[ FOOD on MINI-TRANSAT ] 🍽🍱😋
Переглядів 1162 роки тому
No kitchen on a race boat, all you have is a jetfoil, to boil water really fast to rehydrate freeze-dried packages of food. Lyophilise & Co. in Lorient has a wide variety of really tasty ones, that’s where Jay went to buy all his food for his Mini Transat race. For breakfast and snacks he went to Biocoop-LaBelzSaison a supermarket which offers great bio products. 🎬 @lizzart-production Merci @Ly...

That will a fun boat to press... Better learn proper knots before you get offshore though !
nice taste in music
ret@rded. Unless you're Joshua Slocum, you're sucking wind with me.
Cool⛵🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Beautiful⛵😍👍🤔👍🤔👍👍👍
Good luck and fast sailing, SkipRay, Kenmare, Ireland.
Very interesting, what will be the total dry weight of the boat less provisions? Fair sailing, SkipRay.
Wishing you godspeed!
01:21 Wow!!
great stuff!!
Good man Jay..¿did you wave to st john's (;-).happy journeys..Ian wood from Australia also did this trip too,sailing..
Nice that you are back on UA-cam
So cool that you are back on UA-cam
Does anybody know where to find edge of reason? Is she still sailing under this name? Thanks for any information.
What a great mission! Congrats on your trip.
Where did you find this beautiful LONG sculling oar? I am getting crazy to find one in italy!
This type of sculling oar is from Bretagne, France. The oar was giving to us by a family from Bretagne. It is very popular here, they even have sculling races.
Un très beau proto
Electric engine ? You have one genset + batteries ?
Completely useless video
Thanks man! Why is it useless? Is it because you like motors? It's ok you can admit it, you have a motor boat don't you ;)
I am interested in using this technique on a 27 - 32 foot boat, so this video has been not only completely useful, but immensely inspiring as well. Thank you so much taking the time to provide such excellent content. -Brett
I was thinking of doing this as a backup to an electric motor. Do you think a 12 ton boat is too heavy to skull? At what wind level do you not consider skulling as an option?
It really come down to leverage so the more heavy your boat the longer oar you would need. Messenger is 7 tonnes with a 6 meter sculling oar and I can scull as long as there is no wind.
@@coconutssailteam thank you
This is not an option with any kind of wind. An alternative to sculling - if you're in shallow waters - is a small anchor and rope. Anchor is thrown or otherwise delivered forward of your bow (e.g. using a dinghy), you then use the rope to pull yourself towards the anchor position. Slowly and gently, to avoid the anchor slipping.
@@Verradonairun my comment was 2 years ago. since then I've installed the electric motor and its been great. I have not had to worry about it but if my motor goes out I'll use the dinghy motor to move it. In winds i just sail. But you're absolutely correct, my boats way too big for a skulling oar.
Sorry, I didn't check the date of your post. I'm happy you made it all work. @@PyeGuySailing
Your boom looks really interesting.. Whats going on there?
It is the original prototype boom of Messenger in 1982. The idea is to make a stiff and light structure but it is mostly stiff and not so light and would of been a nightmare to build, but it looks cool though.
Great boats I need one
Thats is one amazing build and the quality of finish is on another level. Good luck in the race and what an amazing family you have.
Thank you Bill!
I'm a rigger that makes custom rigs in Dyneema, mostly for cruising boats as a direct replacement to wire. On paper PBO doesn't seem to stack up to Dyneema in terms of tensile strength or creep, but I'm still really interested in it. Typically I work in diameters much larger than what the Mini 6.50 requires, but the stuff I do never needs splits. There are always pros and cons, different applications... I'd still love to have the opportunity to try this.
Hi ! Do you know if there's any dinghy sailing club in Isafjordur or a place where you can put a dinghy for a year ? Good luck with your mini 6.50 project !
Hello Hugo! Sorry for the late reply, Sæfari is the name of the sailing club in Isafjordur and Torfi Einarsson is the guy who takes care of it.
Such a great project and so little views.
I thought a reguirement was self righting.
grat work wery interesting
Lovely vid, great boat, happy kids, start them young!!
Can I take this boat dimensions/proportions..and make it larger, for use with faster cruising? I can't live in such a small "Hole". But if I made the boat 10-12m, same proportions...with goal of fast cruising. Possible? No racing, just fast cruising for longer journeys.
Awesome - Designer ?

hello
What is the name of this TS42?
quite impressed by what you've done ! Dunno if this boat is finished but the very little space to live plus the foils made me very interested in. So....
Yes the boat is nearly ready for launching! You can learn more about our project on our website www.coconuts.is and facebook page @CoconutsSail
The kid made too much noise.
girls are in school.......?
Since we have been in France the kids have been attending public school.
Great boat ! What a crew LOL !! Have you done any long passages?
7 years nomadic sailing around the world, check some of our videos passages on our channel ;)
What are the dimensions for your sculling oar?
6meters its a big one!
I am keeping my current auto pilot. These units are to noisy :-)
You could get spoiled on a boat like that. Thanks for sharing. I love the life you are giving your children , the best! Cheers Warren
Not a name we know in the USA , great that there is other product out there. Will you sail any races this year? Cheers Warren
so cute
Double speed was tough! I listen to a pod cast from a southern US sailor at 1.5 speed as he has that slow southern drawl and I get bored so 1.5 works but double speed is too much. Great to hear anything you have going on though. Cheers Warren
We've added English and French subtitles ;)
Hi Donald and partner! Take it easy, no need to speed the video up. Happy to hear from you! You must have so much to tell. Seeing the little bits here and there I realized what a heck of a job you are doing. I hope you can work from home on the computer. So much better to be on the water and work then in a stuffy office, or the lowest hell, a cubical.
Thanks for the encouragements!
Loïck Peyron is a riot! One of my all time favorites. Thanks for posting a fun video! You guys are great! I'm often pointing people to your interviews by Drake Paragon on YT if they really want to know what it like to sail away 'off the grid'. Cheers Warren
I don't speak French but I love it. And what a little professional :)
👍✔
Very original way of putting this together. Respect for Luna and her teachers.
Wow congrats! Smooth and swift sailing ahead! :)
Professional !
