The Past & Future of Coptic Iconography
Listen to the recording of our online panel, "The Past and Future of Coptic Iconography," where we explored the rich tradition and evolving landscape of Coptic iconography. Three experienced iconographers in the Coptic Orthodox tradition - George Makary, Kirollos Kilada and Fadi Mikhail - reflected on a range of topics, including the diversity of ancient Coptic iconography, the important place of Isaac Fanous in the development of contemporary iconography, and the function of icons in the liturgical life. The panel offered their thoughts on the relationship icons have to Church architecture, liturgy, theology and prayer, pointing the way towards a more comprehensive vision for the role of Coptic iconography in the 21st century.

Since when has mental health become a Christian problem instead of a clinical matter ?
The issue lies in the "mental" part. If you can separate that from the "Christian" and the "clinical" do please tell me how. You would also do well in watching the video.
@@uroszivkovic9988 And you believe mental health can be dealt with by accepting Jesus' blood cleanses your sin ?
@@khanhminhnguyen7274 Yes. Without Jesus Christ, there is no healing of the mind, body and soul of anyone.
@@IonniasDeVito That is a vague assertion. Do you mind sharing any psychiatric research on your god's healing power ?
@@khanhminhnguyen7274 Forgive me, friend. I mean no offense. I'm not an academic scholar or intellectual. I'm just another person on youtube. However, I can testify personally to being restored to soundness of mind through faith in Jesus Christ. From a state of complete mental insanity after years of failed treatment with medications and electroconvulsion therapy.
I left the church because of Bishop Anagaelos 🎉
May God bring an awareness to the Church that our modern system of psychology and psychotherapy was generally established under satanist principles (atheism/materialism/hedonism) with faint Christian overtones. Orthodox psychotherapists today still need to evaluate, consider and be watchful of how much they may have already been bought. We all are daily tempted by secularism/naturalism/the downright rejection of God in our society. Most of us have not fully acquired the mindset of the Holy Fathers and saints whom we cite, as modern Orthodox. This is simply a call to continue struggling because settling is too easy.
I am new to the teaching of the Orthodox Church and searching for literature I found this book "Mysteries of the Jesus Prayer: Experiencing the Mysteries of God and a Pilgrimage to the Heart of an Ancient Spirituality". Thank you very much, Fr John Anthony McGuckin and the writer of the book, for the effort and the pilgrimage to all these holy places as it is a book written for Westerners.
One way to unify this. Is understanding the body. We have a physical body. Surrounded by a spiritual body. The spiritual body or subtle body is magnetic in nature. These body’s are not separate. It is truly one body. And a body that must be treated as that. Much of the time issues start in the spiritual body and then manifest into the physical body. If a magnet has a dead zone. That dead zone will manifest in matter. Density. Likewise. A loss of say a leg. Obviously is not a spiritual body issue manifesting in physicality. It would work in reverse. The lost limb would resonate into the spiritual body. In the form of sadness. Despair. Depression. Thoughts.
Please pray for me God bless
32:34 is a fascinating story with St John of Krondstadt and a woman with turrets, blaspheming but receiving communion
Like it or not we cannot negate human development. St Paul said when I was a child.....acknowledging that one is not spiritually grown up when in fact they are immature in more than one domain. Growth and healing and purification take time. God's time.
@36 or there about, Father made extremely important points and we just breezed over it. Gee.
Many mental health and spiritual issues are connected. Some of these struggles can be approached by prayer IF one lives in a monastery or has a sophisticated degree of understanding or spiritual formation which impacts health and holiness.. Monastics still might require medication too.

I'm not sure this was Orthodox. I'm not a cradle Orthodox, but isn't the spirit infinitely more important than the body? I'm surprised the priest did not correct the other man who said they were equal. There are martyrs in the faith. They sacrifice body for spirit and are eternally rewarded for it.
*IND33D*
How could the soul be infinitely more important than the body? Christ's incarnation sanctified our body and the whole creation...otherwise why did He make himself flesh!! He could have chosen an angelic body or any other entity to manifest to us. Moreover, it is orthodox to say that it is with our bodies that we will be raised. The supremacy of the soul over the body is an ancient Greek belief and philosophical construct. Didn't st Paul also say id that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? Soma and psyche are equal and tightly interconnected. There is a lot more that the Fathers of the Church taught us on that regard. Greetings in the risen Christ.
@@mirna4458 thanks for the reply. Awesome. I suppose I have to rethink this. I would agree Christ incarnate and bodily resurrection certainly teaches us not to undermine matter. But is the risen body the same as the one we have now? No. And martyrs give up their bodies for their souls, no? But I will grant you that person we are speaking about different definitions of "body".
@@mirna4458 I think also that the body it thy temple, there is no reason to chastize oneself for natural things or deny the material part. Overdoing any thing like S.t Anthony got more possesed by demons, because being ascetic is not natural. Cherish soul and body, like we can have an healthy sexuality and also eat well enjoy and nutritious. But we dont want depravity, because that will hurt the body and soul. Look for joy and love I think and not destructive things.
The soul being more important than the body would be gnosticism. The spirit rules the body, but using which one is more important is like asking if the Father or the Son are more important. The Father guides the Son and the spirit guides the body, but that's not anything to do with importance. Death itself is the unnatural separation of body and spirit, so we don't want to get a head start by separating them by importance.
Hey, Orthodox Christian here. This video was super helpful! I've been struggling pretty bad with blasphemous and intrusive thoughts for a long time now. Knowing that there are other people of faith that face the same problems is very relieving. God bless you!
I wouldnt take blasphemy so serious because it has not much to do with God but of religious opression, Galileo Galiley was a great scientists. Even Jesus was considered blasphemous by the jewish priests or grandiose. Dont worry about it.
@@bigshoes806 alright I do have alot of those, I am aware of them but let them pass by so its no struggle. And we can fill up our minds with a love supreme of the divine, praise and joyful hapiness, towards one another. Think good thoughts, speak good and act good. A sensous desire can be extremely dangerous when it takes one over. But overdoing things is not good either we are humans of the flesh after all.
Are u ok now?
