Port A. Fishing Recap & Ribbonfish Surge | Surfside, TX
Looking back on our Port A trip this fall, we spent a few days enjoying the beautifully blue water. Unfortunately, the bite wasn’t great. I had a hit before sunrise, but it didn’t stay hooked for long. Judging by the way it was running, I’d bet it was a mackerel-but who knows? I did manage to land a few skipjack (ladyfish), but that was about it for me. My buddy Jessie, however, scored a nice bull red on a 2 oz spoon.
After returning to town, I headed out to the Quintana jetty with my brothers-in-law. The bite there was on fire! Once I started tossing a 40g jig, I was getting hits on every cast and even landed some ribbonfish. Ribbonfish are fantastic as bait for offshore fishing thanks to their shiny, reflective skin that draws in predators. However, they’re not just for the fish-they taste amazing fried up too! Thanks for watching!

Beach Fishing Bites | Surfside, TX

Today, we hit the beach for a laid-back day of surf fishing. The water wasn't crystal clear, but that didn't stop us from soaking up some sunshine and casting our lines. There were plenty of catfish biting, and I even managed to fly out some bait with the drone, leading to a strike from a small bonnethead shark! 🦈 One of the highlights of the day was seeing a school of jacks tearing through bai...

Today I got out to the jetties for a late afternoon bite. Fishing conditions has been tremendous with perfect weather. Bite was slow, but I managed one spanish mackerel. I threw the tandem rig and a spoon for a few hours with no hits. On the second rod, I left a mullet out on a float rig. This was the ticket as I had several hits and was able to land one. The others shredded my line with their ...

Today we went out and enjoyed a crabbing at the beach. We setup several crab traps and spent a few hours with little luck. We did manage to catch a huge stone crab and a blue crab which we end up release. Once the tides started moving, we headed over to the bay side in search for flounder! We ended up getting 6 of them! I ended up making stuffed flounder and it was delicious. Please LIKE, COMME...

In today's video we got a chance to go offshore with our new buddy Cliff. He had an awesome SEADOO switch and it road like a champ through higher than expected swells. Out at the rigs we were able to troll, bottom fish, and soak ribbon fish. We learned quickly that fishing out there was going to be a whole lot different than fishing from the shore. Luckily Cliff is experienced and showed us som...

Fishing conditions changed real quick once I was 3/4 of the way to the jetties. The sunshine turned into dark clouds of showers. Walking out on the jetties the rain was very light and minimum, so I was able to give it a shot. Water wasn't as clean, so I didn't expect much. I was going to try a new lure today and it paid off. The HTO Sparkling Beetle tandem rig white glow colorway 1/4 ounce got ...

Another BEAUTIFUL day at SS jetties. Amazing conditions continue to hold and we got out early this morning. The bite was instant with live shrimp on a float with about 7 ft of fluorocarbon leader to a octopus hook and that did the trick. Sand trout were taking most of my shrimp. The occasional gafftops showed up and they were thick. Finally before leaving I managed a keeper trout at 17". Many o...

Surfside jetty fishing at its finest! Weather was amazing and beautiful. Low winds and glass like conditions. Bait were running everywhere. In this video the conditions were amazing. I didn't see much action and others around me only caught gafftops, but I managed to get extra lucky and landed a slot red. Redfish limits fall between 20-28". Kept it simple and just pan seared it with light seaso...

Fishing at surfside jetty again. Weather's gotten better and I had to get out and make the most of the rest of my summer. Got into a big one on the bottom and manage to bring in my biggest stingray. These creatures are always so majestic to me, but always be careful of that tail! Some days may be slow, but any kind of action brings back the joy of fishing. Catches: Pigfish, Sheepshead, Stingray...

In today’s video my dad and I traveled to Port Aransas! We usually head down here every summer and enjoy the beautiful water in search for giant fish. There were many skipjack or ladyfish but they kept spitting the hook with every jump. Fishing on bottom with cut mullet, my dad hooked into a giant ray. It took nearly 20 minutes as the ray stationed itself on the bottom, making if feel like we w...

School?? Summer just started, but I finally found the school of jacks! They have been caught all along the surf, but it's been very slow at the jetties. I think it’ll be good for any lures. I have been casting spoons up to 3 oz and it’s been flying. I think you would prefer a smaller rod if you are fishing for small baits/fish. Anything over 1ft it would do just fine
