Um, they get houses, and no one died yet, 3 eps in. Basically when you build too many houses they take the food and stash it in the house(this is only accessible to those people in that house), and then each house is then competing for the food supplies. When you don't have much food to go around this can lead to some hoses taking all the food and some getting none. Basically, build enough houses to cover your population, and then as the food situation stabilizes build more bit by bit as you go. As always in these games, a bad decision early such as expanding too much can lead to horrifying death counter noises as your people starve or freeze to death. To be clear I build enough houses to cover the settlers. And have been able to get through 3 episodes without a single colonist death, so I'm doing alright. :)

It's a nice chill city builder with just the crushing despair of not enough firewood keeping you awake at night! :P

I usually play modded, but thought I'll do the first play through un-modded, will do a second playthrough with mods eventually.

It's a mod pack called all the mods 9, I'm primarily just playing the mod minecolonies however. Which is a bit easierish to get into as it plays a bit like a colony sim.

I know, all my earlier traps were made of wood and I switched over most of my traps back to wood anyway, I also at one point was using marble. The issue is wood is quite weak, and stone traps take forever to build. Steel is the best of both worlds, hits hard doesn't cost too much, doesn't take forever to build, but I created too many spots for mere animals to set off the traps, causing a very quick and sudden drain on my steel resources. Basically, I didn't consolidate my entry points.

With Rain(little kitten) moving around during the episode I was little further from the Mike then normal, but will adjust up volume for future eps.

Hey yeah, I learnt a lesson with this episode, music was a lot louder than a lot of the other games I played, is fixed for later episodes so should be okay. Microphone I use is a slightly battered blue Yeti, which I have mounted on a swing arm.

Bought it a long time ago for something else, and just ended up using it as my normal microphone when playing games.

Didn't realize at first(colour me a noob at doing this), couldn't go back and fix it, should be okay for future episodes. Also I manually lower the volume of the music by 22:15ish as well. Still yeah, sorry about that.
