Sheepdog Hikes
Приєднався 21 тра 2014
I section hiked the Appalachian Trail over a period of 15 years and summited Katahdin on September 16th, 2021. My Australian Shepherd, Angus "The Adventure Dog", hiked about 1000 miles of the AT with me. Join us as we continue to hike trails like the Foothills Trail. I began the PCT in 2023. Stay tuned!

I liked the painted footprints across the road.
Absolutely beautiful!

Volcanic rock is soooo cool! Thanks for sharing! Zero day coming up!
Love the shot of Larsen. Glad you had some options.
Views like that makes me want to get up early to watch the sunrise coming up over the mountains. And…you know that’s saying something for me! LOL. Thank goodness for that tree! Holy !@#!, Sheepdog! Glad you’re ok!😮 Wow, those views!
Those views were spectacular! Thanks for sharing! Rockstar!
@shutterbugsadventures1951 it's amazing! Thanks for watching!
Sketchy snow! I’m glad you made it around it but I’m sure it made for a long day. I love how that cow was checking you out! LOL. Rockstar!
@@shutterbugsadventures1951 that call was the boss! Lol
Love this section of trail, although I don't remember it being quite as snowy when I thrued 😂. Nice vid!
@FootstepsandForaging it was pretty wild being there in mid June and seeing so much snow lingering. Thanks for watching!
Nice shot of Lassen. I climbed her summer of 2023 :) love that area! Thanks for the video!
@jelisawiltse4198 that is really neat. I bet it was a cool hike!
@@sheepdog0059 it was awesome! Those shots you got of it are breathtaking 😍
@jelisawiltse4198 thank you!
Hearing whatever nature there might be. Enjoying the peace of no cars. The cheese music has to stop. 9 months later only 273 views has to be a confirmation. Really would like to watch but cant stand that stuff.
@GrumpyBigZ thanks for your input. Not really doing it for views and styles change. Thank you for the advice
found a later video.. backed up to the beginning. cant stand the constant cheese music. were not looking for a production. reality only please.
I turn the volume off and turn closed captions on.
OMG you’re back! I have to go catch up on some episodes❤
Thanks for watching!
What a great way to spend the fall. Loved that section - lots of solitary, quiet times. Looking forward to seeing the changes with the seasons as you head South.
@@tharrylock thanks for watching! I actually finished about a month ago. I hiked from June till August
@@sheepdog0059 Now it makes sense.
Met you at Burney! We had a funny experience with those cows! We accidentally spooked them and they were running with the cowbells going crazy down the hillside! Best of luck!
@lauriluepke4620 Hey! Great to meet you again. They were funny. They were very curious why we were at the cabin.
Those are big trees, but you need to see the sequoias! Next trip! Beautiful scenery!
Woohoo! Sheepdog on the trail! Stay safe out here!
Just gorgeous! I hope I get to see country like that someday. You are blessed.
@@richardh.5404 it was absolutely amazing! I am blessed!
Stunning country!
@richardh.5404 agreed! It is just gorgeous 😍
“There’s no crying in hiking!”
Just kidding! There is lol. I’ve seen it.
Looking forward to these. 😊
I just went to Google Earth and looked at the Donomore Cabin photos. What a difference from your videography to the earlier photos. Some folks have really put a lot of time and effort into bringing this cabin back from the brink. Quite the resurrection. I just love all of the individuals that have devoted their time and effort and pour their love and dedication to the PCT. It truly is remarkable.
@hikeclimbsail yes they have! I appreciate the volunteers that make the PCT and all trails such a special place for everyone to enjoy! I imagine this piece of history would be long gone had it not been for them.
@@sheepdog0059 I agree! Thank you for the videos and looking forward to more of your adventure.
I’m confused why you are starting now when snow will be starting soon? Especially in the Sierras. I found you by accident when you started at southern terminus. I enjoy your videos! Well done.😊
@kathygalofski6154 hi there and thank you for watching! I hiked this year from June 14th until August. I don't like to produce videos while I'm actually hiking. I feel it takes time away from my daily routine and zero days if I am constantly worried about editing videos and finding a signal or internet to upload them and just wait till I come home.
@@sheepdog0059 That explains it! Thank you
What a blessing to have friends drive 9 hours. That is awesome! ❤
@@hikeclimbsail I know! They are amazing humans ❤️
Great to see you back. When was this? What time of the year?
@@hikeclimbsail I hiked from June 14th until late August.
@@sheepdog0059 That is awesome. You are certainly making use of your retirement in the most exciting possible way.
@hikeclimbsail thank you! Yep and I'll have a big year next year as I'm hoping to finish the PCT! 🙂
@@sheepdog0059 Yay...!!! ⛰️🏕️🏆
Alright! looking forward to the videos!
Roadrunner sent me! 😊. Looking forward to your next section!

Coming to you through Road Runner/Julianne/hiking dancer! 😃
Me too!
Me three.
I remember a lot of trees in there when I hiked 2020. Amazing to see them gone
Yes I'm sure it was quite a contrast!
We did this section in 2019 under much the same conditions. You are certainly blessed to have made it through uninjured and with this experience to build on. Hike on!
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful videos! What a challenging adventure you are on. I am looking forward to part 2.
Thank you for following along! I'm so glad you enjoyed this series.
Thank you ladies for sharing with us! I will patiently be waiting for more! ❤
Thank you for following along!
The desert has a beauty all its own. Thanks for taking us there. Can’t wait for the next section!
It truly does! Thank you for following along!
Sarah, Jan, thank you for taking us on this amazing adventure. It was wonderful to see all your successes and your challenges. You got to see places many folks won't because you put your life in a pack, on your back! I look forward to "coming along" on your next adventure thru the Sierras. I've hiked them in my younger days and you'll find they are another world compared to what you just visited! Best wishes!!
Thank you for following along and being part of hike! I'm excited for the next section!
I’ve been to bear campground several times and spend most of my time camping at sawmill. Really nice area to hike along… caught some good snowstorms winter camping too! Glad you made it to your destination! Looking forward to your next PCT adventure.
It was a really neat area. Thank you for following along!
My hike of the PCT was a LASH as well. Great way to do it. What I liked the most was being able to cherry pick the best times of the year to be on the trail. Your timing might be just about perfect in that regard SOBO from Ashland. Fun times ahead.
Yes, LASHing is awesome! I did that for most of the AT. I'm hoping the timing will be just right ❤️
Looking forward to the gear video! I’d also love to see your food supply/plan if you have any desire to film that!
Thank you! I'll be sure to cover that!
Woohoo! Gear video and more sections!
☺️
Congratulations! 🎉🎉🎉Looking forward to your gear review. Now that you're back and have had time to reflect, is there anything that you would do differently? You could tell us in an upcoming video?
@@hikeclimbsail those are good points to touch on. Thank you for the suggestion. I will make a point to touch on those points.
@@sheepdog0059 Awesome, thanks so much 😊
Way to go! Congratulations!
Thank you, Big T!
It's been fun watching you ladies. Congratulations 🎉. Stay strong 💪
Thank you!
Congrats on reaching that epic milestone!! 500 miles! One step at a time! It's amazing how you both were so compatible over all these miles and all this time. Hard to find a hiking buddy like you two.
Thanks, Dan! It was a little surreal!
So much for that good night’s sleep… glad you’re safe.
I live about 20 miles from where you camped and some of the bobcats in the area make that kind of noise. There are cougars in the vicinity, too, but they sound deeper and make longer sounds. I wouldn't describe their sound as a screech, but you got to hear more of the sounds than you were able to record. Stay safe on the remaining part of your trip!
At the time, we were thinking cougar. I've listened to a bunch of sounds since getting home and trying to figure out more accurately what it was. I'd say you are correct that it was probably a Bobcat.
I’ve heard foxes make noise like that. Don’t think a cougar would be in the desert. Their primary food source is deer not snakes and rodents.
I believe you could be correct. Of course, when you're out there, every weird noise you've never heard sounds like the scariest thing you can think of 😂
I think your assumption is correct. It was only a short sound but I think it was a cougar. 😱
Awesome thanks 🙏
Thank you for watching!
Great job putting up with all the challenges brought by the trail. You'll be ready to section hike NOBO through the Sierras this summer.
Thank you! I'm excited about the Sierras!
lol... the hike got a "full moon" 🌕 in the middle of the day! Funny. I say you haven't hiked enough unless you can say that's happened to you! I'm sad to realize your hike is soon to be over! Your videos are always welcomed and enjoyed!
It never fails! Lol Stay tuned more videos to come!
Congratulations on your perseverance through all adversity.
Thank you!
I've hiked this portion of the PCT quite a lot! Vasquez Rocks Nature Center is only about 30min away from home and the area makes for great day hikes.
You are blessed! That is a pretty piece of trail! Vasquez Rocks is so interesting. I want to go back and visit it again when I have more time to explore.
