    Having been around in the 80s as a dealer sales person I can tell you, Frank you are absolutely on target with your comments here. We loved when roll ups happened. I even remember when the manufactures were buying some of their dealers and turning them into branches to compete directly against their smaller dealers. The same concept applied. The small dealer became even stronger. Great video. I am anxious to hear your thoughts on today’s current situation.

    Might I also suggest "The Federalist Papers"- 85 papers by James Madison and Alexander Hamilton and a few by John Jay. The basis of this countries culture as these men sell the idea of the 13 states becoming a Nation United under God. Not light reading.

    Frank - I was fortunate to spend 4 years at Oce Canon after my 30 with Ricoh and 7 with XRX. Those 37 were all either carrying a bag or managing distribution at ricoh - Alternate Channels then Dealer Wholesale. I got my Ricoh “Masters” doing business plans for Kubo / Yuasa in the early 80s. All of those 37 years were “copier years “. Those last 4 years at Oce Canon were in the Media side as National manager for selling WF papers thru graphic channels. Photo / Display / Vinyl Scrim / Clear Adhesive Backed/ Canvas / 1”thick honeycomb cardboard and on. As you see no mention of A4 or A3 It’s was all into channels that had many creative options to sell in packaging and display and on and on. My eyes were wide with the creative juice in those channels. And of course I experienced the super wide flatbed print world with likes of products from the Arizona by Oce to HP Latex to Mimaki -Epsom et al. My point - I salute your continued campaign to open up the sometimes myopic eyes of the “copier dealer “ to the world beyond A4/A3 print and even the beyond the more exotic network services . Wide format exists in all dimensions and the flow of the lucrative ink and media is less competitive and more profitable than the copier dog fight. And lest I forget - going to the Sign Graphics show was more like walking down the brightly lit streets of Vegas or Times Square. Electronic signage was pervasive and galore. A different. Wheelhouse for sure but , in my opinion , the wheelhouse and DNA of the NOMDA Dealers who stalked the halls of those long ago recruitment shows in Vegas and New Orleans and KC is that of a big game Hunter who excels at outbound sales and supporting hardware. And feeding it with more lucrative consumables. Lastly - I want to thank you for extending to me the gratis subscription to Cannata Reports those many years ago. It’s an industry that provides me a good living and made many friends in who still are to this day Your publication / Fridays With Frank keep me up to date and able to co verse Intelligently with those still in the industry.     Frank, you bring up a topic here which our industry must explore more. So here are a few of my thoughts. Leasing is a vehicle, part of today's service and hardware deliverables processes. Dealers have so many options to secure funding. Today dealers have to explore these options. I would also say that setting up a leasing company is worth exploring. The cost of money is at record lows while end-users still pay pretty high returns for the benefit of paying installments. Many investors would welcome the opportunities to help fund a leasing company based on a solid business model whose leaders demonstrate strong business acumen. Our dealer friends will continue being pressured by a declining deliverable. As the industry continues compressing, all legacy leasing companies will be forced to address the current decades-old leasing practices. Not to mention. The OEMs in both the print sector and the broader technology sector will speed up developing their own financing platforms to deliver equipment into the marketplace via Subscription or HaaS models. This reality will aid in the coming disruption of the leasing practices of our decades-old deliverable.

    I think the Japanese banks will buy into this as they will try to protect Japanese IP and they don't usually like turning over Japanese businesses to foreign investors (investment)
