My fuel line hasn’t been connected to the fuel tank I think, would love to know how where that fuel line goes to!
From what I can see, the fuel line runs from the FBH pump, across the chassis to the near side of the engine bay, and then up the side of the engine bay to the heater.
Hello johnathan.just watched 1 of your videos.on the winter scenes.so lovely.im in canada.and we get winters like this .have a wonderful day
Really nice fix buddy 👍🏻
Thanks!
Hi Jonathan interesting video. Are you turning the webasto on and off using the software ? When I connect up mine i can test the functions of the pumps and fan etc but the menu item for firing up th e unit is greyed out.
Yes. I’m able to turn it on and off using the software. The earlier version of the software seems more compatible than the later versions. Probably because the car is quite old now!
@@jonathanrichards7733 thanks
Well done. Beautiful footage.
Thank you!
I used this software yesterday and my FBH starts up and seems to work OK but on the energy reading output it says 0%. It also says no faults! Any ideas why it's showing zero percent energy output? Cheers 😊
No idea. Possibly some software incompatibility? So long as you’re feeling heat output, I guess you’re good to go?
@@jonathanrichards7733 Many thanks. Yes that's what I thought 😊
Great showreel
As soon as temperatures reach 0 and less amd that I leave it overnight, my Disco 3 struggles to fully start ... I wait for the glow plugs to go out and then switch on again. It takes several tries and sometimes it simply won’t run. The car stutters but the rpm doesn’t go high enough to keep the engine running. And when it does run, it’s shaky to say so. Sometimes it drops immediately ans sometimes the car really tries to start but then stops. As soon as the temp goes +3, I don’t have issues anymore Would it be the FBH then ?
Absolutely not. The function of the FBH is to warm the engine faster on colder days. That’s all. It aids faster cabin heating and a warmer Diesel engine produces less emissions. Nothing to do with the actual cold starting of the engine. That’s what the glow plugs are for.
Similar problem on my LR3. Need to warm the coolant temperature sensor and then it starts up without problems. Found some movies on youtube explaining it :) We have a cool week now and every morning and evening I have to open the bonnet, remove the engine shield and pour warm water over the sensor...
Did you find out the issue for the cold start as i have exactly the same issue as you
@@joco1223 I don’t have the LR3 anymore but I realized the battery strength was a big factor into the engine and overall issues with the LR3…So my guess is that you should check your battery and see if it works
Is that why the car won’t start in the cold ?
No. Different fuel pump. It’s a dedicated pump just for the FBH.
Hey, i have a similar problem (well mine doesnt work at all now) and the same pump is at fault. Do you have a part number or know where i can get the correct one? Dont want to order the incorrect one like you've shown. Thanks for the video!
I am using the original one that was fitted on the car. One that is compatible for Thermo Top V. I don’t know the part number without crawling under the car. And it’s cold outside!
@@jonathanrichards7733 i know. thats why i thought i would ask you. Incase you knew haha.
@@chriskingston4256 If you look on Rimmerbros, it lists two fuel pumps depending on the VIN No. Maybe you should start there?
Nice video! Jonathan, can i please kindly ask you, how you install the Webasto thermo test software into the Macbook? And second thing, do you please have some schema of setting up of the cable(which pin where and connection schema?) thank you!
The OBD diagnostic loom has a multi connector that goes into the heater. It has 3 wires. Pink, White and Blue. The blue wire is the power wire and usually is inserted into the cars multi connector. In my case, I connected that wire directly into the pump. Maybe this will help to clarify @t

I used 'Parallels' to run Windows on my MacBook www.parallels.com/uk/products/desktop I just used the free trial version
@@jonathanrichards7733 Thank you very much Jonathan! I just order the cable and will do it in the sam way as you. Thank you!
Hi Jonathan. Great video. I am trying to get burner going on my Disco also. Finding hard to download Webasto software though. It used to be free but not any more. Would you be able to share installer file with me? Thank you
Let me see if I can find it

Hi mine is doing the same running up then shutting down. Did you find the problem.
Sure did. Did you watch the video? It’s all in there. Wrong pump. Got a new burner too. So that solves the issue.
@@jonathanrichards7733 thanks for the response. Have you a link for that pump you baught mate. Might try swap that first many thanks gaz.
The pump that is working was the original pump. The one I bought that was incompatible with the Thermo Top V, is on the bench is a box! @@gazwishbone8381
@@jonathanrichards7733hi buddy long shot but when I try start wtt software and run heater I get Nak access denied I see you got your plug disconnected on fbh though ?
Brilliant video how can I make the lead many thanks
Which lead? The diagnostic lead or the power lead to the pump?
Jonathan Richards diagnostic lead I know I need usb Obd lead just need to know which 3 wires come of which pin I had a link to build lead but now can’t find many thanks
@@gerryr1893 I made a lead up that fitted into the pump. The power for the pump comes from the back of the diagnostic multi plug and is blue in colour. About 1min in to the film I explain this.
Jonathan Richards just lead to battery and webasto I have a usb to obd just need know which leads come out of obd to connect to battery and fbh

Good video. You would maybe like to operate your FBH as a pre-heater using your keyfob to control it. I am using a nice solution found at www.lr-fbh.co.uk/
Try joining www.disco3.co.uk There’s loads of helpful people there to assist you.
I constantly have problems with my Fbh locking out
Wayne Clarke do you have the diagnostic software and loom?
Jonathan Richards yes I have the loom I use to unlock the Fbh
Looks Brilliant. Wouldn't trust myself with one of my drones
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Not very hard to fly, just a bit more difficult when you're making a film whilst flying!
