Would you recommend taking the MCAT for someone who doesn't have a good undergraduate GPA and going to a P/NP dental school to give admissions a number?
This is an interesting question. Personally, I am not sure how taking the MCAT would help. I think that it would be better to focus your efforts on doing well on the CBSE. That is the number they want, not an MCAT score.

i feel like 6 year program takes a huge toll on financial burden b/c 2 years of medical school aren't covered. whereas.4 year program gives you a stipend so u can work as a resident while paying off dental school loan how are you dealing with your debt in the 6 year program?
I will say that the years you are being paid as a resident during either 4 or a 6 year program is usually only enough to live off of, not to start paying back loans. I think that either can impose a financial burden, because you will not be making as much as you could as a general dentist would during that time either way, you know? As for my program, my medical school tuition is covered as long as I pass my classes.
@@ChristinaLight i meant paying off debt as in only paying off the interests. would that still be difficult? and wow i didn't know there were schools that cover entire 6 years. it must be more competitive to get into.
@@toktok9999 I think it depends on your lifestyle, it's not really predictable to say whether or not you will be able to pay on your interest. But yes, I think there a few programs that give free medical school!

Hey! Great video and I’m also considering a career in OMFS. As of now, I was just accepted into dental school for the class of 2027 which means I still have a good amount of time left, but I will be following journey and learning from your experiences. This was a very informative video. My undergrad GPA was a 3.94 and science was a 3.97. So, I’m hoping that works out in my favor!

Yes!! Undergrad GPA is used specially by 6 year programs, like you said, because they are comparing you to the med school applicants of the class you’ll join (which are people coming from undergrad, of course). I went to a graded dental school and my undergrad GPA was the only one mentioned during interviews lol no one seemed to care about my DS GPA, which was lower than my undergrad GPA. Congratulations again, Christina!!! So glad to have you join our specialty! 🥳
