Hi, just looking at a fridge now. Thanks for the review, are you still happy with the KickAss 1 year on?
@@natpascazio5459 yeah mate, used permanently in the garage when not camping and no complaints from us. Recently bought the mk2 version which has a few slight changes but haven't used it much yet

If you run your Go Pro in 4k they like any camera suffer from heat taking so many frames per second. Rather than 60 frames per second try in 30 frames per second to reduce heat. Remember people watch videos on their phones so 4k 60 frames per second has no real benefit. No sure what editing program you use but processing 24 FPS is a good movie output. Thanks a top video.
@@zoezoe610 yeah I totally agree with you. I only use 4k because the hero 12 in 4k has HDR which is really good in variable light. Also takes up way more storage than I like but can't have it all 😁 Ideally I'd be happy with 1080p but until then I'll put up with it 👍
Thanks mate I don't know much on this stuff, but you did explain it well enough ,because I have a way better idea on what does what now.cheers
@@ricksouth2830 that's awesome mate! Really happy its helped out 👌
G'day diesel just watched the latest ep how's your alternator going to go with the 2x 40a dcdc chargers + lights and everything else with the ranger mate? Without doing any research I'm imagining you will be giving the stock alternator a fair nudge
@@ChrisPedersen-i9y hi Chris! Just the 1x dcdc charger mate and 1x acdc charger which is charging off 240v when needed. Didn't have the money for the 60a dcdc but it also would be bigger and more difficult to fit, hope that answers your question?
@gettingaroundaus sorry mate I should have worded that better. I meant when towing the robbo with your canopy set up with 40a dcdc and your robbo with a 40a dcdc.
@ChrisPedersen-i9y ahh gotcha! We did that the Pajero and didn't have any issues, so consequently didn't even think of it. I'll run it past my sparky and get his thoughts, appreciate the shout 👍
@gettingaroundaus I'm in the same situation as you I'm towing a robbo with a ranger have just kitted out my robbo and about to start the 12v kit out on my ranger. Following your build closely
I’ve had these mirrors installed but struggling to adjust them. They don’t seem to want to fold back against the car and also having trouble adjusting the tint enough so I can actual see far enough behind the car. Seems to be at the max tilt and I’m see only from the ground to half way up my car
@@stuart8326 yeah folding the first few times is really tight, I actually didn't think they folded initially because it was so firm, they do definitely fold 👍
@ thank you. I have now being able to fold them in. I’m hoping that with a slight inward fold I may be able to use the maximum tilt to improve vision. The vertical max tilt was limited as i had the max sideways adjustment
@stuart8326 yeah no worries, happy to help 👌
Great father son time The more you do it the better you Get If you can more info on location would be helpful Keep up the good work
@@ronaldlodge4814 no worries mate, this was a secret spot though which is why I kept it to myself 😁
That is a really really bad spot to mount a 12 volt control box, mate! You need to fix up your critical thinking skills! Fixing the control box to that location means that when your Pajero is full of camping gear, the gear will not only sit on top of your control box but you won't be able to access the box unless you take all your gear out!
@@nivid01 I'm assuming you're trying to help rather than criticise. A couple of things, when the fridge was in use this side was completely protected (which is why the placement suited) it was great for the year we had it. Other thing is we have sold this vehicle 😁
Balistic nylon = bullet proof. Camer operators in war zones use balistic nylon or kevla kit bags. They can take cover behind their equipment when the bullets start to fly. Im sure you won't need that, but it does mean the panels are very well protected.
@@thylacine1962 Roger that 👌
Love your work. Great video.
Welcome to my world LOL as in "worst camping experience" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But hey, it could have happened in a worse location 😉
Yeah could have been raining ☔ 😂 that would have really livened things up

What is the name of the lake that you camped 🏕 at, Great video and great seeing the boys out in the bush 😊
Hi mate, Lake Edawa 👍
@@gettingaroundaus Thanks :-)
Onya mate, thanks for the heads up! Just wondering if sea water can be used for the flushing if fresh water if in limited supply? Would the be any potential damage from the sea water with the salt in it?
@@Upucome yeah Salt water kills everything but I guess it is plastic after all without any metal so I'd be thinking possibly, it is water but is it worth the risk 🤔
should the battery sense wire be fused at the battery
@@danielh2108 I didn't mate, my job was done on the advice from a sparky if that helps
@@gettingaroundaus i just ordered mine, might get a small 2a fuse in line for that positive wire
@danielh2108 Roger that 👌
New sub , also a older ranger owner who's wanting to fit out the back. Enjoying the how to & giving me an idea how to do myself so thanks.
@@michelleh9685 that's awesome, and most welcome! I'm enjoying this project and putting it together 👌😁
Great work Diesel, I was considering the same in my px3 Ranger however just made a small section to mount my fridge slide too as opposed to a full false floor. Keep up the great vids mate. Love your work
Hey really appreciate it mate! Plenty more work to do yet but enjoying it coming together 👍
I used rim nuts, mate, it's soiled, and I'm really happy with the way it came out
Sounds like a good idea mate, guess I just went with what I thought I could do 😁
How much more satisfying must it be to DIY? I paid a grand for mine from a mob in SA but in fairness it is perfect and fitted perfect. You made it look so simple I am sorry I didn't give it a go myself.
Getting a pro to do it right isn't a bad in my books, but I must say there is a fair amount of pride attached to this job 😁 I'll admit though it did look pretty simply on camera 😂 I don't film all the time I stand there over thinking what I'm going to do 😁
1k for a false floor is crazy
@@poeqa In fairness $200 of that was freight which in itself is also BS. But even $800 ($795) is BS although I can't complain about the quality. Had I the time and workshop space I believe I could have done it myself but hey.............
Why don't you apply something like Raptor Lining in the tub, instead of the plastic lining. I have a RhinoLining tub and it's amazing how much protection you get from a well applied product like that.
I have been told about raptor coating but rhino lining I didn't know about. Appreciate the tip, I've definitely been flipping back and forth on it. I'll check this stuff out 👍
Take the factory tub liner out and get a spray in tub liner. They are more durable and take up less room making it easier to fit other accessories. Imo. There is alot wasted space behind factory tubliners. I would put some thin stick on foam pads between the tank and the floor and front wall to stop the tank rubbing directly on metal.
@@tony_cracka9851 Roger, raptor spray is I'm told pretty good so is that something you've used?
@@gettingaroundausyeah been a 4wd accessories fitter for about 10 years ,my I personal preference is the spray in liner , I found the factory liners are ok for protection of the tub if your just throwing random stuff in the tub . But when you try to add extra bolt in accessories like draws fridges ect the factory tubliners have wasted space between tub and liner making it more difficult to mount stuff. Just my opinion.
@@tony_cracka9851 yeah I get what your saying for sure, definitely has been something I've been mulling over 👍
Also being conscious of weight/available payload from removing plastic liners.. I reclaimed a solid 10kg in effective dead weight removing the liner from our old ute. In this case that's 1/4 tank of water in weight saved.
@@sky73x yep it bloody adds up doesn't it 👌
Mate, i did the same thing. I removed the tub liner put in a floor fridge slide. i didn't want to have drawes tank at the back and kickass 120amp lithium battery box on the side next to the fridge so far. It has worked out plenty of room for tubs and, ect, looking forward to seeing your build
Yeah appreciate it mate! Still plenty more to come but it's coming up well so far... I did change my mind a few times on the tub liner though 😁
Great vid mate, as a Pajero owner I thank you for the information, had the same, issue with rear tyre, got a plate that lifted it 50mill. Makes so much difference and I can open the back door and it hits nothing
@@yindyamarra would be a very handy addition I'm sure, bit of a game changer experience wise isn't it 👌
@@gettingaroundaus the plate only cost $68 delivery,
@@yindyamarra worth it 😁
Hi mate did you upgrade the charger?
@@Livinn4x4 yeah upgraded to the Atempower 40a dcdc charger mate which has worked well together
@@gettingaroundaus thanks mate did you have to upgrade any wiring to handle to 40amps? Stock charger is 25a I believe
@@Livinn4x4 yeah I did, just trying to remember what it was... I think the Camper was 16mm originally but the thickest I could fit into the Anderson lugs was 20mm, by memory the 25mm was to thick
We live in Melbourne & camp quite a bit in the wet, so pack up damp a lot. Only had mould in the bed ends once & this stuff got rid of it & it hasn’t returned. We also usually have 3 moisture absorbent tubs in the camper, even when travelling. One thing I did notice was the vinyl seal strip over the bed end hinges would poke out under the rubber seal when we folded the ends over. Making sure to poke this back under I think has saved us a bit of grief with moisture wicking & mould. Canvas magic certainly does the trick!
@@Shaynek69 I'm tipping if you don't camp in the rain over there then you don't camp at all hey 😂 3 moisture tubs is a mega amount wow
We had a similar problem, not as bad though, more white mould with a bit of black spots, we sprayed the buggery out of the camper in double strength Vinegar and water mix, lots of scrubbing and airing. We wanted the canvas magic but when we had this issue it was sold out everywhere cause it seemed every camper in qld was having the same issue 😕 thanks for sharing your experience, it was great to see the results cause god knows we will all go through this again.
@@SuzeLTsExcellentAdventures yeah no worries! I've had many qlders experience it and tell me, really happy its helpful, the sorta things that'll definitely come up again 😁
Pajero is a beast! i just got my rig im looking to try these tracks!
That's awesome mate! Reckon you'll have some fun 👌
Mate, I'd be giving the whole lot of the canvas , inside and out, really good going over, at least 3-4 doses
@@peterwright2692 yeah that's basically what I did, Got rhythm and kept going 😂 definitely happy I did it. It was very noticeable and surprised I haven't done it already, but guess I didn't know how bad it needed it
Thanks, will remember this product
No worries, happy to help 👍
Thinking of getting one. Do you have to put a temporary battery on so that you don't loose all the settings(clock, radio, computer etc) when the main battery is disconnected, to connect it to the Shunt?
Hi mate, to my knowledge it does need to be connected to a battery to keep the settings but also I haven't done it myself so couldn't say for sure
Drifta Stockton Supastore in Canning Vale stock it. I used it on my MDC explorer that had mould pretty bad. And it worked a treat (no bloody scrubbing) 🙂
@@robfowler3824 geez Google let me down 😂 didn't see any Perth stockist, great though isn't it 👌
Thanks mate, looks good!
@@keithbagshaw3146 definitely worth it in the end but geez I did some spraying 😂
Yeap, 1/4 teaspoon oil of cloves in 1 litre water spray on and leave. It kills the spores. Better than any canvas treatment.
I'm guessing much cheaper also, thanks for Sharing. I might try that next time 👌
We used clove oil in water in spray bottle. A diesel heater is great idea for winter camping to dry out the canvas before packing up. We have done a lot of camping in Victoria in winter.
Yeah I bet you've done plenty of cold and wet camping down there, appreciate the tip 👌
Hey mate, looking at getting a camper. How long you reckon it takes to pack it up?
When fully setup, probably about 30 mins to pack it up properly
Doesn’t liquid leak out of the hole in the middle of the bottom of the controller when you move it? Or do you have to move it in the horizontal position to prevent spillage? The opening seem open and not closed.
@@petermacgregor9805 Na unless your really shaking it then leakage is rare, even after driving rough roads there wasn't leaking 👌
Thx but the one I have (another brand) has two completely closed water/black tanks. Nothing spills when carrying the water tank to be refilled or black tank to be dumped no matter how you carry it. That one weakness would prevent me from purchasing it- sorry!
@@petermacgregor9805 nothing to apologise for, I'm just a guy that Camps and thought he'd share something that may be helpful for people 👍

Yet another thumbs up for this'toot'. Seems like there are good, better, best on the market.
@@doraexplora9046 yeah this does the job 🍻
We have a 2020 Pajero model and also tow a trailer GVM 1800kg. To help two of your issues we fitted airbags inside the rear coils. This raises the rear 10mm when hitched to the trailer. We then had a bracket made to raise the spare wheel 75mm. You need to remove the top plastic piece from the spare wheel cover in order to do this. It unscrews quite easily. This of course means that the top of the spare wheel is not covered over. However one can now easily hitch the trailer and also open the back door of the car.
@@johnmcnocher1761 yeah Roger that, we did get airbags after this video but still had a bit of sag but it was much better. The rear tyre plate was something that was suggested but didn't have the money to do it, suffered instead 😁 Thanks for checking out our video and channel mate 🍻
How does that go in the Rain? Do you get many leaks?
@@ricothorton477 Na she doesn't leak mate, I have covered what it's like when we were caught in torrential rain FNQ a couple of times.
