Glen Sannox, The Saddle and Glen Rosa, Isle of Arran, Ayrshire, Scotland
I created this video of our recent epic hike on the Isle of Arran, Ayrshire, Scotland. Wow, and what a hike it was!
We walked up Glen Sannox which is so beautiful and an enjoyable walk. It's such a stunning glen!
When we reached the top of the glen and crossed to the other side of the Sannox Burn, it was a strenuous hike and a scary scramble up to The Saddle. Good weather helped us keep going and we took lots of breaks. It came to a point of no return as we were so high, and the thought of going back down was not an option for us.
I couldn't believe it when we reached The Saddle, a stunning meeting of the two glens (Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa) where we stayed for an hour and a half. I was in awe of the surrounding Arran mountains, then a Royal Navy helicopter flew up Glen Rosa, over The Saddle and down Glen Sannox.
For us though, it was a long walk with tired legs down through beautiful Glen Rosa back to Cladach near Brodick Castle where our car was parked. My Garmin recorded almost 16 kilometres (10 miles).
I loved every moment and it made me feel so happy that I can still manage a challenging hike, slowly though.
I hope you enjoy the video 😀
Love, Dawn-Marie x

There's lots of grassy areas along River Ayr near Sorn. I've loads of photos on my blog that might help give you a visual. There's also a great spot at Failford when you reach that part. Just as you enter the Ayr Gorge Woodlands there's a huge grassy area beside the river and the Failford Inn nearby. I think it is still open, but you might need to check. I've still to write up the rest of the walk, so more photos will be added soon. I hope you get nice weather, I loved every minute of it! Link to my blog loveexploringscotland.com/ Good luck 😀

I’ve been “doon the watter” on The Waverley several times, normally from the Isle of Arran. The last time we were onboard, it was a beautiful sunny day, with the Kilbrannan Sound, between Arran and Kintyre, like the proverbial mill pond. As the ship turned to thrash her way back to Lochranza, a Spitfire of all things appeared out of a cloudless sky. The pilot was obviously as intrigued by the sight below him as we were of such an iconic plane, because it banked and flew around The Waverley several times, waggling its wings in salute. The Waverley blew her horn in response and we passengers cheered and waved. The ‘Spit’ then climbed and resumed its original course.
