Marshall DSL40C w/ Celestion Creamback Speaker
Переглядів 34 тис.8 років тому
This is a quick test of the Marshall DSL40C. This is the Sweetwater exclusive with a Celestion Creamback speaker. The amp is on the Lead 1 channel with the guitar volume backed off a bit. Guitar is an American Standard Strat with Dimarzio Area pickups, '58 in the neck and '61 in the middle and bridge. No pedals, just straight into the amp.
For those who don’t know, there was this guy back in the day named Jimi Hendrix. He was pretty decent at guitar 😁
How long was the wait?
I bought this one pre-built so no wait.
Very nice. Just to be sure, you know a 12" guitar speaker like that only disperses highs up to ~1.5kHz at a 45d angle, which it looks like the camera is at in the video. The mic needs to at least be within 20d on-axis to pick up the 4kHz+ articulation. Say, specifically what tube complement does it have? I can make some suggestions for the next tube change that would give it more detail, and will at very long if it's all JJ tubes.
I think Hendrix would love the DSL40
That sounds the absolute business dude , very DUMBLE ❤
sounds like a red hot tweed in my ears
It really does with humbuckers. I personally think it compliments singlecoils more.
This or the Ceriatone HRM?
Which mods did you go for?
Just the HRM mod. Gives it slightly higher midrange and lots of gain. There's a gain control on the back that I have set at 9:00 o'clock. Turning that up takes you into very saturated Marshall territory.
My next amp is a custom special based on this bad boy. Sounding good bud
It's a great amp. I really think it's great with single coils. Sounds tweedy or marshally with humbuckers.
@@jlwguitar I'm predominantly a Strat player. I'm excited 😊
check out the two strat videos of have of this one my channel. @@Bairov
Why speaker did you get?
What*
@@bsakers123 is came with a Warehouse ET-65.
WaaWaa pedal bro, n some booster stomp box, jam out...get a looper too" then invite a drummer over ".."Party"
Both sound great to be honest
I'm guessing you use the Vemuram, The Wampler has dust on it. Lol
Really nice video.
Noise diff gap cant u guys hear it, vemuram way lot better
Ahhh,- the freaking Germanium,- can't be denied. But , as a some better Si type fuzzes,- the standard Keeley is damn nice( not Si). Think I prefer the regular Blues Driver to the Angry,-not even running in this game.
If you’d like to hear the Marshall DSL40c in a hard edged rock ‘n roll setting, check it out here ua-cam.com/video/aBy3VuvcDYk/v-deo.html
Keeley Germanium Super Phat Mod sounds great the best to my ears
ya gets what ya pay for
Vemuram seems to clean up better with using guirar's volume knob 🤔
Very cool ! LES
Bought the Wampler!
nice play,
I did the same thing, A/B them both and bought the Wampler. If you look at the volume settings the Vemuram pedals seem to be lacking in headroom, they do sound good though....especially the Karen overdrive pedal.
The relative position of the volume control has nothing to do with amount of headroom
Nice tones. Great speaker.
SPM ge all the way. Although I still like my Monte Allums modded BD-2, but the SPM ge does it all.
For me I really like the Super Phat Mod
It would help if you specified if it's the 65 or 75 watter, they sound quite different. Sounds like the 65.
Stiff Richard this was actually the 65 watt Creamback.
I'm all about the 75, big and ballsy.
is it the g12m creamback or the g12h??
I was always a fan of the Blues driver. I sold my Blues driver and bought the Angry Driver. BTW cool patch cables.
Nice playing!
Thanks!
Yes, but not in sync with anything. Try to use a backing track or a metronome.
dig it !
Thanks!
Could you please give me your settings?
Yes, I'd love to see more comparisons of the D&M to others. Especially your Klon. Thank you.
wampler that is
for the money, ill pick the sampler all day. thanks.
How are you keeping the levels at 12:00? I love this pedal, but unity with my amp is seriously at 9:00 or so. It's very loud, and sounds fantastic! Nice demo
I'm using a Rivera Mini Rock Rec as a load box and speaker sim. The speaker is bypassed so it's actually silent in the room. This way I can really crank pedals to see how they'll push the amp at high volumes. And my wife and son don't hate me. Through the speaker I keep the volumes around 9-10. Does sound amazing either way! Keeley really has something special with this thing. Thanks!
I agree, and I love the pedal, but I don't think I've had the level about 9:00 or 10:00 at the most. I'm loving the boost into drive, when you need a killer lead tone, this pedal delivers.
I can't hear you.
That's cause he's deafened you. Creeps that was loud
Hey Josh, great review! You put the pedal through all the interesting settings, good playing as well! 😉👍🏻
Thanks!
I'm having a seriously rough time trying to dial in tone for my strat and tele. I love the tone you got but can't visually see what you have for setting. Would you mind sharing please?
I had hard time dialing this one in too. There was either too much bass or it was way to bright. I even left it in 20watt mode for a while too and enjoyed the sounds I got there but the 40watt mode is much more open and feels better. I've noticed the Presence and Resonance have to be in the right spot and that can changed drastically based on the guitar you're playing. For this I didn't record the or keep track of the settings. I had just pulled it out of the box and plugged it. I do know it was on the Lead 1 channel with the gain about half way up and the guitars volume rolled off about half way. I've also switched out some tubes since then and it plays much nicer now. Groove tubes EL34 and Mesa/Boogie 12ax7s. Hope that helps.
Thank you I will give the tube switch a try as well. Still fussing with it though, hoping I will hit the "sweet" spot that I like one day soon!
Thank you, I appreciate your taking the time to answer and provide the information.
Thank you again. I have marked those tubes to order and give them a try on my Marshall as well.
Try the clean channel on crunch mode, but use your gain to taste. Then, use the Mid Shift in (scoops mids) I find that makes it more vintage/fendery. Now, this is counter intuitive part, boost the mids pretty good (2-3 o clock), cut the treble way back and set the presence to taste. That's my favorite clean setting and it kills on the gain side too
Little wing is the new Smoke on the water of guitar wankers. please play something else.
betterthandead ohyea I did not find your videos. am I searching on the wrong place?
Yes, guitar wankers, play smoke on the water but the solo
play some magic chord Em / G / D / A
you need to smoke some weed ! he can play anything he wants. people like you should just not comment
betterthandead ohyea you first
Just what I was looking for! Awesome. Does it sound warm and vintage enough for you in comparison to a vintage marshall like the 8040?
