I am an evangelist/singer/songwriter. My wife and I love to travel, and I love sharing the Gospel through song and word. We realize that there are a lot of people who cannot travel for one reason or another. So this channel allows others to share in our adventures hiking, traveling, and seeing new things. Right now we travel in our RAV4, but we are praying for a small pull behind camper like a Scamp or a Casita.
There are a lot of older videos on this channel, but “Steppin’ Out with Paul & Nancy” is a new playlist that’s filled with our travel videos. We are trying to produce quality videos so please be patient as we learn new equipment and technology. The travel videos premier usually every 2 weeks.

A Day Trip to Jerome AZ: Exploring a Quaint Mining Community Perched on Hillside
It was so hot in Wickenburg, AZ that we decided to take a day trip to a higher elevation where it would be a little cooler. So we drove about 2 hours northeast past Prescott to Jerome, AZ. There is was about 15 to 20 degrees cooler, but the sun still beat down on you because of the higher elevation (just over 5,000 feet). But, anything was better than the heat in Wickenburg.
We spent a few hours exploring around Jerome. Everything is close, but the town is more vertical than horizontal in nature. The town is laid-out on different levels with lots of steps and some semi-steep streets. There are placards around town that talk about the history of Jerome and it's buildings. It was a nice, relaxing day for us just strolling along the streets.
On the way back we encountered some heavy rain and storms throughout the Prescott valley. But by the time we went down the long hill toward Wickenburg the heat had built up again. It was time to get back in the furnace. Oy vey!!
Jerome is a small mining community built on a hillside that has miles of mining tunnels under it. From this area they have mined gold, silver, and $1 billion dollars worth of copper ore. The shopping area is small with limited parking. There are many souvenir shops, art galleries, abandoned mines, local eateries and drinking establishments, and a mining museum (which costs on $2 to enter). There is also the Jerome Grand Hotel which was a former hospital. It's been reported that the hotel is haunted.
Having received National Historic Landmark status in 1976, Jerome, Arizona offers the visitor a peak into the past, a glimpse into the grandeur of what was once not only a Billion Dollar Copper Camp, but also the ‘Wickedest Town in the West’ with many original structures still precariously looming over the Verde Valley of North-Central Arizona. Jerome State Historic Park is home to Douglas Mansion, built in 1916 by a mining magnate. Nearby, Audrey Headframe Park has a glass viewing platform over a 1918 mine shaft. The town was incorporated in 1899 and has a 2022 population of 465.
The catastrophic fires and violent deaths from the town’s early days have led to Jerome’s “ghost town” status. Over the years, there have been several accounts of ghosts and apparitions that roam the town’s historic buildings and neighborhoods. Evening ghost tours and spirit walks introduce visitors to the local hotels, houses, hospital and high school that former residents are said to haunt.

I lived in Jerome, and raised my family there 1975 -2005. It was a magical time to be a part of Jerome's artist community... I loved it back then, and still love it!

Thanks. I get the same sensation with my knee, like a band around my knee. But they say that’s normal and that it takes a year for one to “forget” the implant and feel normal. I just stretch when it feels that way. I think the weather isn’t helping.

That’s a Female hogan, the male hogan is more of a tipi structure that has a door built as a square shape but both have their different purposes for its uses. Built with both logs and mud to make the summers and winters bearable, beautifully built will definitely keep family’s warm and cool during harsh weathering.

Please dont hesitate to get a knee replacement if you need one. I had my right knee done nov 2023 and my left in april 2024. You wont have the knees you had when you were 20, but im pain free, i dont walk like a penguin and i can walk for as long as i want! So worth the pain after surgery 😊

Just had surgery 6 hours ago, physios been in had me standing , moving knee etc. It's all about the rehab and medication , I'm on liquid morphine not much pain so I can do my bed exercises, make sure you always take the new that's offered , who wants pain , when the doc says scale of 1 to 10 what's your pain tell him 8/9 even if it's 5 that what the physio told me , you need to start exercising immediately and if your in pain you can't, Goodwick.
Yes indeed. I was walking the day of my surgery. It seemed that most of my pain was at night. It wasn’t bad during the day, but I also have a high pain tolerance. You gotta keep moving and doing the physical therapy at home. I pray for your complete recovery and that you heal quickly.

My knee is doing good, thank you. I feel like I can do just about whatever I want with it, even squatting. My flexibility is almost back to where it was before surgery. Thanks for watching. I have some outstanding videos coming up where I talk about hiking and my knee. God bless.

@user-fx5uw9qz8b I do hamstring stretches, a hurdlers stretch, and while lying on my back I brung my foot as far back as I can, get a good bend and flex in the knee. I’ll also try to squat as low as I can. Those seem to help me a lot.

Thanks for making this! After visiting the Mesa for years, I finally had the courage to do the drive myself in my new Subaru Crosstrek. So glad I did!
I actually saw a person drive it in a Toyota Prius.
Im planning on visiting there soon, in a week or so. It is August, so want to get out sooner than later. I remember my dad had an Airstream brochure, back in the 70s, that had several pictures & descriptions & floor plans for several models. I still remember a picture of the Airstream built for housing the Apollo 11 astronauts in quarantine, with president Nixon talking to them through the glass. I SO wish I still had that old brochure! It might be worth something now, but I would definitely keep it as a keepsake!
The tour made us realize why Airstreams cost more than other campers. I’d love to have the Caravel 22 foot, but someone would have to buy one for me AND supply a tow vehicle for my ministery. But reserve a tour time online and go through the museum. It’s so cool. Enjoy.

YOU DID NOT MENTION ANY PAIN, IS THERE ALOT OF PAIN ESPECIALLY WHEN SLEEPING, MY FRIEND MAY HAVE TO GE THIS DONE SOON AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, THANKYOU
There’s some pain, but it was manageable. My knee ached more than hurt, if you know what I mean. They give you a pain block during surgery that lasts about 36-48 hours. Then they also gave pain meds. I used those at night. That’s when my leg hurt most. It seemed like it was wherever my bedsheet would touch my skin around my knee, that’s where it hurt. Sleeping is hard for a few weeks. But it never hurt so bad that I couldn’t walk or get relief. I hope this helps.

My cat did that for me. He knew my knee was sore and wouldn’t bother it at all until it was well.

My knee is doing good. Slipped on a trail today and hyper flexed my knee. If scared me at first, hurt a little, but I was okay in a few minutes. Do it’s going good.
