do you think god stays in heaven because he too fears what he's created?

this is a psa to GO WATCH BUDDYS SONG i made this video 2 yrs ago and never uploaded it
Turn that shit off, what's wrong with you man? Get the other record, damn.
oh my gah…
What's up
Love this era of Beck but as a musician, it's kind of annoying that most of the things I love about his work is other people's work. I'll go look it up and keep liking him but guess creativity here is less than 90%.
it all depends on your own view of creativity, interpolation, and appropriation! i think odelay and other work by the dust brothers is similar to pop art like the work of andy warhol; it technically isn't original as it does make use of other preexisting music and pop culture symbols, but the act of creating a new piece of art with these things with an entirely different meaning is where the creativity lies. or at least i think so! but i totally understand your pov. thanks for your comment :]
2:45 Oh 2:46 Mother!
Snow
beck is so fucking good its unreal
Yes the bi king himself
Beck if you can hear me save me
for the Melvins sample: King Buzzo himself (Melvins frontman and guitarist) is in the video at that part :)
This is why I headcannon snow is bisexual because he gives that feeling
Pretty sure they’re not always true “samples” in that to get around copyright law, Beck would play the sections himself on actual instruments. Am I right about this?
ive heard this too. the devils haircut opening riff sounds a bit different than the original
im so mad because this movie wouldve been decent if they didnt give the misers and mother nature such horrid designs. took away all their charm from their original 1974 designs :(
This is MAD, and I love it!!
To those who are saying they’re disappointed to find out so much of Odelay is sampled, check out just HOW many amazing songs he recorded around that time that were of a basic rock band setup. Total Nirvana and Pavement vibes. Then there’s the Odelay bonus disc that one could look at as an entirely different album full of really interesting arrangements and sounds.
Awesome Video to say the least! Thanks for the sources! Odelay is such an amazing sample collage audio trip! So much southern funk and hip hop. Definatley up there with Beastie Boys Pauls Boutiqe
Goddamn…….uplifting and depressing at the same time, I’m a lifer to Beck, but this adds a new dimension that kinda takes away from his core creative artistry, super sampler is a 50/50 at best
What about jack-ass that's one of my favorites from Odelay with Them's cover of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
The original Jack frost.
I never knew that Beck wrote Ice Ice Baby. Mind blown.
In the 90s I only had superficial interest in Beck's work but a few months ago I realized that I should take a closer look. Great video! Thanks!
3:21 that really sounds JUST like Beck
woaw
Holy smokes. Mind blown
Nunca me di cuenta lo mucho que samplea Beck hasta que vi este video. Ese hombre es un genio.
Dang this really helped paved the way for the Avalanches!
Paul Weller (from The Jam) also did his own mash up of 'Walk on Guilded Splinters' in 1995 👌😸 ua-cam.com/video/2fyf1jcrnpc/v-deo.html
It's sonic Pop Art! ....You KNOW this dude has got a WILD vinyl collection!
Hotwax should be studied by generations to come. Masterpiece
Wow! Great list. I had no idea how many bits Beck sampled in Odelay. Here's one more Beck used Jackass, it's a cover of a Bod Dylan Song by Van Morrison and Them: ua-cam.com/video/aZeSsYmstfY/v-deo.html
Man those hot wax samples are buried 😮😂❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dooooope, thank you for compiling this!
This is brilliant! Please make more! I love seeing this kind of thing.
thanks for this video- very interesting and surprising to see
the videos of him from 1996 look like some of those really old 80s totp videos... i was born in 98 but i feel old
More like Seck, like Seck of shit **mic drop**
Man this is really eye blowing. Great work
And mind opening
Snow Miser is the Joker with Heat Miser being Batman.
How could you not include his savagery in the OG special
Not to be a poophead, but not all of these are samples. E.g. The Dust Brothers say that Beck just replayed Devil's Haircut guitars AFTER listening to the record just before.
I can see why a lot of people SIMP for Snow Miser. However, I think of him as like a loving father who loves messing around to make his son/daughter laugh. Therefore the reason why I also have a crush on him it's because well... he makes me laugh. Now, even though I liked both versions of the character, THIS one is better! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💙💙💙💙💙💙
Sampler et sans reproches !
The 'Where's It At' drums are not Lee Dorsey. Try Donny Hathaway.
i dont know why but like half the vocal samples on odelay i was sure that it was some phrases beck was saying because the voices are so similar
yeah same, some of these were really surprising to find that out!
@@BrokenKeys216 its the modesto drawl
You're not alone.

@@cs.0903 glad to know it thank you cs.0903
This is actually very upsetting
Jokes on you, Jack!
Dust Brothers made the samples
Best collage artist of the past 50 years. Hands down.
