    I have a comic story.. I don't have money ... I don't know drawing artwork .. my question is...If you release a comic book on your own, will you get the money back?

    • @inkmatcha
      @inkmatcha 7 днів тому

      Hello, thank you for your question. I never published a comic, so I can't really answer that question. However, what I can say, is that I'm not doing this for the money. Nor do I think most artists do. Start with the skills you have and slowly work up to the level you'd like to be on. Hope this helps :)

      Oh, it's from Amazon, Light Pad A3 size from Artdot. It just came with the stand, but it's unstable in that position. I use it like that only for initial panel lines. Unfortunately, I do the rest bent over the desk like a gremlin. 😅

    Thank you for sharing your process of thumbnailing. Is there a reason you use the non photo blue pencil at this early stage? Will you be scanning them? Just wondering since I'm currently at the thumb nailing stage of my own project. Thanks!

    • @inkmatcha
      @inkmatcha 10 днів тому

      @@kath2142 Thank you for your question :) I struggle with pressing down hard while drawing which is why I tend to do my sketches in photo blue pencil, as I can still go over my messy lines with a darker pencil to define the exact lines I want to use if needed. How is your thumb nailing process coming along? What does your process look like? ☺️

    • @kath2142
      @kath2142 9 днів тому

      Thx! That's a great idea to begin with the lighter color. My thumbnails are quite messy right now because I'm thinking and revising ideas as I sketch. I think my first "thumbnails" are more like rough draft thumbnails 😅 that I will turn into official thumbnails. It's a long process! :))

    • @inkmatcha
      @inkmatcha 7 днів тому

      @@kath2142 I understand the important part is that the process works for you. :) I go through several steps before the final drawing as well. Thumbnails are a rough concept, and then I redraw everything on the A3 papers, where I sometimes refine the sketch further before going in with the ink. What is your comic about? I'd love to hear more :)

    I feel the exact same way about AI too. It's ruining everything. It's so disheartening. Sometimes I feel 'should I even bother pursuing art anymore?' My hope is that AI will eventually fade away like VR and NFTs. They keep trying to push AI but hopefully it will backfire because the quality of the images being generated look like crap. I'm still going to continue making art because it makes me happy. And you should too. Keep doing the things that bring you joy and peace 💛

      Thank you for your encouraging words! Indeed, AI is now integrated in so many things, but it's actually wrong to call it intelligence in the first place. So much of the surrounding semantics creates a discord that does not reflect the reality of what it actually is and does. However, much like you, I found my inner clarity on why I do the things I do. :) I wish you a lot of success in your creative endeavours as well! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me!

    A successful read but there is one specific thing to pay attention to which are the topics you are interested in and focus on. For example, if you are a philosophy and history geek, Will Durant's Encyclopedia of Civilization is very good, or if you are particularly interested in philosophy, for example, Kierkegaard's books, Nietzsche's books, Bertrand Russell Deckard's books. Books and Kant's books are not bad

      5 books which had an impact on my life :- 1) Mark Rowlands - The Philosopher and the Wolf. In this memoir, philosopher Mark Rowlands compares the attitude of the ape with that of the wolf. The ape is calculating and scheming, whereas the wolf appreciates the intrinsic value in life. The theme of the book is about learning to appreciate the intrinsic value of things. 2) Mark Rowlands (again) - Running with the Pack. Similar in theme to the previous book. This one focusses on the intrinsic value of simply running. 3) J.D. Salinger - The Catcher in the Rye. A strange choice; but this book had a big impact on me when I read it as a 19 year old. The author expressed a lot of the cynicism I felt as a teenager but was somehow unable to put into words. 4) Ajahn Brahm - Who ordered this Truckload of Dung? Written by a Buddhist Monk, this book comprises of lots of short stories about life (most about two pages long). Each of the stories has a moral or a kind of lesson. I was surprised at how much the lessons aligned with what I had read about cognitive psychology. Took a long time for the penny to drop on some of these stories. I understood them on a superficial level, but they took a long time to sink in. 5) Victor Frankl - Man's Search for Meaning - I have read this book a number of times; the last was a number of years ago. It's split into two sections. The first is about his experience in nazi concentration camps; I believe he spent time in four different camps. The second part is about logotherapy, the kind of therapy he developed. I find the first part of the book far superior; the second part never really landed with me. What I took from the book was how to find value and meaning in everyday life, and everyday things no matter how impoverished our situation may be. Thank you for posting this video and encouraging me to think about some of the books that have had an impact on my life.

      @@inkmatcha I guess I like the challenge? Lol. Here's a few things that worked well for me. 1) Writing early in the morning before I go to my day job. Often I managed to get very close to the daily word count goal before even getting out of bed. This set me up for success each day and removed the anxious feeling that would grow at work as I thought about everything I needed to complete in the evening. 2) Getting ahead early on. There are always things that come up later in the month that prevent me from writing on a few days and getting ahead early alleviated the stress that comes from falling behind. 3) Sharing with my partner and step kids because they would check in with me each day and it was fun to tell them how far I'd gotten. 4) Having multiple POV's to write from (if possible). Sometimes I would totally blank on what was happening with one character, so I'd just switch to a different POV and storyline for a while. This was easy enough for mine because I'm writing a fantasy series with multiple main characters. Not always possible but very helpful for this kind of quick drafting! Good luck! You got this!

      @@nikkilpzs Thank you, Nikki, for your feedback! I'm sure this time you will break the cycle! :) Although, in the end, it's not really important that we win Nano, but that we get back into the habit of daily writing. Even little progress is still progress. You should be proud of yourself.

    I'm excited to follow your nano journey! I love watching people's processes, so this year I'm going to document my own, too! I'm doing it alongside full time school as a PhD student, so these tips are useful!

      Thank you, morganeua! I'm happy to hear these tips added some value. It is always exciting to find new people who will share their journey. I'm looking forward to seeing your process as well. What will you be working on this nano? :)
