I’m a bit rusty on my Something Awful lore, but I think it was kinda an open secret at the time. All the insane stuff about him being a diddler didn’t come about until much later (but I’m sure some people suspected it back then even if they were in the minority)

Idk if I should leave my two cents seeing how every other gen zer was born after youtube was a thing but I knew of shmorky from all the tumblr drama when i was a teen. Shmorky was a degen before Tumblr. Color me shocked. Also, I did not know Shmorky fan arts pasted into Aladdin's head looked like this back then. Guess I was too used to seeing them in mid 2010s
Interesting fact, pretty sure I was banned from SomethingAwful for calling Shmorky a furry. Cant remember the circumstances well these days but I think I'd said something about the hypocrisy of forcing most of the furries off the site while letting Shmorky stay around because him and Lowtax were friends. I didn't actually care about Shmorky being a furry as of such, just the double standards is all. I had no clue what Shmorky was into or anything.
call me crazy... but i always believe Shmorky turned into stonetoss and abandoned his previous identity. Stonetoss just appears in... just the right moment, his characters are always in similar angles for that snappy joke. Just feels off. Not to mention so much of his Jokes is about Depression then demonizing LGBTQ, which is bizarre compared to usual right wing comics that straight up calls them P3dos. A lot of Stonetoss joke's is about depression tbh.
like when stonetoss jokes about LGBTQ, he mentions depression, or when Stonetoss is just joking about getting a job with zero mentionings of LGBTQ, boom depression. These panels are opposite yet lead to the same conclusion... and when I look at Shmorky's old comics, his jokes also have... a lot of depression.
