The Japanese Ghostbusters Knock-off.
Переглядів 371Рік тому
Highschool Ghostbusters, as it's known in japan is a cheesy V-Cinema film that bears a striking resemblance to.... not Ghostbusters, really. It does lift a lot from the titular american comedy but everything it's blatantly lifts, it does worse. Add onto that the American release of the film had to have it's name altered to.... Highschool Ghosthustlers 🤦 Is it worth even watching? No, probably n...

The Bottom of the Tokyopop Barrel.

Tokyopop used to be the biggest name in Manga, but their attempts to branch out into Anime dubbing, new manga formats, and even reality television seemed to blow up in their faces. From it's humble roots as a monthly manga magazine in a time where manga was exceedingly rare, all the way to their eventual downfall, join me as we look at the worst of Tokyopop! They made a SECOND Live Action Kaguya-Sama...
Переглядів 815Рік тому
A few months ago we took a look at the live action adaptation of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, a movie that's been portrayed in a negative light online, with many calling it a cringe fest, I think undeservingly. Lo and behold, they made a sequel movie, something that doesn't happen too much with live action anime movies. Does it stack up to the first movie? Is there another Chika bikini shot? (yes)...
Why this Anime is so short.

My Sweet Tyrant is a series based off the manga of the same name. It aired in between other shows on the AT-X channel in Japan. There are 25 episodes and the entire length of the series is only about an hour (even less if you skip the opening theme) and yet it has more character development in that hour than most anime series ever get. Anime Training Arc IN REAL LIFE (Part 1)
All the haruhi suzumiya stands we shall come together
As for the humour and why it matches so well. Read up about Viz.
As a British person, I love this and would like to see more of it. Especially the references only us Brits would get. Like Millwall. Imagine if the Oakland Raiders were shit.
garage kids? aka- code lyoko? or is that a reference to another show
Oh.. :( I accidentally ordered a Bootleg scale figure by accident I thought she was a authentic :((
I mean as long as it looks good and that doesn't bother you I don't see why that's such a bad thing
I was convinced Ataru was voiced by Austin Powers 😂
That would be pretty shagadelic
It's not the accents that make it special, it's the British humour. When Americans localise everything, nothing has a different comic style
I wonder if this’ll ever get an anime adaptation?
What this weird dub does show is the breadth of all the different British accents - I spotted West Country, Yorkshire, Brummie/Black Country (sorry if I got this wrong!) and in another scene there's a reporter with a thick Belfast accent! It does feel like the entire thing was one big elaborate joke with how exaggerated it all was.
I remember watching DBZ in the early 90s at like 3 or 4 years old. It was Majin Vegeta and Goku kneeing each other. I had no idea what it was until 2000 when it ran again on Toonami. That goes to show how long and old this show is.
Temu isn't a scam but nice try and nice haul
Great video! I went back to these days, even though I'm from Latam, we lived almost the same fever over here, thanks to the anime, and the first time I saw Pokémon Gold, I was in love and it fulfilled all my expectations as someone who wanted to know how would it be like to be in a Pokémon world!
I wish we could all go back to simpler times... I suppose it wasn't so simple back then (or even 20 years ago) and that's just nostalgia talking but even with pokemon these all we get is disappointment
I actually really like the show. It realizes it is trash, stares at itself in the mirror, and leans into the garbage cringe that makes it what it is.
Also, this is a show that I would recommend the dubs over the subs over. The English voice acting is beyond superb.
I grew up watching the original show and never even touched the games until my friend let me borrow his gameboy and his copy of sapphire.
The original doujin was even more disturbing
2:11 mt lady and diane joined that chat💀
You forgot to go over when AX was held at Anaheim and then Long Beach. Essentially all of 2000's AX history. IMO it was a pivotal transition time when anime and their conventions started becoming mainstream and it was also a time when the convention culture was going through some interesting phases. Phases such as glomping, yaoi paddles, and man faye.
That's more fucked than anime and manga i think manga is going on same direction this shit
I remember playing pokemon monopoly with my friends I first grade and having a war over who got to be pikachu lol
tysm le voy a enviar este video a mi mamá
Gen 2 was the best followed by the re makes of them!
It doesn't appear to be a gag dub. As a British person, to me most of those Britishisms are the same gags from the original and even when they aren't it's still tonally the same show.
awesome video 😊
Was Pokémon an anime or a cartoon? 🤔 I stopped watching after Hoenn
I unironically love this game
Doesn't mami lowkey like kazuya still if you read the manga? Its a little vague but still
Where the hell is Season 3!?
Tomboys are my favorite archetype. I do wish tomboys had long hair. That would combine two of my favorite things. Tomo having red hair and big oppai helps. Add those two to my list of favs. Also childhood friend. That's great assuming it works out.
I'm glad someone else realizes this show is garbage. The only thing worse is D-Frag where the only good thing is the busty rival girl and nothing else.
Was hard work back in the day, no walkthrough to help you out, forget where your up to and your fucked 😂 cant beat the late 90s early 2000s but i would say that
Ashita no Joe
Can you make a video covering all of lum and Ataru American or English actors over the years?
Only went for 3 years from 2017 to 2019 and I stopped going literally only because of the overcrowding. Good to see that it hasn't gotten any better at all. Good riddance, i guess. Excellent video tho
@@007MrYang this year actually was a lot better in terms of crowd management, lines took waaaaaay less, and exhibit hall booths were spread out further so people could have some walking room.
@@tvstellarAs an oldtaku myself,I have to ask: does the dealers room or artist rooms at Anime Expo, or any current anime cons, still sell cel art? Like original anime cels from the actual anime or even just fan made cel work? I didn’t see anyone selling that at the recent cons I went to. Damn I’m old. Lol.
I think the actors playing Jessie & misty should have switched but, i understand the reasoning (pokemon live)
I hate Dragon Ball Z: Taiketsu
I thought these were hilarious. I've been living in Japan since 1999, watched pretty much everything worth watching, in Japanese (N1 fluent). I think I like the brit dub better. Most "annuh-may" is shit anyway innit, bruv? 発音でさえでけへん奴、意見を言う権利なんかあんのかい?
yeah agreed
The Japanese view of the US is insane XD. Like, they still think of the US as if it was in its peak
Alita's live action was way better than this crap.
Unpopular opinion: UK accents suit anime characters SO well. My first exposure to this was the Wii game "The Last Story".
Japan: You can't just make our anime Austin Powers UK:
😂😂😂
My first AX was in Anaheim in the 90s, Evangelion dominated the AMV contests and the coolest cosplay I remember was Yamagata from Akira lol. Amazing how in 2024 body and badge scanning tech has almost eliminated long entry lines.
2024 was certainly better than last year in the line department LOL. I do wish AX could go back to that sort of small convention feel though. I know that was the point of AX chibi but that still feels a bit too big IMO. I'm sure I should just go to less well known conventions at this point.
My first AX was back in 2012 and I visited every year until 2017. In the later years I heard all the horror stories of the long lines and whatnot. I'm happy to report no such issue when I returned in 2024 as the process was very streamlined; I even went to pick up my badge on Day 0 with no wait. Granted, this was later in the afternoon for both Day 0 and 1. I also got in pretty much every panel I wanted to visit, which I couldn't say for previous years. The entertainment hall was watered down in terms of videogames, but was still very enjoyable! It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was definitely much better than anticipated. It was also the first AX I cosplayed (and people recognized and some wanted photos, which was a nice feeling). I don't think I'll visit every year again like I used to, but I can see myself coming back in the next couple years.
Jesus christ...I forgot how bad all that was and now I remember. They butchered manga so bad, no wonder there's a strong community of translators.
Tokyopop I think started out with good intentions, but they saw dollar signs and it ruined them.
Wow.the live action was sh+t bro..
gen 3 is my fave as well though its a lot like the 2nd movie plot wise. Brendan in his emerald attire is my favorite trainer, and it was a nice last note to retire on until i picked up (Y and Sun) since by the time gen 4 came around i was already long burnt out and high into yugioh. if I'm ever gonna watch the anime again it'll be for the pokemon animations rather than the trainers and especially team rocket which ruins it for me, gosh i remember dropping the hoenn season so early because it was the same since it started. animation wasn't good either that season.
Dr. Carole shut your piehole
HAHAHAH FUNNY STUFF MAN
Best movie ever made
Urusei Yatsura never actually made sense to me (comedy wise) until I saw the British Dub. Then it suddenly all became clear. My suspicion is that the colloquialisms captured the spirit of the original Japanese which would be lost in translation on their own and didn't get reflected in the american dub. My view would therefore be that the British Dub was the better of the two. Very often I feel that animes could use a few more UK accented actors in their dubs. Classic case being Mari in Evangelion who I believe was meant to be British? They dubbed her in Yankie though,
Alaska dub was on public access tv.
