My dad used to record these on VHS and write down the recipes. Idk if he ever actually made anything based on Smith's recipes though. Jeff Smith had a completely different definition of what "frugal" meant.

Honestly, I never thought I'd see The Frugal Gourmet, again, after the scandal that ended his career. My Dad and I watched him all the time, prior to that.

The word Barbeque is not french in origin. It actually came to us through Spanish as it was picked up from the exploration of South America and the Caribbean islands. Indigenous people ate smoked meat and called it something like 'bara bicu' which the Spanish adopted and started calling 'barbecoa' in the early 1500s. The rest of Europe learned this word from the Spanish and adopted their own versions of the word, such as 'Barbecue' in English.

I done some background check on Jeff Smith, and I come to find out that he was accused of molesting quite a few boys and that's why his series ended. The accusations were settled out of court and ended the series. I don't know the full details, and I know that are two sides to a story therefore I don't judge. I will always think that Jeff is a good man because I know people will do anything to get money and have no conscious about getting it

We made a pulled pork grilled cheese with bacon on buttery sourdough bread using mozzarella and vermont cheddar, a chipotle mayonnaise, thick cut bacon and seasoned pulled pork. If you want to add something savory to your bread, mix a little garlic paste, thyme, rosemary, and parsley into your butter and spread it onto the bread before placing in the hot pan.
