Koutokuin", which had been built in 1480, was designated as the Edo Bodaiji Temple by the Ii family, the lords of the Hikone domain,
The Ii family, the lords of the Hikone domain, designated "Kotokuin", which had been built in 1480, as their family temple in Edo.
Later, in 1659, the second lord of the Hikone Domain, Naotaka Ii, established the temple under the name of "Kyushoin-den Gotoku-tenji".
The temple was renamed Gotokuji Temple in 1659 in honor of the second feudal lord Ii Naotaka's Buddhist name, "Kyushoin-den Gotoku Ten-ei Dai-jishi,
The temple was renamed Gotokuji Temple in 1659 in honor of the second feudal lord Ii Naotaka, whose name was Kyushoin-dono Gotoku Ten'ei Daijishi.
The temple is the largest of its kind in the area and is a nationally designated historic site,
It is the largest nationally-designated historic site in the area.
【Gotokuji Temple and the beckoning cat child】
One day, a lord passing through this area on his way back from hawking was beckoned by a cat at the temple gate and decided to stop by.
While he was staying at the temple, thunder suddenly rumbled and rain began to fall.
The lord was very moved by his good fortune to be able to avoid the thunderstorm and enjoy talking with the monk.
The lord was moved by his good fortune, and he was able to talk with the monk, Ii Naotaka, the lord of the Hikone domain.
With the support of Naotaka, Gotokuji Temple was rebuilt in 1633.
After that, Gotokuji Temple called the cat that brought good fortune "Manekineko" (a cat that beckons good fortune),
The temple built the Shofuku-den (Hall of Good Luck) to enshrine these cats. The hall is dedicated to the cat, which is called "Maneko Neko," and is enshrined at Gotokuji Temple,
The hall is visited by many worshippers who wish for family safety, business prosperity, and good fortune.
Inside the hall, there is a standing image of the Bodhisattva of Mercy, Kannon.

would like to start a yatai business (selling street food ),does anyone knows how to participate. How much do I have to pay and where to register I went to a matsuri at ueno and asked 2 yatai sellers and they didn’t want to tell me , they just said not anyone can do 😂 may be they don’t want some competition

    • @japanotakunews
      @japanotakunews 2 роки тому

To open a temporary business, you need to submit an application to obtain a business license to the health center that has jurisdiction over the area where you will open the store. When the submitted application is officially accepted, it becomes a "business permit" and you can sell food and drink at the stalls. In order to be allowed to operate at food stalls, it is essential to have equipment that meets the standards of the health center in charge.
