And then the knowledge and confidence to run a building site building someone’s dream home with all the pressure and problems and doing a quality job. How the hell did you learn how to do all that??

One thing IBS reckon is to keep a small gap between plywood sheets for movement - if moisture gets at the sheets from below the house and they are bone dry, they can uplift at the joins. Amazing video David, I'm about to be signed off my self, I just completed a 54m2 steel framed pool house / sleepout in parklands in Christchurch, with metal roof and cladding with hidden fastenings, with Thermax thermal break in-between, it was a real learning curve for me, as I only had a second year apprentice to help me lift and clean, and my boss overseeing and signing off the build, your video's help me understand each stage your attention to detail along with you taking the time to explain step by step how you problem solve has been a real inspiration and I just want to say thank you Reply

I've had Aquaron 2000 on plans before as a waterproofing option. Pretty spendy though, and pretty sure you have to have the guys come and apply. I think you get it through Markham.

Looks good, the vapour barrier is to stop moisture coming up through the slab (as concrete is porous like a sponge) so the primer/sealer won't really do much -> nice bit of reassurance though. I couldn't see it but you're supposed to seal the vapour barrier with waterproof tape at joins, looks like you just laid it over. Pretty hard to do in this situation though. If you were ever concerned about the joining in future you could roughen up the edge of the existing slab using a scrabbler to form a construction joint, details in AS3600

hey bro im a builder in queenstown. good to see u double nail the mitre on weatherboards, ive seen heaps of chippes just put 1 nail through the 30degree mitre, when hermpac manual cleary states it needs 2 nails per join haha. i used do same as you with the packer for a spacer between the shiplap to achieve same size negative detail an the expansion joint at back, but theres a way better way i found!!!!! give this a go next time!!. it takes longer in the beginning but we mark our setout on the wall, we make a story rod with the weatherboard spacings (112m example) we then use this, and place it on the wall while trying to achieve decent size boards around windows and each corner, once were happy with setout we transfer the story rod marks on the top cavity battern, then the bottom. then ping chalk lines top to bottom on cavity battern marks, this takes longer at the start, but it speeds it up and turns out mint, this way theres no need for a straightedge an level or datum lines and you don't even need a packer to place in-between the shiplap. also another benifit to this way is u can start wherever on the wall... u dont need to start in 1 corner and work ur way along... we usually have 1 guy doing the fiddly boards around windows, then another guy doing the easy straight boards while on the same wall... builders from across the road must look at us an go... hmmm wtf are these guys doing haha, works fkn great bro give it a crack cheers

i always notice with j frame lvl frames that every single frame has a bow on each end of the wall, the factory always cuts the nogs to big on the ends, an we always have to go through hit the nogs out then re cut new ones so the ends are straight. pain in the ass lol

Why did you stop that first step short of the deck? Looks very odd? And guessing you'll now have to have a small return on your railing to stop people stepping off there.
