    EV-mode is working differently than the reviewer presented. Ev-mode is to help you save on gas, no harder accelerating from stop or on the hwy, and other engine adjustments. It’s not cutting the speed of course, only reaching certain speed takes longer time.

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop 6 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment, these early RX cars don't have an EV mode. The later ones enable you to run on purely electric but with these mk2s it's purely based on how much you press the pedal and how fast you are going. It adds power to the rear wheels under hard acceleration too!

  • @user-mz2kb7rj5q
    @user-mz2kb7rj5q 16 днів тому

    How in this world the reviewer reports such high gas mileage on 450h, 35 and above 40 mpg when it’s well-known fact that the combine city/hwy is 30mpg?

      He is from the Uk and we use Uk Imperial MPG as opposed to US MPG. 1 US Mpg = 1.2 UK MPG . So you’re both right, just got the wrong units of measurement.

    Didn’t you worry getting air suspension? of the cost if it went wrong, would it be more advisable not to get air suspension on this age of Car?

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop 2 місяці тому

      To be honest, I have had lots of Land rovers and Audi's with Air suspension over the years and it's a must for me. The ride it gives and the versatility are great. The parts are generally more reliable than coil springs and the struts are comparable with regards to price. The Toyota/Lexus EAS system is generally very reliable with very few reports of issues. If I got another it would definitely have air suspension. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

  • @ferrier3

    I’m going to get a 450 H at some point this year, but it was wondering where you’re not a little bit worried about getting the air suspension considering if it goes wrong it would cost a fortune to fix. Would it be wise not to go for air suspension, for the older models

    This car seems like a legit upgrade from the 2010-2019 Taurus Limited. I've watched plenty of reviews of both. Jaguar actually fitted alot of the interior with premium pieces that will not fade over time. Ford really really cheaped out on the Taurus' interior even though it was their flagship sedan for years, i dont understand it. My Taurus is rife with quality control issues and it only had 1 owner before i purchased it, i recently found out it may have been manufactured at a Lincoln plant which also produced defective Lincoln models of the same chassis. Alot of plastic parts or faux metal or faux wood, not the actual thing. i found i should've gotten the Continental or MKS Ford loaded those things with better quality interiors(in my opinion) anyway i feel it would be a great move to have this be a rideshare vehicle in the future. Any opinions are welcome

    Hi! How did you got those fuel consumption numbers? The ones you mentioned are even better than the ones advertised by jaguar. There is no chance you get that. How is that possible? I'm serious. I'm getting a combined consumption of 35MPG.

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop 6 місяців тому

      They are incredibly frugal engines! Don't forget this one is diesel, 35mpg is petrol territory. 55mpg on a run was a regular occurrence and backed up by calculation between fuel stops. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and comment!

    • @lucask3
      @lucask3 6 місяців тому

      @@JPKMotorsportWorkshop yes yes, mine is diesel. Same engine as yours. I don’t see anyone around the internet getting what you just claimed. They all get around 35/40mpg.

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop 6 місяців тому

      I can't report on how other people drive, 35/40mpg is what people are quoting from the same engine in the discovery 4s. I don't drive fast 95% of the time, my daily drive is 50% 'A' roads and 50% motorway and I would always get 45mpg on a 20 mile drive. I rarely boot it away from roundabouts and always coast up to roundabouts, only using brakes if absolutely necessary. I'm currently in an Audi EV and thats a whole other level of efficient driving!

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop Рік тому

      They seem fairly good, usual diesel issues, injectors and egr valves and there is always the risk of a dpf blockage but that's the same on any modern diesel. They are the same engines that are in the Discovery 4s etc so technically are prone to crank failures but they are no where near as common, I guess due to no towing and the weight of the car. Incredible engines though, 0-60 in 6s but still returns 55-60mpg, and so smooth! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop Рік тому

      60k miles seems low, the only thing to consider is that autos that have only done town mileage still need oil and filter changes. It's getting close to 10 years old so worth considering factoring in a gearbox service. I would go in at £21.5k with that as a caviat, timing belts will need doing soon but in all honesty it should be fine. Just keep a few thousand back in a 'just in case' fund. A lot of the price on these cars is very dependent on spec so it's difficult to say if it's a good deal but it doesn't sound too far off.

    Great information / video! Bought a 2016 x351 a few months ago to replace a 2008 BMW E93. Mine is the short wheelbase, 470hp V8, with carbon fiber instead of wood. They addressed the sunroof issues (rail corrosion and creak), and updated the infotainment system, so it makes sense to spend a little more to get a 2016 - 2019 if those are dealbreakers for anyone. Still an amazing deal on the level of car you're getting. Love these... but they are long. You don't notice the size when driving, as they handle like a smaller car, but when you're in a tight carpark... you realize this is the same length (even in short wheelbase) as a Cadillac Escalade.

      Hi Peter, on the whole yes, I had a couple of electrical gremlins but these are now proving to be 'just generic Landrover issues' and not directly related to the swap. The bell housing needs a very minor mod and an extra hole drilled for the starter but other than that it bolts straight up!

    You make a strong case for a first year x351! New remote mic and additional exterior camera shots should make your next Jag video even better.. As a former x260 owner, the x351 (any year really) is pretty compelling.

      Unfortunately it's still on hold as I'm finishing of my Discovery V8 build. Hoping to be able to do an update soon, the car is still in daily use as N/A though!

    You sir, are an utter, utter genius, and a life saver. At the time of writing fuel had gone up to around £1.80 a litre. I had just filled my discovery up at that price, so around 82 litres of fuel in it when a lorry decided to pull out and smash me into the central reservation of a dual carriageway. Just managed to get the car home, but insurance have written it off. So I’ve just spent the last few hours filling up every conceivable container I could find to get all the fuel out! The only improvement I made on your brilliant video is I put a switch in line with the cable used to short the fuel pump relay, so I could just turn the flow on and off when I wanted to. It all worked like a dream and now the tank is empty. Thank you so much!

    you are actually providing hope for some people! Awesome project! Do you only need the V8 + the ECU for the V8 (alongside all the engine wiring) and the rest is straight forward or there are specifics ?

    • @JPKMotorsportWorkshop
      @JPKMotorsportWorkshop Рік тому

      Hi Georgi, You do need the V8, the under bonnet loom, the ECU and the CJB at minimum. Overall it would be a lot easier to just sawp the gearbox on a V8 car but they are so far and few between its just not realistic. I am still working out some of the electrical gremlins but I have managed to edit the CCF file to tell the car it is Manual which is a huge milestone! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
