I noticed that our dachshund Tonks was limping a bit, and I suspected that she was bumping her back foot against the bedframe when she jumped on the bed. So one night before she could jump I picked her up and put her on the bed. While Tonks will still jump on the bed if I'm not around, she clearly now believes that if I'm in the room I should put her on the bed. And she will stand there and give me periodic shrill barks until I do it. Even if it's 3am.

Aint that the truth!!

I am owned by two beautiful Dachshunds and I agree I was cringing when I saw the video not advisable a definite NO NO. I'm a retired Dog Groomer I've had dogs all my life I have to say yes they are stubborn and yes greedy but I've never known a breed so loving as the Dachshunds I'm 71 now and as I've said had dogs all my life all different breeds but I give the Dachshund 11/10 for giving love and devotion.

My best friends family has 2 females and they are so funny… ever time the dad would come home from work they would bark at him. An he was the one that paid for everything…

You are so correct in advising not to have two females. I will never understand why humans think two males is a recipe for disaster. Best combo is one female and one male (both fixed, of course); but two males (also both fixed) is an option that usually works as well. Two females (fixed or not) will fight and maim and tear and rip and break bones and blood everywhere, and . . . yeah . . . two females is NOT good.

I have two, 1 month apart in age. I adopted them at 8-10 months old. They are now 12 years old. They are so adorable and sweet. Haven’t had any problems between them, ever. Both are female. They light up my life. My husband loves them, too. They love us both. I’m so glad I adopted both of them.

I want too many Dachshunds!!!🤗🤗🤗 One is definitely not enough!!!

Quute seriously back issues. for yiu and your dog . Yours will be from consantly picking up the cutie for hugs n kisses . For them its quite seriously being mishandled by people . They are tenacious by nature. which means most peoples reaction is to hit or kick. also if they want something. they mean to have it. think it through. go through your entire house. on your hands and knees to get a pov. check for escape routes. behind iver and below all objects. Appliances desks beds etc etc .gates. please measure the space that you want to close off . as my brother told me. measure twice cut once. If for any reason . your new family member.. will be allowed on the furniture. use mini stairs to help your pup for this. consisetncy is key.so thst your pup understands the boundries . If you do it right. when people come over they'll sit on the floor. the pup gets the couch . Quite seroisly my dog loved people and cars. i thought easy right? the dam dog got car sick in the back . my true friends never minded sitting in the back. due to the dog. its kind of like a filter for social gathering.. then . watch the children. make sure everbody knows your pup is not a slinky. Another good filter fir friends . After all that. let the family enjoy ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I have had 8 of them and the only thing I regretted was that could not live long enough. I still have two I f them left and want to get another because my two are 16 and 17 years old. I would never do anything different.

I think the pros vastly out do the cons. I've had three dachshunds so far.

Agree with everything you say but, that second to last film clip where the woman lifts the dog by holding its front paws and then high fives the other has got to be one of the worst/most dangerous things for a dachshunds back you can do.

As a lifelong dachshund owner, I currently have a Black and tan male short hair and was raised with them, mini's and standards, since I was a baby 62 yrs ago. I loved your video until 3:02 in your video showing someone encouraging yours to sit upright. FYI That is one of the "Worst" things you can do. Allowing them, teaching them, and or encouraging them can cause major back issues as their vertebrae are all compressed while upright and can lead to Intervertebral Disc Disease. IVDD. I know it's cute but it's NOT good for them overall... 😢

No problem for me to train....I was retired & was home & soon as they twirrled let them out...back yard & fake green grass..it worked...)))yet every 4 hours out as new ones))
