which are native to fast-flowing North American rivers. These little fish are absolutely stunning, especially when they reach full color-once they mature, their vibrant hues are truly breathtaking. I also chose Hillstream Loaches, native to Southeast Asia. These unique fish are perfectly adapted to high-flow river systems, and they'll serve as an excellent cleanup crew, keeping the rocks free from algae and debris. I’m thrilled to see how they all settle in! What do you think?!

How to Build a River Tank Aquascaping Tutorial
Переглядів 18 тис.Місяць тому
I’m thrilled to share my River Tank Tutorial! Creating a river tank has been a dream of mine for quite some time, and I’m excited that the moment has finally arrived. My goal was to create a tank that truly captures the essence of a natural flowing river. By incorporating a high flow rate, I aimed to mimic the dynamic current found in real rivers. I also focused on making it look as natural as ...
Easiest Way to Paint Aquarium Background

Painting the back of a fish tank is a simple yet effective way to enhance its overall appearance and create a more visually appealing aquatic environment. By simply applying a couple coats of paint you can transform the tank's rear glass into a striking feature. The painted background not only adds a touch of elegance and sophistication but also helps to conceal unsightly wires and equipment, p...

Adding Cardinal Tetras to 60 Gallon Planted Aquarium
I would have given you my whole piggy bank to have this aquarium as a kid. Nice work bro
Always wanted to make a tank like this with similar stocking. Can't wait to see how the shiners color up!
How have the hillstreams not climbed out? Heard they can walk up 3 inches without needing water
What I have gathered is that they usually only climb out when they are being picked on, the water parameters aren't right or they don't have enough places to hide and graze. Luckily their new home seems to be making them nice and happy so hopefully I shouldn't have to worry.
Yup! Very cool. Someday I’ll do a real riverscape.
Thank you! Definitely do it, they are so cool!
cool tank man was waiting for this video since long , i subbed. this is actually the first time im seeing rainbow shiners , very rare thought they looked very plain and boring, but searched it up and they look really coloured up when grown. Hill stream loaches are such a perfect choice for rounded pebbles. we have schooling fish , bottom dweller but ngl it would look so awesome with an actual centerpiece fish , honey gourami, dwarfs, peaceful rams , livebearer maybe?
Thank you! I'm glad you like it! Definitely! When the Rainbow Shiners are grown and colored up they are without a doubt one of the most beautiful freshwater fish! I like your suggestion on a centerpiece type fish, I'll have to keep that in mind for the future, thanks!
Sae the hillstream loaches for the first time recently on another video, I fell in love with them. So happy to see you got some fornthid amazing tank 😮
Right! Once you see the Hillstream Loaches, it's like you have to get them! Thank you and glad you enjoy the tank!
What’s the TDS of your aquarium, and what kind of water do you use?
Great question! I use RO water from my home system. I add a little aquarium salt back in to keep the TDS between 150-200!
@@SplashTanks "Same here! I use RO water with a TDS of 150-220 for my 6-gallon tank. I’ve ordered a Betta fish too-that’s the only thing left to complete the setup! 😅"
Nice! Can’t wait to watch! Leaving comment before watching and already know it’s gonna be fire 🔥
Thank you! Can't wait until they color up!
@@SplashTanksjust finished the video. Man it’s nice set up and nice choice of fish. Quality and colors are amazing, what camera and lens are you shooting with?
Those are great. Shiners weren't available when I was getting fish for my river tank so I went with Danio choprae. Just got some Hillstream loaches and neon blue gobies the other day though.
Ya they are awesome! Nice Danio choprae are really cool! I'll probably end up adding neon blue gobies at some point too!
Omg the loaches are so cute 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Right!!!!

So cool!
My thoughts exactly!
Love Rainbow Shiners!
They are definitely one of my favorites!

Where did you get the blood/albino?
Great question! It was a few years ago, but I got it, and many of my fish in this tank, from Tampa Bay Cichlids!
“Pretty sure you’re the first one to ever paint an aquarium background on UA-cam! 😂🙌”
If you ain't first you're last🤣🤣🤣
@ 😂😅
this is a nice looking tank, what fish are you planning on putting in there?
Just posted the unboxing video! Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/yolbzZITlX0/v-deo.htmlsi=JH-d9jT9Q5XCtZr2
Amazing tank. Absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much!
Super cool tank and really good editing. I’m subbing. Even though I have a car channel, I own 4 tanks, a 125 gallon planted amazon angel fish community tank, 13 gallon planted orange platy tank, 10 gallon planted shrimp tank and a 5 gallon nothing yet tank, used to be planted shrimp tank. Thanks for sharing you got a new sub!
Thank you! And thank you for the sub! Sounds like you need to start an aquarium channel too!
@ lol maybe in the far future for the tank
Dave
Haha that's a great name!
What’s your water source? RO or Just Tap Water?
I have an RO setup that I use! Makes it easy to ensure proper water parameters!
@ “I’m also using RO water for the past year, and I haven’t had any diseases in my tank either!”
I have nearly same tank as you!😊
Aren't they awesome! You should post it!
This is beautiful man!!!
Thank you so much!
Great setup. Love the driftwood! I would have added a lot more plants, but that’s my thing.
Thank you! I hear you, my other tanks have more plants, so I was going for more of a hard scape look in this one!
Is it supposed get a lot cloudy right after u put it in then clear up slowly
It may get cloudy at first, but usually this is from messing/moving the debris in the filter around. Once the initial filter waste gets sucked back up you'll notice how much clearer the tank is than before!
@ I forgot to rinse it first in excitement did 2 40% water change now it’s crystal clear
is this a glass or acrylic tank ?? and/or does that make a difference in what kind of paint you use?
Great question! This is a glass tank! I have not attempted to paint an acrylic tank yet, but my best guess is that there would be no difference!
Talking about reducing aggression while lip locking occurs behind you 😂 0:52 No hate I’m a big fan it’s just funny
Great idea!

Beautiful., well done. River rock tanks are quite ideal for beginners. It's low maintenance and easy to change. I would swap out light colored sand for black sand. It will make the colors of the entire scape just pop.
Thank you! One of my favorites so far! I agree, black sand does make a nice contrast!
I'm in!
You won't regret it!
Tank looks awesome!
Thank you so much!
🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Seems easy enough!
Couldn't be easier!
well done, very beautiful tank and detailed tutorials
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Love this, first time in a while that I've felt inspired to scape a new tank :D In regards to the clay, is there a reason you didn't use aquasoil instead? Maybe it mixes less with the sand? Think some root tabs will be needed with the inert clay. Also, the deep sand bed, how do you avoid anaerobic pockets forming?
Thank you! I really appreciate it! I chose not to use aquasoil because it makes the water slightly more acidic, and the fish I'm adding thrive in more neutral conditions. I do use liquid fertilizer and plan to add root tabs in the future as well. My tank is highly oxygenated, thanks to a combination of plants, a high filter turnover, a surface skimmer, and a powerhead (which I added after filming) aimed at the surface. With these measures in place, I’ve never encountered any issues in any of my tanks!
@@SplashTanks thank you 😁 you know, I've never considered some fish might prefer neutral, excited to see the end result 🎉
7:42 ouch, boiling water for near a minute or till soft is a better idea then fire. This applies even to PVC pipe ends. Its amazing how much the pvc become 'plyable :o
Absolutely, that would work really well, too!
1:34 tip from my 12 yr old seld back in the day, fill the bucket with the running water, overflowing. Then, add slowly your chisen 'dirty' river or store brought sand/substrate. That way the -dirt- will have a chance to be washed out istead of stangnate in bucket/container cuaseing more work for you..
Good tip, I'll have to try it next time!
So relaxing.. keep it up brother.. 🇵🇭
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This is a beautiful tank! I hope we get to see it with all the critters in.
Thank you! I really like how it turned out! Yes, video of fish addition coming soon!
Looks great!
Thank you so much!
