Honestly the one that really got me into the GTA style gameplay is San Andreas, everything before and after is kinda mid to me. I think that's why I'm such a huge fan of saint's row, because SR is like a cracked out version of San Andreas 😅

In regards of GTA SA on PC, theres a mod for the original port that *mostly* fixes the stuff to be proper inline with the PS2 release Like the fog, the fixed scaling, etc

No joke, for a someone not growing up with GTA 3, you did the research for these games, I respect that. These games were big innovators back in the day and deserve much respect for what they did to the industry. Plus you got some chops on you, keep making these video essay's. There are some people out there that don't fit the bill and honesty I see potential in your work.

Definitive Trillogy isn't bad when you mod the shit out of it to fix what Grove Street games broke lol I know bad excuse, but there are some honestly amazing graphical mods and mod fixes for the games at large

Hey man, not a critique, just something that popped in my head. For the bits of the video that turn black for a second, you should've just made those GTA loading screens, like a transition from one subject to another.

I really enjoyed the story of San Andreas. Leaving Los Santos and experiencing such a wildly different story with government agents and gang leaders really makes CJ’s return that much more powerful. It’s almost as if he forgot the Hood after discovering the larger and wider world only to be reminded by his brother that his true home is The Grove and now he’s ready to take it back from Smoke. Truly a legendary story.

1:37:57 pcgamingwiki actually have a really good overview on how to get GTA SA running nicely on PC! and its pretty easy too, the gist is that all you need is downgrading the steam version (which you should do anyways because it restores a lot of songs!), silentpatch, and widescreen fix, all of which are linked over there. Most of these fixes are as simple as downloading a small file and extracting it to the game directory except for downgrading, which is just an installer anyways! i'd also recommend skygfx to restore the ps2 effects that really enhances GTA SA's atmosphere!

I just watched a old 80s movie called Miami blues I'm not sure but I think it also has stuff in it that inspired Vice city.

Would’ve been really cool if Ryder was used as a way to add weight to the respect system If you have high respect by the time he would die, he instead would sacrifice himself to let y’all get away, low respect and plays out similar to the original game I played 3 and VC more than SA but a Ryder was always my favorite and I didn’t like how he was used late game

I always hated that Claude didn’t talk Would’ve loved a DLC to GTA 4 that had Claude as the protagonist and revealed that he can talk just rarely does, fill in some of his personality and reveal that most of the people he interacted with were killed or arrested or moved away before GTA 4s plot I hate how they’ve separated the universes and then never brought the OG trilogy protagonists properly into the new canon, we have Rosenberg but no Tommy, it’s lame. Really hoping there’s more history in GTA 6 that reveals an altered form of events did in fact take place in the 80s Would’ve really loved if they referenced Claude in 4, just a few little Easter eggs to say “this is a new game and timeline but some of the stuff in 3 did happen in some way, just very different” Just like how they referenced the Grove Street gang in GTA V, lowkey implying that CJ moved away again and the gang has fallen off because of it Tommy is likely going to be referenced Meanwhile Claude drops off the face of the earth and his story is erased Lowkey have a theory/headcanon that Niko IS Claude, just completely reimagined, he gets betrayed by a love interest in a really different way Would still really like Claude to be revealed as a separate character in the HD universe tho :/

GTA 1 and 2 on the PS1 is where it all started for me. That GTA 2 intro had me running and jumping over stuff in the house 😂 I'd purposely turn off the game and then turn it back on just for that intro.
