Playing Lower Shotover Jet Boat 1 APR 2022
One of my favourite vids. Thanks
Man that looks like a blast !! Good music with it to ..
I would imagine there’s a lot of gold in that valley…
What motor in your jetboat? Good speed.
You need a mini jet they are much lighter to get off the sand bars.
Where did you launch?
The Neck Boat Ramp, Hawea
Nice run boys, good camera placement in the boat. I have the same setup in my Bratt Jet, ZZ383 and a 212 Hamilton, 3.4 impeller. Gary from Red Deer AB Canada.
Nice one
Geeze that was stressful 😅
I may be wrong, but it seems that you're looking for deep water vs enough water. Obviously hindsight is 20/20. But a tip I got was dont look for deep water look for enough. As in this video deep water led yoy astray.
stunning coverage, absolutely wonderful run. I now need a jet boat 🙂
epic trip. go easy on the steering directional changes.lets see the bottom of the boat and the impeller after that.
No damage that can't be brought back to new, they're a tough brand. In terms of advice on steering, I agreed along with a long list of other improvements I can make, I would appear the best way to learn is to 'giving it a go' :-)
That looks so much fun ❤
Watched the full video yesterday. Was cracking up
I've loved this song for a long time.👌👍🎶🙌😎
Yeah its a classic for sure.
This should be called the LIFE river. You never know where your decision is going to take you. You can only hope you made the right one. Awesome video.
Agreed!
Awesome video. epic days boating right there
Yes one of the bag for me for sure!
That was farking awesome, gets nerve wracking trying to find the right channels especially in a big heavy boat, at least you had enough man power to get back to deepr water. Enjoyed watching. Cheers Richard
Thanks, yes once committed to a channel the choices quickly disappear!, still learning heaps, also in terms of recovery especially.
That was fun and with collective soul music made it all very exciting!!
Thanks, yes I'm a big Collective Soul fan, they had just played locally which is why I used that music.
Yo, where is this, and is this a paid charter??
Godley River, no not a paid charter, the passengers were forced to come...
Head of lake tekapo
@@NZRFoster LOL, I dont think charter guests would appreciate pushing a jet boat all day with a heavy V8 and a Hamilton. I did allot of pushing in my 20's and 30's, too old for that shit now. Great video.
That hull must be made out of titanium
Yes that is a tough boat for sure, not that much damage and nothing that can't be brought back to new again.
Love that sound! Shame you ran out of river! 😂
Awesome stuff, what’s you boat/motor/pump combo
Thanks... Boat: Jetseeker Magnum 500 Engine: 383 Chev HP: 440 Jet Unit: Hamilton 212 with 3.2 KW impellor Camera: GoPro Max
So wholesome video
I've been on Windsurfer since 1984 I love the foil I'd like to try it out you did a good job
Safety tip: Always wear a life vest while walking in shallow water.
So beautiful!
😂
😍
This is insane!!
Fun
Looks like an awesome spot!! Heading down the Xmas time !!!
That is AWESOME!!
Looks like a video game 🆒
I’m not he smartest person in the world but it says 14 November 2022 but today is only 13 of November
I think you're smart! Thanks didn't see that, all fixed, simple mistakes I make when uploading from the phone.
Trên cả tuyệt vời ...
It’s ok 👍🏿
The system works. Way to go mate.
very cool. Is the winch permanently mounted in the nose or did you just hook it on the front then run it off a battery in the nose (thats what it looks like, hard to tell). Also the gravel anchor is it superior to the rod with multiple pin style like peak marine sells?
The winch has an an aluminum base with a custom fitting I had made, this slots into another separate aluminum fitting that locks onto the nose trailer winch hole(s), it holds it level and stable. Not permanent, just wanted something I could put on and off. It is too low and close to the water, I will now get something that can slot on the top of the nose and lock in. The plastic box contains, winch controller and 14.8V 4S Lipo Batteries (similar to ones used with RC Aircraft) I have 4 fully charged prior to outing. Each battery I think could drag it about 100m give or take terrain. More testing required. I don't know that product by peak marine so can't comment, this anchor would not budge in the sandy mud that I was stuck in, but when tested on more chunky gravelly stuff, it does slip a little, I think it is perfect for the job so far. Nice I'm guessing your boat weights less than 400kg and do you have plastic or biz? I wonder if this would work on a slightly bigger ~500kg boat
@fisherhunter66 trying to work out how much it weighs, you’re probably about right. Still pretty hard to budge when it doesn’t want to. I have another boat way heavier and I have Snatch Block to try so loading is halved . Will see how that goes, what set up do you have?
@@NZRFoster yeah I wondered about a snatch block would be slower tho I have a 3.6 with Sr20 and 7.5 inch single stage here is a vid showing the pin anchor idea ua-cam.com/video/Oy13Yp3tdAw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WattsCraft
@fisherhunter66 That is a great set up you have there, thanks for sharing. I am impressed the "rod and pin" can pull your boat without popping out, meaning you don't have to stand on it to keep it in the ground. Great fast set up you have. The land anchor I use is very heavy, plus can drag/pop out if not properly grounded. For your reference I use Lipo batteries, light and super grunty, something like this: www.hobbycity.nz/collections/batteries-chargers/products/exliporc-9045160-14-8v-7500mah-lipo-battery but they have to be pre charged of course.
anchor info? Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome, I could never find this stuff online when I was trying to solve this problem, I didn't expect to get stuck that day so this was totally a legitimate get out of a grounding example and the first time I actually used my winch in a proper situation. Mine is something like this: www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/other-accessories/listing/3726343653?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgO2XBhCaARIsANrW2X2qZ_8FVVduQS5NG1ezppK1joexMZprTHXxq_QOWFwwWB5gnsU2PXMaAm7aEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds google something like this: heavy duty ground anchor (12000bs load capacity) for 4wd
Awesome clips easy to watch! Just a we pointer keep a bit more distance to boat in front wake from boat will hide rocks until you find them. Also have a go at leading its a hell of a lot more fun and you will learn a heap more! Take it or leave but keep up the cool clips.
Thanks, yes agreed, I kept catching up to the boat in front, it was hard to go slower!
What do you use for your footage? Its really stable
Just a Gopro Max, nothing else.
Does it get any more NZ ? :)
Cracking good video, keeping the sound of the engine rumbling away in the background.

Have you used the inflatable fenders to get unstuck of a bank yet? Thinking of buying some and keen to hear how they go?
Yes, used them for the first time that day. Very effective, however a winch is this ultimate answer.
Great stuff, my son has just dipped his toes into the water. We have been lent a board, but are gobsmacked at the costs involved with this sport. But it is amazing to watch How do you like that board, we’re not going to go down that whole Starboard/Severn rabbit hole so are looking at alternatives
That board was good enough and served me well as I progressed, and to be honest I could have stuck with it. However when I moved to the Starboard it was a definite improvement, weight and the need for carbon isn't really important in IMHO, but the steeper rocker and slight faster/earlier planning capabilities seemed to make a difference to me. The rocker particularly if you suddenly dip into the water you can bounce/recover quicker than that more flatter design. It was more comfortable too. It is such a money trap, I could have persisted with my gear, but the advancements are so fast and made a difference to me, so I made the plunge, but so expensive. Very stiff gear does make a big difference in getting and maintaining balance, foil masts, plus sail mast, stiff leech etc, the list goes on... a balancing act for sure!
