Last ride with our riding buddy Cameron on the WR250R. His time in Georgia is up and he is off to Italy with the US Army in May. Trying to capture the highlights of our 86 mile ride into 20 mins. Our ride was cut short due to a line of thunderstorms that quickly developed. We missed the downpour by 5 mins. A few key time stamps. 00:00 intro 00:36 1st water crossing 00:58 deep sand 1:50 Super ru...

Cuthbert sand ride of Death 11 19 2023

I joined the South Atlanta Adv group ride named the Cuthbert Sand Ride of Death. When we finally met them on McAllister road near Buena Vista about 60 miles into the ride, they had already had a flat and had to swap a tube on the route. Then a guy broke his leg on a muddy section of McAllister road. I think he stuck his leg out to try to catch the bike in a slide. One guy stayed behind with him...

Just a little fun ripping around before the heat advisory kicks in! Excellent dirt bike and a good dual sport. If you are sensitive to vibration you may want to ride one before buying one. On the road its vibey. I went up one tooth to 15/48 and that is a great all around ratio. As you can see its purring along at 65 mph and will still lug down and crawl in 1st. Throttle lock is nice on the road...

Hey Grant, Thanks for the video. I am about to do exactly the same lowering as you did on my 2019 CRF 450L (also Soupies rear/ Zeta front). So I'm just wondering why you didn't use a Comfort Low seat to lower the seat by 1", as opposed to the Comfort xl you installed? Regards, Dave, Australia
Dave, I bought the seat before I decided to lower the bike. I would go with the low seat if you want additional lowering.
@@grant31781 That makes sense Grant, but just thought you may have wanted to keep the rider triangle the same and/or have maximum comfort. All the best. DW
Would you say this would help the feel or reduce the grabbiness?
No it doesn't do anything to the clutch plates. My clutch is not grabby. Very smooth from the initial grab to full engagement. When the bike is cold the plates stick together and do drag a bit until warm. Most bikes do this.
Great video dude thanks for the walk around nice bike😊
Hello If there is a switch replacement video, can you post it? Did you add hydraulics? Is air bleeding required? Thanks
No how to video I am aware of. Its very easy. Just screw it form the abs module. If the master cylinder runs dry you will need to bleed the line from the master cylinder to the ABS module where the sensor is removed. In the video I describe a way to avoid bleeding.
ktm = known to malfunction
Or keep taking money 🙃
4500? U meen 450?
4,500 miles. The front tires last about twice as long as the rear tires. Light to no front braking helps with the front tire cupping.
Love it
Where is this?
Where is this?
I understand now how they dropped my decompression pin in the engine when they did this lol
ik this is late, had the same problem, slipped a washer in between the swing arm on the left side by chain no problems
But what does it mean?
I loved this video! I have KTM 500 exc and change oil every 15 hours (about 300 miles) with every second time only oil just leaving the filters.
On my 21 500 my last two changes were 35 and 32 hours with right around 1200 miles. The oil lost a little viscosity but not too bad. Checked with a ball viscosity tester. Motul 7100.
Still remains chinese
Get your steering stablizer
Its on UPS. Should get it back Thursday.
Sweeet
I think dirt bike oil change intervals are more frequent because the operate in the dirt. Air sucked in the engine during off road operation contains lots more particulate (silicon) than on road operation. The micro silicon particles ingested get suspended in the oil and accelerate wear. I think KTM expects their EXC’s to spend 99% of their lives off road ingesting particulate so they suggest more frequent oil changes than true “dual sporting” motorcycles. If you want to make a dirt bike engine last, clean air filter and change oil frequently :)
What big bore did you use was it the 480 cylinder works? And did it hold up
The bike was stock. Bog bore I was referring to as the larger 450 and up class of dual sports.
Putting it to work im glad you like it
I am using Shotcut to edit. I used the youtube preset to convert the file and it kills the quality. Any idea how to resolve this?
What is the seat height now with lowering links ? Thanks
You got that posted quick good friend😂😂

You have your high beams on
Always ride with your highbeam on. I would rather be seen than be dead. Research riding with your highbeam on

I got the track master on the back and it’s total garbage. Horrible traction and wears quicker than hors butthole. Same weird west pattern
Totally agree
Trail Buddy in zilwaukee Michigan has a lot of aftermarket parts or the IceBear 125CC Honda clones. I put a thumper pipe on mine from and I put an upgrade 22 mm real menuki carburetor on it good I got from summit racing I had to put the 95 jet in I ordered a jet kit with the carburetor.
Hey add it as a short, it will take 6 secs off but it will play in vertical.
Nice video, wondering if you could let me know what front and rear sprockets are, mine are 14/45 and it is anything but good in tight stuff. It’s an s model so geared more for speed but I’m not doing freeways, I’m just guessing but you might be 13/48. That’d be my try but would be nice to know. Thanks
It's the stock gearing. Not sure what that is. My rear tire is the tall version of the Kenda K270. That gives me a taller final gear ratio over the stock low profile rear tire.
Good job going into the details that would start to highlight whether or not it’s legitimate to need those shorter oil change intervals.
So did the vortex fix the issue ? Or did adjusting the tps ? I’m having sort of the same issue but am not trying to dish out $600 right now.
I didn't really notice it stock. When I removed the cheese grater screen in the pipe, it seemed a little touchy. I read the stock ecu on the 20 plus bike will adjust out any corrections. You can try it and see.
@@grant31781 yeah pretty much what I did, but I have an Akrapovic exhaust with the baffle out, and I also de smogged the bike. But now the throttle isn’t so smooth when in low rpm’s. Going to have to just try it out and see if I have any luck. Thanks bud man ! Edit: Also mines is a 17 so maybe that’s why it won’t adjust it out on its own.
@@JayOnOneWheel The 20 plus model will not correct enough for an open exhaust. You are lean with that pipe and stock ecu. JD tuner or an ecu will fix it. If you pulled the reeds it will be even leaner. Does the 17 have a o2 sensor? If not the TPS adjustment may help since the ecu can not see the change. either way you will still be lean.
Your as out riding with a multimeter?

Wonderful historic footage of a great concept which sadly never realised its full potential
Nice mods there, is new chain a 98 link?
don’t worry that’s normal for the most part. many folks call it the “yama-tick”. I hate it and wish it wasn’t there on my MT07 but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it is what it is. a nice exhaust drowns out the noise
Excellent work! I am considering the 16 tooth front sprocket for mine and this was just what I was looking for.
Shorts man
Sand, mud, sand where'd you go flordia?
Mostly Stewart County. 😆
Does it clunk at all on the top of the stroke? The damper rod hitting the spacer feels harsh on mine.
Yes they did. I read that was not right and pulled them apart and removed the kit. No clunk without it. Of course Zeta never did answer my emails about it. I had 1500 or so miles on the kit and did not see any damage so I assume it is OK to run the kit. I guess the kit messes with the oil control at the top of the stroke. I couldn't see why the were doing this with the kit and not doing it without it.
Yes it's a sharp bump that feels like when you turn the bars and hit the steering stops.
@@grant31781 have you heard of any fixes?
@@nickszydlowski8623 No.
Up
Thx
Thank you for the information!! Picking mine up today from a dealer.
I’m looking at this or Honda 230 how do you like it? How much do you weigh? I am 205lbs mainly do trails but logging roads also, in PNW
I weigh 155 pounds. I like the bike. It works good in tight stuff and riding down dirt roads. It has a low 1st that doesn't need much clutch work which works well with the long stroke engine. The suspension is soft and I can bottom it riding at a faster pace. On road it will hold 60mph gps. Its rev limited to 71mph or 75 indicated. On road handling is good.
Hello! Beautiful engine models. I have a question; Are these alcohol burners safe? Did any of them explode? I would like to use such a burner in my new engine. Alcohol is flammable. And I don't know if it's safe.
No explosions. If you try to contain them in a confined space they get hot and over flame.
@@grant31781 Thank you for your answer.
Where you get the 30t rear sprocket?
