2 ANTOs during WWCW - 144th and 145th in 2 years.
@@Paul-VA4ADM killer! I was looking for you but didn’t have your signal in Utah. 73 om
I am sorry about the air quality there, dangit! Your videos always rock, always enjoy the humor, random comments, watching the activation set up, and the contacts that you make. I did not even know about this antenna company, ha, gonna be spending more money after watching your video - I even like the camp table - Enjoyable video as usual, Happy Thanksgiving Forrest!
@@thequarantinecatholic thank you for your kind words! If it weren’t for UA-cam I would’ve never learned of this great hobby. I hope I can help a few new people discover how fun it is and give it a shot!
What is it es how do I set it up
@@JayN4GO iambic master! Interfaces directly with a winkeyer
Damn I don’t have a w keyer
That’s not true at all not anybody can just get good at video games. It takes a lot of skill that’s why they have pro leagues were the best of the best play and they get paid for it. Hell I was just playing a match yesterday and all my teammates sucked proving you wrong.

What program is that?
Iambic Master. It’s a great program as it has adjustable speed and ensures you use proper spacing.
Dude how did you learn morse so well in just 7 months?
I began learning Morse code in January. Everything changed with my actual proficiency the moment I decided to get on the air. I used a POTA script to hunt my first park at the end of March. From there, I’ve been on the air every single day. I’m not special or smart. Just invested time each day because I thoroughly love this hobby!
@@Utahforrest That's very inspiring! I myself started learning Morse 2-3 months ago, and currently building my QRP HF CW kit based on QMX from QRP Labs. Hoping to get on the air soon, and who knows, maybe we can even catch each other. Love your channel, keep up the good work! 73 Georgi, LZ2CBC
Is that Morse code I’m dumb what did I just watch lol
Yes
It is Morse code and it is the new crazy thing sweeping the airwaves right now! It's going to put PlayStation and Xbox out of business
Annoying thump whilst keying.
Bonus points for the FF riffin’ at the end.
My guy!
Música celestial 🤩 73/72
are you a kid? if you are jesus christ ur smart
Nah in my 30s lol
So what exatly are you doing? Morse code to another random person in the world? Im very intrigued
Correct. This weekend I spoke to people in 51 different countries all in morse code. I have a video on my channel called “cw advice for beginners” cw = continuous wave and that means Morse code. If you want to research it more. The easiest way to get started is get your ham radio license. What I mostly enjoy is “field operations” which means I go and do this exact thing outdoors. It may seem intimidating but a year ago I didn’t even know what any of this was until I found a UA-cam video of somebody doing it lol.
Thanks for sharing, cw is the best. 73 zl3xdj
What are your objective thoughts on the UR5CDX?
@@MoseUA-cam extraordinary value. One of my least expensive paddles. Has great action and a beautiful aesthetic.
Cw rules
Well done, never ever actually checked my situation 73 zl3xdj
We got 5 band dxcc in 45 hours 😂 This is why people should participate
What keyer is that?
You are a #bigtimeDXer !! Great job!
Conditions were fantastic! Nice DIY projects, OM. 73 es cu on the air de K4FR
I was up very late last night having the time of my life on 40m! Really special couple of days! Nothing beats DXing. But you were my fav QSO ❤😂 73 om de KI7QCF
I know that CW rig sound distortion well when it gets loud! - Solved it with a passive monitor speaker and a speaker amp. Big improvement.
Great job bro!
TJ, I earned like 3 more #bigtimedxer stickers this weekend.
@Utahforrest boom ! You might need a key chain!
@@k9kjeither a key chain or a tattoo. I’m open to both!
I'm stuck at work but have been getting some Qs with the hamstick on top of the parking garage. Good luck!
Tim, someday you and I will do a dxpedition and hamstick together from my 05 Silverado.
Sounds like you shook up a hornet's nest!
😂😂
Nice to see you in the test!
@@Radio-KI7KY huge thanks to you, Max and Jon! Contest life is a good time :)
@Utahforrest yes, it is so much fun!
Back 40 years ago we used to contest with a paddle. Now it's all keyboard generated responses
@@robertvantichelt6448 Oh I’m sure! I decided to run a little and didn’t have my hot keys right for running so I did have the paddle on standby! 😂
Nice shack brother
@@JayN4GO Thanks man!
To answer the question..... "Everything" being out in nature practicing the world's best hobby. Great work de VE3DLL
The worlds best hobby, no doubt ❤
How the hell you know that? Haha
Gorgeous location!
Also make great new friends ❤
Without a doubt the best part
Tnx for both Q! And tnx for the HI Q we had a few days ago too!
FB QSOs OM! I imagine you'll be the park leader there for a while. :) Catch you down the log
This video is exactly why CW POTA is so great. 73 Paul KE9BHN
@@Paul_KE9BHN tks om! Keep up the great cw work 73
Rad!
Probably the coolest park I've seen! I need to get out to UT to activate...our parks are pretty boring here by comparison.
Really cool spot to activate. Would love to have you out to Utah, Buddy!!!
What application were you using to confirm park boundary? Also can’t believe you lugged that bulky coax in by foot. I rarely bring more than 6’ of RG316 if I have a hike involved.
I use OnX. I’ve actually found apps aren’t always precise. One’s intention is best, but based on the app, I was a good 30-40 feet within the top right corner of the boundary. I did two activations yesterday with that pack. It was so damn heavy. The Paul Bunyan park (another video) was a mile hike up a mountain and I definitely felt the pack weight on that trip.
@ I can’t even imagine dude. My pack weight for SOTA ops fully loaded is 10-11lbs depending on how much water I bring. There is a part of me that wants to do a few videos breaking down my gear and especially my homebrew antennas to share what I’ve learned.
@@MoseUA-camplease do! I’d love that type of content
In No Country for Old Men, I think Llewelyn Moss found a dead drug dealer under that tree after a drug deal gone wrong - look around for a briefcase full of cash.
I kid you not I mentioned that scene to the XYL when I showed her my short I did of that tree since it reminded me so much of that movie. 😂
USS Blueback is a former US Navy Submarine. It is a museum now in Portland, OR. It was decommissioned in 1990. It was our last Diesel submarine. 73, KA9MIC
So cool! I’ve had some friends operate aboard some really incredible ships. Definitely a bucket list item for me!
Very cool location to activate! 73, KF4LMZ
So alone .... yet not with 33 friends checking in!
First activation! Nice.
This is awesome Forrest. I looked at the POTA site and saw that Utah and Alaska have the most unactivated parks by a huge margin. I didnt find a single park from my area so that is not a thing for me anymore. Lol. I do get to see some of them on your channel though so there is that at least. Thanks for going to the trouble of taking us along. I, for one, appreciate it.
@@davidsaylors sounds like you may need to visit Utah and throw your name on a park, David.
WOW EFFECT unlocked :) / All i need is a EuroJackpot win and i am buying a ranch out there ;-) / hmmm so it is possible to have snow and sun with blue skies? ;-). We had 1st snowafall today and past 2 weeks a thick cloud cover making my italian DNA go nuts over lack of sun 🙂 / btw propagation to ur area is poor recently. Since our qsos, the bands are closing fast after sunset and are rather "locked" to the eastern part of the midwest at most.
We will be getting more QSOs no doubt. We did have a time shift here and the days are shorter with the sun setting much earlier. If I get out early enough 10m will give us a path!! I’d love to see you on a ranch in Utah. Cowboy boots and cowboy hat!!! 😊
@@Utahforrest Will be on a lookout for ya. I am on a sick leave for a week now. Hail the kindergarten and viruses my daughter brings home ;-). Yep...i find cowboy boots very comfy. Got me a pair sometime ago, classic, round toe. Do i need to tell u what kinda music is predominant on my spotify playlist? ;-) Let's just say that back in the 90s, when i was a teen my friends watched mtv and i prefered cmt ;-)
@@sq5ebmhaha! Love it. The XYL is a massive 90s country fan. :) Yep our son is in school which means he’s sick 24/7 😂
That's an epic location. 73 Paul KE9BHN
agree!!! and Forrest's cw seems to be getting quicker each month - inspirational to those learning
@@thequarantinecatholicThanks! Speed isn’t too important. My personality likes to go fast. (I talk that way sometimes). Spacing is important, I can do better. But it’s easy to start to increase speed when you activate daily. 26wpm feels like 22wpm did 6 months ago. :) 73!
