Swan drama in the Amsterdam Forest
I followed a swan couple in the Amsterdam Forest. From the building of the nest to the laying of the eggs and the born of two cygnets. Spoiler Alert:

We volgden een zwanenfamilie tijdens het broedseizoen. Er kwamen twee kuikens uit de gelegde eieren, maar het liep helaas niet goed met ze af.

In the little park behind our house are three cherry trees which bloom intensely in the beginning of april. The thousands of flowers atrrack many insect, but also the ring-necked parakeets. They eat the stems of the flowers. The beautiful colours of the birds and the flowers form an incredible combination.

In het plantsoen achter ons huis staan 3 kersenbomen die begin april vol met bloesem zitten. De halsbandparkieten eten de bloemen en zorgen voor een kleurenfestival zonder weerga. Hier is geen sprake van eco-vandalisme, want er zitten duizenden bloemen aan de bomen. Geniet van het kleurenspectakel.

This year there were many ducks and geese with offspring in the Dutch Middelpolder, just south of Amsterdam. See how the shelducks form creches and how the ducklings of the shoveler feed themselves. Many different type of geese had numerous amounts of goslings: Canadian Egyptian, Barnacle and Greylag. There is also a young grebe that tried to swallow a lobster that was way tot big.

Se how the Spoonbills build a nest in a tree, which is quit exceptional. The chick are continuously begging for food, driving their parents crazy. After they have left the nest their need for food only increased.

Coastal birds and seabirds were filmed at the Peer of Ijmuiden on the Dutch coast. Enjoy the gulls and terns, but also waders like oystercatcher. Turning stones, plovers, ducks and geese, they can all be admired.

Amazing. We are heading to Panama for the first time this winter
Oh, that was sad. They have such a challenging start to life. Here in Australia we have black swans, they normally lay 6-8eggs with most hatching, not sure how many survive into adulthood. Thanks for the video.
Hoi Henk en Jenny. Ik heb ‘genoten ‘van jullie verslag van het zwanendrama. Ik loop daar heel vaak langs met de hond en was met vakantie rond die tijd. We vroegen ons wel al lang af wat er met het nest was gebeurd. Een droevige geschiedenis en de natuur is hard. Prachtig gefilmd! Ook die geluiden🤩schitterend. Groetjes van Paula😘

Prachtig Henk. Het lijkt of ze alleen het centrum van de bloesem eten, waardoor het er wel erg vandalistisch uit ziet.
Dag Udo Als je goed kijkt, zie je dat ze alleen aan het steeltje dat naar de bloem leidt knabbelen. Ik denk dat daar wat zoetigheid in zit. Overigens eten ze van de rode kastanje wel de hele bloem op.

Also not to be the one but the spotted sandpiper is a Least Sandpiper. Also it looks like tamarin monkeys live in Savegre, that's not the case at all. They don't exist in Costa Rica.
