For the most part, college football is a network of regional fan bases consuming a product that is televised nationally (unlike MLB). Because it is regional, many fans stop watching when their team(s) and/or conference is no longer in contention. The NFL doesn't have this problem because of the level of play, star power, fantasy football and the incredible options for gambling.

First time here, this is pretty cool, it's like old school Sports Reporters on ESPN, well thought out opinions without the bias, performative yelling or need for hot takes that consume most of today's sports conversations. Nice job guys.

Two reasons. While the teams are "two of the biggest brands" in college football, they are also two of he biggest brands to hate. How many fans of Big 10 teams were pulling for Notre Dame ? How many from across the nation were pulling against ND just on general principals ? and secondly, the games were stretched waaay too far apart. They should be Saturday to Saturday to Saturday , bam bam bam.

Pope has shown very good ability in controlling game tempos. He's done it with defense, you control the tempo with Defense. I think every person in the country knew Tennessee was going to hammer inside. Slow game, in the 60's. Calipari relied on the same kind of attack. grind it out. ugly basketball, and if you get against someone that can shoot , you lose.

Barnes says Lanier has to step up and get open. Coach needs to get off of his case and set some screens up for him. Lanier is working hard to get open but with little help. They were dominate when they gave him opportunities. It's good to see everyone step up but you needed more shots by Lanier. Not his fault coach, yours.

Rick is doing an horrible disservice to this team by benching Dubar. We are going to need Dubar if we want to make a Match run, and benching him in these games is not getting him experience. If you are mad at him passing up a shot, bench him for 1 minute to prove a point. Keeping him confined to less than 15 minutes for the past 3 games is ridiculous and it doesn't help the team. Barnes needs to be working sets through Okpara and through Dubar to get them involved in the offense and stress their capabilities. Just bad mismanagement IMO.

Barnes has always played a short rotation!! Depth doesn’t matter because he doesn’t play them!! 8 man rotation is they way Coach rolls.

I don't see any situation where we end up #19. If we lose to AL, GA, and FL, we go 9-3 and will not go to #19 in SEC at #19. The RB play may be hurt a little but our WR room can't get worse. Factor that in with some bad luck on dropped balls and the return of some great TEs and I don't see how the offense goes down. To me, this season will depend on how the defense looks without ONL and Big O at D-Line, and also how CBs look without McCoy (I could see him not playing first 6 games).

I'm a Buckeye fan & the reason OSU has been relevant regardless of the CFP is they have the mindset of the SEC. Football matters more in the SEC, at Ohio State & a few other schools. It's silly to count out the SEC. The system may change but there are programs who will always be relevant.

Veer and Shoot only works in college and with the right athletes,and your elite college teams are running a pro style offense. Yeah it’s a problem because the 5 stars what to be prepared for the NFL.

The take on Hyatt at 1:55 is insanity on it's face. When you give WR's more of a choice of what dynamic routs they prefer, they light up teams like Saban's Bama team for 5 TD's. You do that with speed and skill. I'm not sure what planet suit guy is on, but in the NFL, if you can run fast, execute dynamic routes you can be a star in the NFL. Do you know what the Giants run offensively? There, you see my point? You need the scheme to fit the WR's preferred and most productive skills and routs. NY Giants do not do this. As a result they squander even more talented players on that team to sad stats. But no one is saying, "they can't play in the NFL". At what point sir are you going to call a spade a spade. It's the Giants, it's not Hyatt.

Hyatt's time can be explained by Peyton Manning and his view on it. "It's a dumb mistake not to play Hyatt more than they do". Look what happened to the team when they stopped playing Hyatt, they couldn't move the ball to save their lives. When you run a basic offense that is not dynamic enough, you get the Giants. In 23 and 24 for whatever reason, Heupel hasn't ran the passing offense you need to run a Tempo Spread offense. To date, there is zero proof a Tempo Spread offense WR is at any kind of disadvantage compared to WR's who have played in traditional offenses. Tillman had very average numbers, so that alone can be on him.

Hmmm this is backwards for a few reasons. Number one, if you know anything about routes, in 22 and before Heupel ran more dynamic routs for WR's. We've seen Hyatt, Velus Jones, Jennings do very well in the NFL, so, no it's not the NFL's view on Heupel's offense. Nor about his QB's. Joe Milton did in one game what it took Drake Maye 13 games to do offensively. Not every 1st team is going to work out for you as a QB 1st or 2nd year in the NFL. Detroit has a passer, not a runner in Goff and he wilts like ice cream in Summer heat when he plays a team that can pressure him. Lastly, Hooker has already proved he can move the ball in ways Goff can't, his legs. Plus, Hooker has shown he can move the ball against any NFL team. Goff can get them either into the playoffs or one game shy but that's it.

I really wish Heupel would go make an offer to Lincoln Riley to come be his OC. Heupel has got to stop trying to be HC and OC. It just doesnt work. Riley is not a good HC, but is a very good OC from the same system.

As an Alabama fan who was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, I think that the SEC's reign of dominance that lasted 25 or 30 years is over and the B1G is once again the kings of College Football. The B1G has tv deals with three different networks, a footprint in major US Cities (NYC, DC/Baltimore, Philly, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, and LA), and clear definitive tiers in the B1G. The SEC has one source of income (ESPN/ABC), not many markets that are either major markets, long established markets, or traditionally tied to the conference markets (Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Nashville, Orlando, St. Louis, Tampa), and no clear top teams in the league as everyone had at least 2 losses by Championship Sunday.
