Well, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 👍🏾
Also TPO normally is installed two ways. With a glue type of adhesive or Heat welded at overlaps. I might be confusing with PVC single membrane or PVC may also have to same installations. Check and correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m pretty sure mechanically fastened means screw, nails or any metal fastener…etc. basically NOT adhesive, i.e. SA, hot mop, torch, cold process or glues. Correct me if I’m wrong please.
I have a similar question but my firewall is being built through a sec9nd floor with wood trust how would I seal the fire at the peak of the roof and though out the trust
🙏🙏🙏🙏
If you don’t mind, what’s the name of the book?
A Butterfly Canopy Design?
Awesome video…. Do you happen to remember where you got those plans? I am trying to reach myself how to read plans and become more proficient as a roofing GC/PM/Tech
If you do a web search for “holabird academy architectural drawings” there is a link to the drawings (pdf) that takes you back to the gc’s website (Cam Builds)
Just found your channel and I love it! Your videos are amazing and very helpful. Thanks!

Glad you enjoy it!
Hi Smith, Your videos are great and very helpful, many thanks for sharing
Glad you like them! My pleasure!
Your are greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing your time with us
I appreciate that
What makes your videos unique and cutting-edge are the pictures you are showing to have an idea of the real-life drawing we are seeing. I wish i could have that in school!
I’m a visual learner, so that’s how I can understand things better. Thank you for the insight that you left in your comment!
Keep up the good work. Your way of explaining and navigating the drawings is really helpful 👍
Thank you so much 😀
Hi Smith, you explained really well. Thank you for such a nice video.
Glad it was helpful!
Good video thank you
No problem 👍

It’s called Bluebeam
Great 👍👍

@SmithintheBuilding1984 thank you I just got a job as a project engineer and your videos has helped me understand drawings better definitely I recommend your videos to my friends that are in the trades

Hi, do you offer more detailed ground-up construction videos or maybe something like a coaching class, I was this for a long time doing commercial remodeling, and I just got hired for ground-up construction could you help me sharpen myself with new stuff need your help thanks.
Hi James, a few folks ah e asked for something similar. I am trying to see what I can put together that might be beneficial!
Thanks, Smith looking forward to this new video. TY.
Great Content!
Thank you, Warren!
Have you ever thought about teaching construction management at a university down the line. I know a lot of my professors were burnt out at GCs as PMs or supers
Noted. It’s something for me to work toward doing. Thanks for the suggestions
I am a owner builder and need some help reading my plans. Will you guide me?
What are you building?
I am building a single family ICF home
Wow! That’s great! I’ve done one short video about ICF homes, but I’m also familiar with a product that is similar to ICF. Google Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC). It’s a German technology, but there are homes and commercial buildings built with AAC across the US. What part of the process is your project in and how can I help?
I am asking my architect to explain the foundation plans and he is not willing, because it have some little square that looks like CM blocks on the perimeter/ exterior walls but they are not supposed to be CM blocks it's supposed to be Ic f And that's where I'm confused. I'm at the foundation process.
Can you do a video on cutting slabs for plumbing and electrical, I'm having a hard time identifying where id be cutting trenching and pouring back.
Good question because the arch and structural drawings don’t always coordinate. It’s usually indicated on the Mep drawings
@SmithintheBuilding1984 thank you for your response. I get a lot of rfp on cutting slabs and re pouring, I find it difficult to gather all the information needed in a timely manner.
Which software did you use to view your building drawings?
I am using Bluebeam. You can use it for free, you just need to register.
great video. visuals are clear and easy to read. i like your conversational tone. it's easy to follow you. sometimes people read from a script and as a result sound monotone or read it too quickly. but your pace makes it easy to understand you. of course, great content too. i'm not sure if you'll cover it in a future video, but will you get into explaining the connection details of steel? bolting, welding, and combinations of them as they relate to the structural forces?
Hey, I appreciate you for leaving a comment and for the insight. Yes, I can talk about steel connections. Is there anything specific that you’d like for me to cover in that video, besides an explanation of connection types, with some accompanying photos?
These videos are so good. Im an GC intern and in school for Construction management. Keep em coming
Very cool, sir. Sounds like you’re off to a great start! What kind of projects are you working on?
@@SmithintheBuilding1984 hotels and big apartments currently
That sounds like a great opportunity. I have 5 interns starting this Monday. Are you getting into submittal reviews and RFIs? Doing any takeoffs?
@@SmithintheBuilding1984 yes I do takeoffs, write RFIs, review submitals and shop drawings and sometimes I’m with the super on site
@@Nathan-np5io you’re getting some great rotational experience! Hopefully, the summer won’t be too brutal. It hit mid-90s in Texas today.
best work. Pls start a series of how to estimate all divisions from CSI?
Thank you I will take your suggestions. I have multiple years of experience as an Estimator. So I don’t. Mind sharing what I know.
✌outstanding job!

Can you do a video on the most common types of connectors? Connectors for wood & steel trusses, beams, and columns. When and why a particular one is used for different senecios. Thanks!
Thank you for your comment. Yes, I will plan that for a future video.
This was very helpful
Thank you for the comment, sir
Would you be able to go over how to calculate the jamb depth from the door detail. That would be very helpful ! Thank you :)
Sure thing!

I just finished my fe civil exam and finding entry level jobs. Do u have any tips for me. I dont have any local experience.
Where are you based at? In my experience with construction. This is one industry where you can take an entry level position and work your way into more senior positions by working hard, adapting your company’s culture and taking opportunities for growth. Construction is also a people business, so knowing how to work with a diverse group of individuals is key to your success!
@@SmithintheBuilding1984 right now i am in Southern California, finding for entry jobs but they all required some kinds of local experience or something. I am really happy that u reply my comment.
@@kyotoryu4707I would look for a “Project Engineer” title. That is a good entry-level position that pays well and fits your degree.
@@SmithintheBuilding1984 i am now working as a project engineer. Today is my third day and may i know the roadmap of this project engineer to higher position. I also want the pe civil license as well.

Hey Smith, I enjoy the way you explained the plan building codes. I am currently studying for the ICC commercial building construction and this information is greatly appreciated.
