I think it’s that she’s looking at the younger more “beautiful” one in a parent way in that she’s come from her so it’s the only good part of her and she knows if she ends it she’s just now left with what was before so it’s like that part of her can go on living the dream life she wanted so that no matter how jealous she gets and hates herself she knows that sue is from her and she can’t let go of her creation till it gets to the very last point like it’s not to do with love but just the fact that sue is actually hers and she wouldn’t exist without her
