This video covers the basic operation of the most common types of RV water heaters. It covers how to use them and how they work. It is intended to help those new to the RV experience understand their particular water heater. It can also help those trying to decide which style of water heater is best for them.
I cover both the propane and the propane/electric tank style,
I cover the tankless style and
the motoraid motor home water heater.

7:19 - Propane/electric RV water heater and how to use them
11:01 - Tankless RV water heaters and how to use them
13:21 - Motoraid RV water heaters and how they work
Why there is a photo instead of an actual tankless water heater in this video.
I made every effort to get access to a tankless water heater for this video. I advertised on a number of FB groups, I advertised in my local RV park as well as the local RV dealer ( RV Country in Laughlin, Nv. ) No one was willing to give me access to their tankless water heater.

Improving a toy hauler switch panel
Переглядів 31Місяць тому
The garage in most toy haulers has a group of switches to control things like inside & outside lights along with awnings & the Happi Jac bed. The switches are next to impossible to see at night. Often times even the overhead lights are controlled by a tiny switch that is hard to find in the dark. This video addresses those issues. I show how to relocate the overhead light switch and add “instru...

Wow. Good explanation on how to use it. Thank you!
Thanks
Very helpful, and to the point.
Another one? Sheesh. Go watch our 18 month ordeal! 😢
I’m sorry about your problems. I hope things have been resolved. I believe more information on this that’s available the better.
Amazon product promotion Hello, I am a promoter for an Amazon product company. I would like to establish contact with you. Our company's products need you to promote them. We can provide products and promotion fees.
Great video, unfortunately my Lippert exit window uses a different bottom flange, which has no place for the crank wheels to insert into. But great idea.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry it didn’t help you.
or.,.,... you can do something like this. (6-Outlet Smart Surge Protector with 4 USB Ports, White, Powered by Hubspace , at Home Depot)
Yes you can. I’m not a fan of adapters. All those types of adapters I’ve seen want you to attach them to the outlet with a center screw. 6 way adapters just increase the risk of overloading the outlet. If you prefer that approach more power to you.
Sweet
Is there any way I can send you a private comment/compliment? Not thinking it’s right to put on this video
How’d you wire the fuel pump and shutoff solenoid?
I installed a switch in the cab and wired them in parallel through the switch to a connector under my dash that only has power when the ignition is on. I routed the wires under the truck along the frame to the cab.
It’s great and waterproof too! My dad’s a plumber and he’s been using it to waterproof stuff for years.
you look like a gay Terry Crews
What caused this to happen? Just purchased my 1st 5th wheel and I'm very nervous.
It’s a manufacturing problem. It’s a small percentage of frames and LCI has redesigned the frames to reduce the occurrence of these problems. If your trailer is a new model you are probably fine.
What year is it, the one in the video is a 2021
I had no idea this kind of thing was happening.
Amazing video! Thanks.
Thanks
Thank you sir 🫡
My pleasure
Enjoyed your video. My problem is when I'm hooked into shore power and boondocking. The 1st problem i had was I had to leave my boondocking spot because my generator was complete dead. Also, about 3am a couple of nights I had to turn the engine on in my motorhome in order to get the furnace to kick on. Now, I'm using 30amp shorepower and the breaker box keeps tripping, even with 1 plug being used and is tripping the furnance.. The only reason I have some power is I have a bluetti, but half the day I have to keep resetting the breaker and shuts off anywhere from 30secs to 5min. After watching your.video, it sounds like I may have a bad inverter. Also, like I mentioned earlier is the genny went dead and when I hold the button to start it, you can see the lights dim. Usually the gen would start when I turn on the engine, but not now.
My first question did you really mean “inverter”? A inverter converts 12 volt battery power into 120 AC power. If you mean “converter” that is a good candidate. The converter uses 120v shore power or generator to charge your batteries. The converter can, when bad, draw enough current to trip your 30 amp breaker. Your furnace uses 12 ( battery) to run the fan and control board. So if the converter is not charging the battery then 12 devices will not be able to operate correctly. Good luck.
Really should use the proper Rock salt
Not according to the people that make the On-The-Go portable softener. For full size household softeners yes but not the On-The-Go portable.
@TheWanderingSteeles according to them you should use 4in1 clean and protect or pure and natural or 5in1 clean and protect. All of wich are either crystal or pellet. This is only the Morton salt. Other brands are available
I don’t know where you’re getting your information but the instructions on the On-The-Go website specifically says to use table salt. 26 ox boxes of either iodized or non-iodized. I just double checked to confirm. There are no instructions, I can find, referring to rock salt. Being able to use table salt is actually one of their selling points.
@@TheWanderingSteeles my information came from on the go portable softener
From the instructions on the On The Go website. : Step 5: Add the correct amount of table salt into the top for your softener. - One full 26 oz. box of iodized/non-iodized salt for the Standard model. - Two full 26 oz. boxes of iodized/non-iodized salt for the Double Standard Model. - Four full 26 oz. boxes of iodized/non-iodized salt for the Park Model Softener.
Thank you very much.
My pleasure.
I've never heard of this screen. Can you see out?
Yes, can see out just fine. Ot works just like the reflective film in some RV windows. During the day you can see out and at night, if there are lights on, you can see in.
If I tightend bleed screw cause of leak what should I do to go about adding coolant do I need to have it up in ramps or will that cylinder not have fluid
It may be ok. I noticed because of how high I was able to get the radiator that I didn’t get much fluid from the bleed screws. If it doesn’t overheat I would not worry about it.
@@TheWanderingSteeles okay just wondering as I noticed small amount of coolant along bleed screw as it was fairly loose, snugged it it maybe lost 100ml of fluid if that but didn’t know if I was good to go just topping it up or if you had to refil the bleeding system as I accidentally bled the screw
Thanks, very helpful!
My pleasure
Thank you for your help!!
Glad it was helpful
Im gonna guess and say you smoke, Marlbaro reds
You would be wrong. I don’t smoke but I did have throat cancer and the radiation damaged my vocal cords.
Or you could park the ramp at the low end of small hill or curb with a side walk bottom of a gutter somthing .
I’m sure that works but since that’s not always an option my extended ramp is always available.
That was an awesome demo Thank you
Great video, lots of very useful information, thanks
The switch you replaced still had power through it and that's why you're still seeing the display. I bought the switch you installed and planned on putting it on the battery box to kill all power to the trailer. The display should also then shut off.
That is true. What matters is which “side” the switch is connected to battery. The meter is connected to the “output” side of the switch so when off the meter is no longer connected to the battery.
professional installation optional with voice box instructions
Mine were definitely professionally installed at the factory
Thanks!
You bet!
Great idea well worth the effort to load safely especially as we age 👍
Absolutely
It would have been very helpful to show how to remove the cover too, just to help folks not familiar
Yea, I kinda did but I guess I could have shown a little more detail. Thanks.

love this video!! keep it up!!
Very helpful, thank you.
Perfect. Well explained. I need to replace the drain in my kitchen seink fir my RV. As mentioned, the top lip that sits in the sink is plastic and somehow it broke snd now my drain is floating around. I'll use this video as a guide when I go to replace the drain this week.
Glad to help. Tell your friends.
Thanks for the video. Well done with no extra bs. I'm ordering a new valve to replace a leaky one right now.
Thanks
Great video, thank you. Also, Brother, you shake as bad as me! If you can do it, I can too!
Holy cow ?
My thoughts, exactly.
Finally a straight forward video on how to hook this up. Thank you sir!!!
Schwintech is garbage so quit putting them in slides or do hat is needed to make them more dependable. If this was in a car there would be a total recall and they would be forced to fix.
There are better systems out there but Schwintech is OK as long as you do your maintenance. Mine has done well, 7 years full time.
Thank you for your instruction on how to operate these older HappyJax.
Enjoyed your video and I solved my 110v electrical issue thanks to your video. God bless
Hi my name is Bruce Elphinstone and I live in Australia and enjoyed watching you video on the fridge conversion. I have tried the link to RC Refrigeration but keep getting locked out of there web site so wondering if you are able to supply me with there phone number and email address as I would love to purchase one of there upgrade kits for my Dometic absorbtion fridge in my caravan. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.😊
Phone 260-768-4067 Info@jctefigeration.com Good luck
Thank for clear, concise instructions. I have cleaned the vents but not checked them for gaps.
You're welcome!
Very informative I'm pretty sure I solved the problem.
Glad to help.
Great video, just ordered mine today for my Dometic RM 3663, just got a notification it was mailed out! RVing and fixing stuff in my Rv's for 25 years, I feel i'm qualified to install this ;-)
Thank you and thanks for the video!
What you didn't mention which would have been nice is what to do about the gas line. Some of us are not professionals so we're not sure what the protocol is. You simply cap it with some kind of a plug or is there another way to secure that so that you can use your other gas appliances?
Yes, cap it. I found the cap at the local hardware store. I removed my fridge to replace the cooling unit, the new cooling unit came with a way to cap the gas line but I bought a different cap so I could cap the “T” instead of the short gas line. You can take that short gas line to the hardware store to be sure you have the correct fitting for the “T” or the gas line depending on which way you choose to go.
Excellent video with detailed information! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. 😊 [July 25, 2024]
