For 60 years the camera has been a major part of my life capturing movies and stills. In my career in policing I was a Forensic Identification Specialist photographing and processing crime scenes. The camera captured the worst of humanity. To counter this I would escape to the wilderness with my camera photographing nature and wildlife to restore my mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well being.

Fishing With Fred - His Introduction
Going through my video files I found several tapes of going long lining fishing with my brother Fred during May 2001. We fished the West Coast of Vancouver Island. I will be editing a series of videos of this experience. This video is an introduction of Fred, the old man of the sea. Fred is truly an Elder of commercial fishing. I’m very proud of what he has accomplished during his lifetime. Enjoy.

Walking The Beat - Last Day As A Police Officer

In January 2001 I retired from my 28 years as a police officer. I ended my last day walking the beat, the same detail as my first day on the job during January 1973. I walked the beat with Terry who was the best partner I worked with. My mentor and friend, Karl Spreitz, videotaped the day. As a 75 year old dealing with cancer and memories from my career in policing I take my camera to nature for visual meditations. My favourite place where I go with my dogs is the Tsolum Woodland located in the Comox Valley. It is my wish that through my channel that I can share my journey with others having similar struggles.

Dealing with cancer I find wellness in ecotherapy, walking my favourite Tsolum River Trail with my two dogs. You can feel the energy of the forest that wraps around you. Nature is the great healer.

An elderly person once was asked if he lived his life again what would he do different. He said he’d take more risks. Lynn and I took a risk doing the longest zip line on Vancouver Island on Mt. Washington. I have a fear of heights so this venture was quite the challenge. To get over your fears you have to embrace them. For Lynn and I life is now about experiences.
