Disassemble Soda Stream, fix pressure relief valve. V2.0
Переглядів 21 тис.2 роки тому
If your soda stream is relieving pressure from system before bottle is fully carbonated then the spring in relief valve has backed off and needs to be tightened up. @sodastream your commercials are insincere if people are throwing out your equipment after 6 months. Any quality assurance tests would have seen this so this leaves only one answer. It's on purpose.

In your earlier video, wasn't the black valve the pressure relief? That being said, it was definitely the red side that was spewing water for me. I ended up throwing a small screw in there with the spring, essentially disabling the whole feature. I remember adding glue to the black side a while back for a similar issue, don't recall exactly why, or what the specific differences are between the two valves, but I can now pressurize my bottles without any leakage. Didn't need to disassemble the entire machine, though. Only had to remove the top front assembly.

It seems like the whole absurdity of a Sodastream could be simplified down to a very compact item. I mean all you really need is a hose that goes from the co2 bottle to a cap with a pressure gauge.

Bro - I found the SIMPLEST way if you are really DIY person. 1) remove wheel. 2) remove brake line and brake sensor also. 3) Remove bolt of top end sway bar link. 4) Remove strut bolt at knuckl. 5) no need to remove anything else 5) spray wd40 around knuckle strut joint. 6). Place manual wheel jack between knuckle and top bottom end of strut. Facing sideway. Start screw in to expand jack which will compress and push strut upward and knuckle towards floor. 7) when you see strut almost out at knuckle, slightly careful to push away using pry bar. Knuckle will bounce up slightly and quickly due to control arm pressure upward. 8)removal 3 bolts under the hood and remove strut. 1) slide new strut in place at top end and loosely secure 3 bolts to have some free movement 10) next use long wood 6x2 piece to push/compress strut. This time Place jack on floor and wood between knuckle and tie rod. Place Wood upper end to securely at bottom end where spring end. Wood bottom end on the jack. Start compressing strut expanding jack. After enough compress smoothly slide/position strut into knuckle. Let the jack go. That is it. Finish rest. This is simplest so far without removing any joints that I found, but tricky to compress and need good hand skills. GOOD LUCK. You may Alternatively use strut compression tool instead of wood and jack for removal. Buy Complete strut on eBay

this helped me. BUT...mine was very different even though it looks like the same model.... but valves setup looks different. the end of my relief valve was red. and installed on the left side. the other valve on my right is not brass but has a black plastic fitting with an alan (hex) internal socket. my red one was out all the way pulled out the valve and added teflon tape. if it backs out again i'll use HotGlue. you dont want to use superglue because if that gets jambed up with sugars etc it could be a dangerous scenario. you want to be able to take it apart to clean it.

This fix definitely helped with my Soda Stream, although I don't think the seals are quite as good as when the unit was new. If I screw the piece in any further I might not be able to grab it with my pliers anymore. One thing I noticed when I took the front cover off my unit was that the springs on the relief valves are always under compression when the bottle-mount flap is in the open position, and are only released when the flap is moved to a closed position (such as when a bottle is mounted and made ready for water carbonization). So, from now on, I'm going to keep the flap in a closed position when the unit is not being used. I'm wondering if the springs might have deformed over time due to being under constant compression except when actually carbonating water. Anyway, this was a very useful video, I learned a lot from it. Thank you!

    • @jonnyfleur81

If it's leaking from canister insert point then try different bottle. Otherwise your bleed valve or one of the tubes that carries C02 has failed. There are multiple point in the system that have buttons triggered by engaging system. Take off the trim pieces and ensure they are functioning as you press the lever down.

Thanks for the video. The pressure relief valve on my Sodastream Genesis started leaking, I think from some dirt getting in to the valve. It is quite easy to disassemble compared to this model. I was stuck at the part where the valve needed to be unscrewed since it's not easy to grip the bottom part that unscrews. This video showed that the valve would eventually come apart, and with some bigger pliers I was able to get ahold of it enough to break the glue that was holding it from the factory. I then used a 3/16 drill bit to clean out the thread seat (just twisting by hand), then reassembled. I was able to tighten the valve back up using the pliers but I didn't put any glue on it. I think it will eventually loosen up again, so i'll probably just retighten it. If I glue the valve back together, and it leaks again (debris in valve seat), there's no way i'll be able to get it loosened again. What i'd like to do is find the replacement valve, but in the short term this should be ok.
