    Ben was the best, no matter what the two people closest to this story know this...1) Ben himself... and 2) CARL. they may have taken away his medal and his world records but they can never take away the memory of those races. Deep down Carl knows he wasn't the best, and Ben knows he was. I hope Carl has nightmares about Ben smoking him at the olympics.

Green whom had 3 gold 100m wc and 1 gold 100m olympic had never run faster than Bailey at 50m. Both had equal record at 50m indoor, but Bailey broke it earlier than Green. Generally, the "trash talking" starts because the USA hates coming in second to Canada and the American press typically tries to down play the Canadian win. This is what happened when Bailey won the 100 at the 1996 Olympics and was declared the "world's fastest man". This annoyed the American press and they sought to award that (silly) label to Johnson. ..Equally, Canada hates coming in second to the USA, and resorts to retaliatory trash talk when their winner is doubted. Actually, both Bailey and Greene are stunning superior athletes and sprinters and both deserve recognition.

    Charlie Francis was the first sprint coach who emphasized upper body strength because his motion studies showed the arms preceded the legs by milliseconds and helped drive the legs faster. Neuromuscular system forced the legs to keep up. Strength was also the key to using Ben’s amazing start you needed incredible strength to accelerate after the reaction. Although this is a very simplistic analysis ofthe the entire process

    I keep rewatching the races of Ben Johnson. I don't think his 9.79 and 6.4 was all drugs i think it was result of new and improved training system. Charlie Francis believe sprinting is a skill and everybody can sprint litrally everybody has capability to go SUB10. Traditional training system only worked on talented guys and girls that's why ppl started believing in "Only Genetics is the way"

    • @historicalathletics689
      @historicalathletics689 3 роки тому

      Charlie’s system only gave sub ten results for talented guys. You don’t just take steroids and train hard to run sub ten. If that were the case the world record would be lower. Yes anybody can sprint but sprinting fast is a different ball game altogether. You couldn’t make a person who wasn’t fast genetically a sub ten runner even through training or steroids. Ben may not have ran 9.79 without the drugs however he was an enormously talented athlete who was already running fast for his age before he met Charlie. If anyone could run sub ten we would see more Caucasian men and women in the sprints however despite the fact that many coaches use Charlie Francis training guides and techniques they still are vastly outnumbered by athletes who are very talented and genetically superior to them for speed. Not everyone has the capacity for sub tens. Many of Charlie’s other athletes with less talent never made it - even with PEDs. Genetics is not a be all and end all however having them is what allows you to develop the fast twitch fibres and muscle mass ratio to apply huge amounts of force needed for running close to the 10 second barrier

    • @atharvakshirsagar8461
      @atharvakshirsagar8461 3 роки тому

      @@historicalathletics689 concept of talent is not binary its spectral. i have heard of people sprinting 10.6 without training and Plateauing on 10.1 for whole life. Talent means having less limiting factors. Coach should just keep rebalancing athlete's body. This how you can create talent out of nothing If you are sprinter who is more like Rocky's Eye of the tiger let him stick Unilateral exercises for Hip Hinging Squatting and Lunging movement patterns balancing both legs. How will this work. 1. Unilateral exercises will ensure balance. 2. It Neurally innovate muscles. 3. practicing body's fundamental movement patterns while ensuring balance will automatically improve both Stride length and stride Frequency. With all this and obviously sprinting talent less sprinter will reach 10.9 10.8 really fast. And other factors like sleep, stress and Nutrition must also be looked

    • @historicalathletics689
      @historicalathletics689 3 роки тому

      Reaching 11.0 or 10.8 is miles away from sub ten mate. Yeah I agree most men could run sub eleven but only an elite bracket can run sub ten. That was my point. There are many runners with great lateral stability and strength particularly from Japan however they still can’t get past 10.5. Everyone can improve however everyone plateaus at a different level. Usain Bolt ran 9.58 because he is extremely talented. Many other sprinters have better technique and pacing on paper especially in the 200m However they can’t get close to 19.19 or 9.58. You cannot create talent out of nothing. You can uncover talent as it is by name something you have naturally, you are born with it. You may be able to run 10.8 as a man but that does not show talent, it just shows a degree of knowledge training and dedication. If everyone can do an activity to a degree of excellence it does not make you talented If you achieve that. Talent describes something special that others simply can’t do. If 10.8 was talent we would see those athletes well payed as talent is in short supply however there are many many athletes who can achieve this. You know it’s not world class talent if lots of other people have the ability.

    • @atharvakshirsagar8461
      @atharvakshirsagar8461 3 роки тому

      @@historicalathletics689 no you didn't understand it properly my friend. Most talented sprinters have less physical and other limiting factors that I just named that allows them 10.8 after they start training they get massive gains due to PLYOMETRICS and Technical work over course of 3years they break into 10. Thats what i am saying if we generate the same condition of body manually. Then we will also go 10.8 and then when we will go Plyometrics we will also get massive gains. But unlike talented guys we will have to keep rebalancing it in off season without losing speed we built.
