    i watched her black swan interpretation with some germain or something i thought it the most charming ive ever seen in a while. a few uncertainties and a bit of imprecision is visible but... have we forgotten that dancers are ENTERTAINERS? NOT ROBOTS? and oh my lord her performance is so dynamic, strong, passionate and captivating!! she had tiny slips a couple of times but what an enjoyable show!!! she's amazing, she might not be a perfect executor, but she's a breathtaking performer and she's the last one to be accused of being a flat character!! shes so lively and radiant!!

    The technique of her is just gorgeous. Her body is just built for ballet: the arches, the lines, the turnout. I cannot understand why people don't like her dancing - yes she has improved a lot and was given too many roles too early but this flawless clip is from 2013 just 1-2 years after she first started getting roles. It actually makes me so happy that she can look back on her (quite frankly traumatic) childhood and think I've made it and is a principal with the greatest ballet company in the world. Bravo Oxana!!

    • @arepo
      @arepo 3 роки тому

      The body may be built for modern stuff but not classical ballet. Classical ballet begins with classical body proportions, and ends with classical poses. If you don't know how classical proportions look, walk into a museum and look at paintings and statues from classical periods, those periods are called classical for a reason.

    • @tomcooper3286
      @tomcooper3286 3 роки тому

      In these times she is the right proportion for classical ballet it develops like everything else

    • @arepo
      @arepo 3 роки тому

      @@tomcooper3286 Nope. It's the "right" proportions only for certain AD's enamoured of beanpoles with protruding rib cages, which you would know had you looked at other classical ballet companies, who select dancers with classical body proportions. No, such unclassical proportions can't be "developed" , there aren't magic pills to make limbs grow at the expense of other parts of the body. It's genetics.

    Absolutely stunning. Brava! I'm glad that she's still in love with ballet despite all the struggles she has gone through (just watch the documentary...it's quite sad to watch her struggles with anorexia...) and she was injured here? Maybe the moment you put on your pointe shoes and fall in love with dance, the pain goes away...I'm still in awe of how serene she looks and how joyful she is

    That's the first time I've a ballerina hop across the stage and do ronde de jambe en l'air at a proper and sustainable height in a long time. That was the best diagonal since Struckova . Another thing I appreciate about her is she's doing a straight forward fairly academic variation which is appropriate for a young ballerina. She'll find her signature over time. Too many young dancers try too hard to find their own version of classical choreography and it's becoming a freak show. It's classical because everyone does the same thing and within those narrow guidelines an artist finds freedom, that's exciting. But trying to be Ulanova at 40 when their 21 just looks pretentious. A soprano can't change Mozart to make it her style and it should be the same in ballet. I applaud this beautiful young ballerina for having the integrity to choose substance over contrived style.

    • @arepo
      @arepo 3 роки тому

      A lot of... generalities? Her style is already as contrived as it gets, and it is already a freak show, or do you believe Coralli, Perrot, or Petipa have put the hyperextensions in the choreography? Nope, it's not classical. You obviously don't know what classical is. You can't even spell Struchkova's name properly. The best diagonal since hers? What, have you seen all? Must be thousands on youtube.

    • @lila2986
      @lila2986 2 роки тому

      @@arepo Very few foreigners are able to spell Slavic names which is not a tragedy and not the end of the world. Many may not be technical in their expressions when they describe ballet. However, all appreciate it. If you choose to hate a ballerina, at least have boundaries which are not to be crossed. And most certainly do not insinuate online that other people are stupid.

    • @arepo
      @arepo Рік тому

      @@lila2986 You confuse knowledge of the proper Romantic style & criticism with hate, but why should I wonder? You also confuse irony and plain common sense with hate. Perhaps you, as did Christopher, have seen all diagonals since Struchkova's used to to hers in the 1950's and after comparing them in your mind, have come to the happy conclusion Skorik's is best, whatever "best" means to you? (hint: ranking using superlatives is tabloid language) That's a lot of diagonals, don't you think so? Computers are nothing next to your mind...

      She always looks so sad and tired. Lifeless, emotionless dancing. This was not the life she chose for herself i guess.

    • @alecsia96
      @alecsia96 7 років тому

      I feel that she improved a whole lot technically, and became a whole lot more confident. However, she's still 1. Extremely emotionless, or rather one dimensional in her dancing - it's as if they tell her, 'so you're going to dance Odette, so put on a sad face and do your steps', or 'so this is Aurora, so just smile to the audience and do the steps'. She puts absolutely nothing personal, or deep in her interpretations, which makes her boring to watch IMO. 2. A bit stiff. Kirov ballerinas used to be known for their gliding through the stage ability, you know, Sizova-Mezentseva-Makarova-Makhalina-Lopatkina-Zakharova-Somova-Tereshkina... I'm not saying Skorik is still as robotic as she was in 2013, but our minds are constantly working through comparisons, and i can't help but think people are paying the same to see her... And to see Tereshkina or Novikova. Because the quality of movement is not the same. And she has the lines... But i'm still hoping to see her using them to create beautiful movement, not only beautiful static images... That would be the difference between a soloist in a small German company, and a Mariinsky prima ballerina.
