@@EffequalsMA Brutal. I hope you didn’t hurt the bike, or get injured. I don’t mind falling here and there as long as my arm doesn’t dislocate, and my bike doesn’t get scratched haha.
Nah, nothing serious. Bruised hip and I had to tweak the handguard and crash cage back straight. Usual stuff.
@@EffequalsMAperfect, makes for a good story. Gives the bike some character.
@@greatwhitenorthoverland Would that were the only story I have of putting this bike down......
@@EffequalsMA I’m at 4 so far
I am having an extended chat with Maverick, from 550 Performance on why the EFI in this bike works like it does. It was precipitated by a decline in performance on the Stage 1 tuned ECU as the temp dropped. Below 20C, there is an additional enrichment scalar used and, combined with my stock exhaust, it's over-fueling the engine, on that tune. The stock computer is closer to ok in that situation so, in it went, for a minute. I told him it's below 20C for 3/4 of the year down here in the Lower Mainland. I didn't really notice the performance drop off until it hit single digits but, my solution was to buy a full exhaust, lol. I've been an EFI guy since the 80s so, it's fascinating to hear the knowledge of an expert on this platform. He also notes that EFI does sample baro at startup but, only then, until the key is cycled again. So, he suggests a key cycle if riding at changing altitude.
@@EffequalsMA oh damn. Have you changed the exhaust to match the stage 1 tune? Or is the exhaust still stock with the oem exhaust.
@@greatwhitenorthoverland It's the OEM exhaust. I wanted to leave room for that mod down the road so, I just got the S1 91 tune right away. Whatever, full exhaust is in a truck headed my way.
@@EffequalsMAcopy that. Sounds like it’s aftermarket exhaust time. :)
Did the same myself after watching a video on it here. It def improved the angle of that stupid brake cable but in doing so I found it now hides the complete bank of instument lights at the top of the screen including the indicator lights when I'm riding. It's better than it was I guess but I was told that cable tying it completely from view as many do is a def no no apparently. Its the only falut I can find with the bike so I can live with it.
@@rosswilliams531 definitely better then the stock set up, hey. Did you use the same part as I did, or something else?
Yup it seems so. Its a decent fix as the sloped angle annoyed me more than the actual raised cable so at least its straight and level across my field of view now even though it hides my whole instument bank. Must be an ocd thing😂

@@thelonewolf666 Thank you for the Kind worlds. This video was taken a few weeks ago when my family and I went back home for the week. The shed behind the bike was filled with stuff, that was not mine to remove, and there wasn’t any room to store my bike. The garage by the house was full of furniture from a relative passing away. The only option was to store the bike outside for a few days. I usually run a battery tender, and a tarp, but I was under the impression that the week was going to be a warm one. Thanks for watching.
Great tutorial.
Thank you for the Kind words. I hope you enjoy the other 300 content as well. I am slowly learning how to use my GoPro, and edit program as a hobby.
So no battery tender needed? I was wondering if id have any battery issues in the winter with mine.. putting a tender on seams like a pain..
@@fuadsflkas I would recommend using a battery tender in the cold weather, especially because these bikes don’t have a kick starter. I always have a battery tender on my bike when I’m Not riding it, and a bike tarp. My plug in is Right where my bike sits, so it’s easy enough. This bike stays outside all year round, and sometimes it drops to -20c. This video was filmed a couple weeks ago, on a trip back home up north, and the bike was only outside for 7 days. I gotta spoon on me Tusk D sports as the IRCs are utterly wasted with over 10K on them......
@@EffequalsMA Awesome. I think those will be my next set of tires for the 3Hunny. I’ve been adding other mods and trying to get my use out of the stock tires for now. They usually have enough traction, but this trip I definitely put the stock tires to the test. My next video that’s coming out on Tuesday, I unfortunately lay my new bike down 3 times, and feel it’s safe to say that the stock tires met their match that day.
@@greatwhitenorthoverland I've probably laid the 300L down 10 or 11 times now, on and off road, As I mentioned before, the crash cage and wraparounds are getting a workout but the bike is undamaged, other than a couple cosmetic scuffs. The IRCs are centre rib flat now, knobs totally gone. Maybe consistently ripping the bike up to top speed helped, plus rocky and rough terrain, off road.
Ah ya I need to get some crash cages on my bike. Did you post a link to the ones you have? I wouldn’t mind getting mine setup for some more aggressive terrain.
@@greatwhitenorthoverland I did give you my critique of the two available options, T Rex Racing and Outback MotorTek in a previous video. I have both, on different bikes. T Rex is cheaper but the bars are a lower mount. The Outbacks are higher and cover more of the plastics. Outbacks are Canadian sourced, if that matters to you. I did note a couple QC issues with the Outbacks but, nothing serious, just a little extra fiddle farting around in fitment. The T Rex bars on my other bike fit to the thousandths of an inch, perfect.
@@EffequalsMAyesyes, that’s right my bad. I think for next winter I will fit the bike out with some more protection. I have a skid plate on order.
I think it might be time to change the stock tires if you're going to be regularly riding in the snow. That looked pretty slick.
@@FlightDirector Hey these are very wise words. The trails were definitely a little slick for stock tires. I was pleasantly surprised they did as good as they did tho. This snow storm definitely caught my wife and I off by surprise.

@@EffequalsMA ah no way! Hopefully you don’t hurt the bike.. or yourself :) I need to buy a set for my 300L.. any recommendations for crash cage?!
@@greatwhitenorthoverland Really only two: Outback Motortek and T rex Racing. Both use a different approach. OB has the bars high, covering the side plastics better, Trex mounts them low, which makes them less likely to bend in a spill. Both will work but, both need a set of wraparound hand guards to be totally effective. The OB is significantly more expensive than the T Rex. I wanted the high bars but, I did come to struggle a little on install, as the bars had a touch of weld walk. fiddling around with loosening and tightening got them close to a right fit. TRex, which I have on my other bike, fit perfectly right out. I have now dumped the CRF at least ten times, twice on road and 8 off. Bike is still perfectly fine with nothing broken. A few scuffs but that's it so, it speaks to the value of the OB bars as the bike would have been totalled by now without them.
I have not, as yet, bent the stock cheese handlebars due to the wraparounds, which take the hit and don't catch like the stock bars will.
@@EffequalsMA yeah those would be a good colour for sure. I think I’m getting the Acerbis ones pretty soon here.
@@greatwhitenorthoverland I have Zeta and they have done well. The do tend to roll when down on pavement, due to the clamp force limit but, that's hard to avoid and they still do the job of protecting hands and levers.

@@greatwhitenorthoverland Yeah, massive. The bike pitched me way to far forward stock and I felt I was having to grip the bars way too hard because I was leaning over.
@@EffequalsMA ah gotcha. I did notice my shoulders were a bit more sore when riding with the stock setup.
Hey there! Just wanted to check how the test ride went after the installation. Do the cables have enough length, and are there any issues when turning the handlebars fully? How’s the throttle response as well? I watched another video where there were some issues, but the handlebar there wasn’t stock, so I guess that might have been the reason. I’m considering getting risers myself, so I’m really interested. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
@@pers105 Heyheyhey. The ride afterwards felt the same as it did throttle wise, however the handlebar position feels way better, and feels like a big improvement. My cables had enough length, and the Bars turn like stock. I did notice They feel a bit higher when walking beside the bike of course, but they feel much better in sitting position. I am just over 6’ tall, and I tend do sit a bit closer to the fuel tank when I ride, so having them a bit taller, and forward a short ways helps me out a bit. I have a link in the description of these riders, but you might get the RAYANA ones, instead of the MOTOWOLF ones. Only difference is the lettering.
