Beautiful piece! My I ask where did you get the dimensional drawings from? Thanks
For sale ?
Magnificent Gribeauval cannon, but why show a cannon with the N of Napoleon and boxes with fleurs-de-lys symbol of royalty?
Amazingly meticulous and gorgeous
How often were these canons used in the American Revolutionary War?
Amazing 😮
As a bronze-casting sculptor, son of a machinist, and named after WWII naval artilleryman (MIA) I really loved seeing this. I found you because I am to give a lecture in late 2022 about the relationship of bronze sculpture and cannons, Napoleons consumed a lot of sculpture with some admixtures. I read about this transition from art to cannon when I was in art school back in the 70's but now can't find the article. If you have ever bumped into information about that I would appreciate it. But, thanks for making a marvelous model...I'm impressed!
Why the "N" for Napoleon and the fleur de li for the King you simply would not have had both!
You are absolutely right, but there is more : no Gribeauval field guns were cast under the reign of Napoleon, or, in other words, no Gribeauval field guns bear the Napoleonic cypher. These were year XI system guns, not Gribeauval.
The original drawings show the Monarch Monogram House of Bourbon on the barrel. I recently built a 1/12 scale version, in authentic materials. There are some other 'artistic licence' variations too...
Very nice cannon Zane!
Wonderful craftmanship! Congratulaions! What scale is it?
Awesome miniature cannon! I've built this model recently from scratch but on a much smaller scale (1/30)
Where can I buy one
