E-2C Hawkeye Night Carrier Landing
Переглядів 541 тис.10 років тому
Night carrier arrested landing. Well, almost night. A "pinky" good deal for my last night trap with the squadron. With comms and captions. And plat camera from about a mile. Pilot in the left seat is pilot at the controls (and wearing the camera). Pilot in the right seat is handling checklists, radio calls, and coordination with the CIC crew.
Bro this is super funny 🤣🤣🤣
That’s not even a pinky.
Why do you guys use potatos to count
Do you still get nervous landing on such a short strip?
Beautiful. 👏👏👏👏👏
Any landing u walk away from is a good one
Never heard that expression before. FFS
Wow! I’m a ex AF ramp guy and I’m always fascinated at the Navy Flyers because of their unique abilities. If I’m ever reborn I’m going to Navy Flight school🙏🙏👍🏻
Nice work, made it look easy, and we all know it isn't!!
Anybody know what the progression of aircraft is on the way to the Hawkeye?
Field grade night ops
I was a loadmaster on a c-5a . I will NOT fly on commercial airlines, unless absolutely necessary. But, I would ride on a rocket with a military pilot at the controls.
Hello darkness my ole friend .
There's nothing like hitting the traps in an C-2/E-2 truly the best carrier pilots in the game because the pilot is doing all the work NO FLY BY WIRE COMPUTER TO HELP. All stick, rudders, and powerlevers. FLY NAVY
Watched the glideslope indicator light to the ball, nice corrections.
The Right Stuff.
Nominal to profile
Gale, heavy rain, pitch black night. That would be fun..
This isn't at night. It's still light out. ✨
Who is Roger?
I might have to check my gamma... Night? It was better visibility, than during some days! 😁
Pinkie….but red ink….
My Dad had a handful of night landings on the Cowpens (CVL-25); June '43 - August '44, flying an Avenger. I CAN'T even...
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪
what's the vertical rectangular box on top of the panel with the lights on it for?
I still want to see a video showing and explaining how the talehook is connected to the fuselage.
Crack'd me up the way that Aviator called the ball.
highly skilled
i was very anxious watching this, i cant imagine doing it. i had an uncle that was a WWII fighter pilot in the Pacific he flew off the USS LEXINGTON. he talked a little about carrier takeoff and landings.
When you see these landing from the outside, it seems to easy and smooth...but from the cockpit it's a whole different story.
👍👍👍👍👍
What a fantastic video! They are so cool and professional.
Nerve wracking to say the least.
Great job gang!! 💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
No doubt pilot skills and the great engineering of machine and the rest of the systems but one should not forget the folks who designed the greatest training regime for the Navy pilots.
4 wires stripped……..good thing you got the OK 3 wire! 3 is career building. 4 is slightly high but not high enough for a wave off. 2 is low and not very career friendly…..especially during training. 1 is dangerously below glide path. Again not quite wave off territory and most likely will catch 1 or 2 but as a carrier aviator….trust me you won’t make a career of consistent 1 and 2 wires. Only thing below 1 is ramp strike and very career and potentially life ending. 4 is not good but at least gives you another pass. Bolter or hook skip is exactly what it means. Wave off is usually a no questions asked command. Maybe something the LSO or air boss/mini boss sees that pilot doesn’t. Previous aircraft not clear, personnel in the foul line area, equipment ….all means foul deck… Good pass and chalk another OK3 I. The log book…..OK 3 wire not only builds and develops individual pilot confidence and skill but also helps keep the boarding rate up for the squadron. Yes even though the wing works as a team for mission there is some competition to keep the “boarding rate “ up…..simply put boarding rate is the percent of traps that are OK3 both individual pilot and squadron rate. Not sure what the next generation of carrier pilots are going to do when they only build three wires. I would think that a 2 wire is the new OK3…
Pinky Recovery all the way, but hey it counts as a night pass. Nice pass !!!
What is the box with the lights??
bathroom lights
He absolutely nailed it.Right between the cross-hairs.Nice job!
The best pilot of the world
Is that three light indicator above the instrument panel a glide slope iILS type indicator?
No. AOA Angle of attack.
I'm just a private pilot. But I know a navy guy. He once joked to me that the 3 best things in life are a great dump, a great orgasm, and a great landing. A night carrier landing is all three!!
Night landings in a jet must be more stressful then anything else and if the sea is rough, OMG. We had an A6 Intruder crash on a night landing aboard the USS Midway. The co pilot ejected through the canopy and was killed and 8 guys on the flight deck lost their lives. This was during the Vietnam War. This was an 11 month cruise and stress levels had to be unbelievable at times. That was especially a horrible night for the entire ship. Many injured.
I wanted to see a ramp strike and the aircraft explode in a glorious ball of orange flame.
Why?
Night traps...where the sphincter muscle works quadruple overtime. Many Thanks, Navy and Marines. Ret E7 USAR
Awesome, I am sure these pilots are the cream of the crop.
Oh how neat, I was onboard that big ol girl at this time! So awesome!
Now imagine if the Earth was spinning 66,000 miles per hour...🤔
...the plane would have been spinning at 66,250 miles per hour. ✈️
Walk away. Pristine plane to use again.
was oke..
Nice....
