Award Winning Fauxsegi Cabinet
Переглядів 542Місяць тому
Here's my homage to a traditional Japanese marquetry technique called yosegi! During the making of this video, I didn't realize the cabinet lighting was in "party mode" for several minutes. Also, please ignore my poor editing towards the end... too far along now to go back and fix it :P Thank you! #woodworking #yosegi #marquetry #inlay #laser #cabinet
My POOP Build

A cheeky name, but I pulled no stops in building this cabinet! Dovetails, triple tenons, mitered doors, compound piston fit drawers, and a cute little laser inlay.
Hello, Woodworkers!

Welcome! In my very first video, I share why I'm launching this channel: to share my own design-build projects, and create a series of beginner-friendly tutorials. I'll also talk about my background, passion for woodworking, and what inspires me in the shop. Join me on this creative journey :) #woodworking #intro

    Fantastic work on all of your projects David. I’m new to the channel today and really like what I have seen. You won a lot of awards already but I would like to give you a highly coveted award from me for the new UA-cam woodworking channel of the year. Congratulations and I hope to see much more from you… This recognition in this message will be your certification of accomplishment. 🤣🤣🤣😎

    It's gorgeous. Did you use full-blind dovetails on the carcass or are those just straight miters?

      Just miters, but one day I will try full blind dovetails with mitered edges!

    Interesting. I just purchased an XTool S1 with similar ideas for use as opposed to what you see most people using them for. Unfortunately I am a slow learner on anything computerized (old guy)! Look forward to seeing more of your ideas. Hopefully I will figure out video editing as well so I can share some of my ideas. Thanks for the video!

      Well, for no reason other than you said Red Rocks I am going to follow you. My daughter was married at Red Rocks, lives in Castle Rock. I lived outside of Aspen but now on the east coast. Looking forward to seeing where this journey takes you! Shame there aren’t more programs like the one at RR Community College.

      @@meadowlarkadventuregear Lol got to make due! Are you self taught or have you taken any classes?

    • @meadowlarkadventuregear
      @meadowlarkadventuregear 2 місяці тому

      @ learned mostly from my Dad who had his shop in the basement. A little in shop class in High School (when they still taught it), and from watching the New Yankee Workshop with Norm Abrams on PBS lol! Lastly I consulted a lot of books and experimented a lot. I think a fundamental understanding of tools and woodworking is why I can do my craft well. Most of the guys interested in making bows are not cabinet makers.

      A little bit since we have to position ourselves. Usually, you can operate alone, but it's my first time and Neil is just making sure the table stays flat on the surface. If it lifts, the bit will catch and send the piece flying!

    Finish. Sand the rest of the veneer off, then replace it. Anything else will just be ugly.

    Why are you ripping it with a band saw if you have a jointer you have a table saw

    • @MoonRabbitWoodworker
      @MoonRabbitWoodworker 11 місяців тому

      It's safer and more efficient for me to cut on bandsaw. The veneer likes to wiggle around which could catch on table saw and the bandsaw kerf is smaller. But definitely doable on table saw with a veneer sled.
