Plotting a C-47 on the AxiDraw MiniKit 2

This is the plotting of a custom drawing that I composed from a photograph I took of a C-47 flying over Southern California on Memorial Day weekend 2020.
Toy Gun Assembly
Переглядів 223 роки тому
This toy gun broke almost immediately. It lost its air-tight seal. I took it apart and modified the plunger so that the o-ring fit more snuggly and then re-greased the tube. Then I reassembled the toy.

Here's a behind-the-scene look at how my son and I take the lid off the table and make sure that everything is tight and running well.

Sand Table with Lights 1

Official Project documented at markroland.com/portfolio/sand-table This is my first video with lights installed in the table. Bewick's Wrens
Переглядів 395 років тому
A nest of Bewick's Wrens showed up in my back yard in April 2019. I set up a Raspberry Pi (Model Zero W) with a Raspberry Pi camera module and ran picam (github.com/iizukanao/picam) to live-stream video of the nest to my home network. I also set up motion activation to capture clips. Some interesting behavior to note: - Both parents bring food. This is evident because a few times they show up a...
Sand Table - Golden Ratio Spiral

This pattern uses the "Golden Angle" (137.5°) often found in nature, such as in the arrangement of seeds in a sunflower. For more information about this project, visit: - markroland.github.io/sand-table-build/ - markroland.com/portfolio/sand-table en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_angle
Sand Table
Переглядів 4 тис.5 років тому
I've recently finished assembling the basic mechanical structure of my sand table. This project was started in 2008 after being inspired by the Sisyphus table of Bruce Shapiro. I always intended to resume work on it, and I was finally able to a few months ago. I'm not finished developing it, but it's time to start documenting the process. Build documentation will be updated at markroland.github...
Did you assemble the AxiDraw MiniKit 2 yourself? Any tips or pointers you would pass on to others re this plotter?
I did. It was pretty straight forward, however I did accidentally cut through the belt when trying to trim off the excess. I would avoid doing that :) It was fixable, but a careless mistake.
@@markrolandmakes Thanks I will take extra care on that step. :-)
I didn't realize they were loud as shit
And then… SILENCE
I would go crazy hearing that sound coming from my table all day long.
JODIE SNOW IS A FRAUD, don't do it.
did anyone ever get one?
Why is it so loud dude?
First of all, apparently I don't get comment notifications so I'm just stumbling across these. I agree that it's definitely louder than you'd want something like this to be. This is a custom build and not the popular Sisyphus table, which I also own, and is nearly silent, so props to them on that! To address the noise there are a few things to know: 1) It is uncovered. Covering it with glass makes it quieter, especially in regard to the scratching. 2) There is fabric underneath the sand, which does help, but other materials could definitely be explored. 3) Different sand or other substrates could be explored 4) The stepper motors can be made quieter with other drivers or code, but this isn't something I've explored. I hope that information helps anyone else attempting something similar.
The scratching at the table would drive me insane
It's ASMR
@@_kimmochi_.6090 Maybe if the grinding was smooth and consistent, the shuddering is what drives me nuts.
Amazing (and esoteric as well 😅)
One Olympiad question on this.
holy crap that thing is loud
I actually own one,and the sound depends on the speed you set the ball in, I usually set quiet slow, so there will be no sound
Amazing!
AAAAAAACHOOOO- Whoops…
Lovely

are you sure because ~i just believe it is 360~
Respect 👍
Very cool.
哈哈 ! 原來是這樣來的,心算能力強的可以算算到底它繞了幾次(可能要參考最後在中心的動態!?)😅 !
Awesome
Total Fibonacci..... but it’s backwards the 😳
scary pentagram! but its cool
Put a sponge under the ball, it should move along smoother
Sound is annoying
Not as annoying as your terrible singing or over rated guitar playing 😮😯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

WOW man, you really should use siletnt stepper drivers!
I agree! Any recommendations? Seriously.
Beautiful
hi! im looking to make a sandtable myself, is there a specific tutorial you followed? thank you!! been looking everywhere for it
Hi Pierre, I'm so sorry I've only just now seen this! I hope you were able to make some progress on a project. My notes on my project are online at markroland.com/portfolio/sand-table
0:35 uhhh, that cable..
Yep. Very less than ideal. That lid weighs about 50 pounds, too. You build, you learn, you improve.
I thought this should be quiet though
hi Mark. I work with kids in a makespace.. I have a student who is interested in making a sand table! do you have any tips or "instructions" you would be willing to share... !? thanks. David
Hi David, I'm so sorry that I missed this comment for so long. My notes on my project are online at @t
Thanks so much!!
That ball dose not move fluid.
That's an interesting observation. For this piece I was more interested in the final pattern than the motion. It's probably slower at the corners because there are more points concentrated there in the instructions.
Cool!!!
How loud is that?....
Awesome!! Congratulations!!!
