Sunset Coaching w/ Mister Bennetts - AFS Silk 850

Day 1 of a last minute trip to Fiji two weeks after tweaking both of my knees. I had never towed before and it was WAY harder than I thought. Felt like I was blowing 50% of my energy before I even got into a wave. Just grateful my knees were able to handle the entire week. So much to work on over the next year to prepare for next time. So inspired by the crew I was with - very motivated to get ...

KT Dragonfly Crossing - Longboard Foiling with the AFS Pure 1100
Переглядів 1652 місяці тому
Day 3 on my 8'2 KT Dragonfly Crossing DW SUP board (112L) - just trying to get used to it in the surf before working on my paddle technique. I've been prone surfing this board the past few days in mid-high tide and have had unreal success getting into waves that never break (I know this one did a bit so I'll try to get some more footage in the future - just got this video sent to me from a frie...
KT Dragonfly Crossing x AFS Pure Review - Longboard Foiling Unlocked!

I've got a long way to go before I'm ready to send some DW runs but in the meantime I've been playing with my KT Dragonfly Crossing as a 'foil longboard'. SUPER fun paddling into completely unbroken waves when all the other surfers/foilers are on the beach waiting for the tide to drop. For those considering getting into DW in the future - just get a board already! Use it as a foil longboard now...

Sharing a wave with the local SUP Foiler at my break - slowly working on those turns! Front wing: Unifoil Progression 140 Mast: 75cm Katana Fuse: Standard Stab: Progression 13.5 Board: Portal TM19 (4'6 x 36L) Rider Weight: 68kg Overall, very stable setup and the one that unlocked connecting waves for me after ~3 months on foil.

Officially in my fifth month of prone / surf foiling and trying to figure out how to not look like a stiff grandpa out there. Any tips? Front wing: Unifoil Progression 125 Mast: 75cm Katana Fuse: Standard Stab: Progression 13.5 Board: Portal TM19 (4'6 x 36L) Rider Weight: 68kg
Thanx a lot for the translation!
my pleasure!
😃Must be difficult to apreciate the hight of the board in such clear water.

@@TheFoilKook yes man!
Beautiful
Which mast size are you riding ? 80cm ? Thanks ! I d love to have your feedback about the 700 enduro when you ll have Time !
80cm UHM. I don't have the 700 but will hopefully have a chance to test it out in the near future!
How’s the pump vs the progression 170?
I would say it pumps better than the 140, slightly worse than the 170. At 68kg I think it's the perfect amount of pump - I wouldn't go bigger unless you are looking for a dock start specific wing.
Thank you for this video :) I could not find any reviews
Glad I could help! Crazy how hard it was to find a decent DW board bag that didn't cost over $200.
Since you have been touching the wing tips All the time: could you please comment on how sharp/pointy the tips are? That is what made me interested in the silk in the first place, because I cut my hand rather badly. The silk and enduro Look like that topic was considered more than with other brands.
They are sharp - won't downplay that. If you are avoiding sharp HA wing tips then enduro isn't for ya.
@@TheFoilKook is the silk less sharp or just possibly better with the upturned tips?
@@skatehills the enduro is still slightly sharper
You can't go wrong with the Pure 1100 for SUP DW. Been riding it for few months now and it is an amazing wing. Stall speed is so low, you do small S turns to let the bump catches you from the back. Doing down to the 800 is a bit more challenging, but once you get it going it is a speed machine.
Cant wait to get it out on a proper mini DW run! It's glide is INSANE on micro surf days. I was literally laughing out loud to myself while surfing the tiniest bumps - I didn't know it was possible. Super stoked to unlock longboard style foiling haha
@@TheFoilKook you might want to try a smaller tail with it to get some more speed. I find the HA1100 works best with the 135HA than the recommended 165HA.
@@thefoildesigner Thanks for the tip! I might chop my smaller uni progression tail first - really like the feel of it with AFS so far
Man that spot looks epic for foiling!
Nice! Keep um coming🤙 stoked to hear more about AFS foils and the Cedrus Evo Surf mast. How does the Cedrus mast compare to the Katana?
So far it definitely feels faster due to the shorter chord and I also love the more minimal baseplate for the Evo - just gives you way more room to adjust on your tracks. But the main benefit is being able to ride multiple brands - I personally wouldn't upgrade to the Evo from the Katana if I only planned on riding Uni. Katana is still a great mast!
Is it faster than the silk?
I ride the silk in bigger surf so hard to compare but it felt a bit faster. Let me get some more time on it and report back.
Yes 100% faster than the silk. I had to swap out my silk for the 900 yesterday when we had a shorter period swell - there just wasn't enough power for the silk but the 900 was PERFECT!
@@TheFoilKook Thanks for the reply!
This video is exactly what I was looking for with regards to Progression vs Enduro. I was on Armstrong moved to UNI and am considering AFS Enduro with a Cedrus mast so I can mix and match. Plz keep the reviews/feedback coming.🤙
Awesome!! Let me know if there are any other foils you want reviewed :) We are just kicking things off here at The Foil Kook and look forward to sharing more content soon!
@@TheFoilKook would like to hear more and see more footage of the new Enduros!🤙🙏
Hello, do you have the long or the short AFS fuse ? witch one is the best for you for the Enduro 900 and 700 ? Thanks, François
This is the short fuse (recommended by The Foil Shop) and I have not ridden the long one, however, I'm loving the short on the 900. I would say go short if you are looking for higher performance / faster turns and longer if you want to maximize glide/pump/stability.
After another day on the short fuse I think having both could be really nice. The one thing I feel like I am missing is amazing stable glide (which enables those long drawn out carves) or slower paced pumping. I'll probably pick up the long fuse at some point and do a separate review of use-cases for both.
@TheFoilKook I understand the interest of the two fuselages, I hope you'll be able to test them soon. Thanks, Francois
@@FrançoisBoujard What kind of foiling will you primarily be doing with the 900 and 700?
@TheFoilKook Mainly freefly in medium swell conditions (we don't always have a nice long, regular swell).
