Psychological Techniques for Managing Pressure and Anxiety Before a Driving Test
The #podcast outlines #psychological #techniques to #managepressure and #anxiety before a #drivingtest, yet it does not explicitly discuss the limitations of these approaches. However, based on the descriptions of the techniques, certain potential limitations can be inferred:
#Individual Variability: The effectiveness of these techniques may vary significantly from person to person. What works well for one individual might not be as effective for another due to differences in personality, anxiety levels, and coping mechanisms. For instance, some may find visualization helpful, while others might struggle. Similarly, some could discover breathing exercises calming, while others might not experience the same benefit.
Practice and Consistency: Most of these techniques require consistent practice to be effective. If these techniques are not practised regularly, they may not be helpful during a stressful situation like the driving test. For example, visualization should be practised daily, and the anchor technique requires practice to associate the gesture with calm feelings. Without consistent effort, the methods may be ineffective.
Time Commitment: Techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation and mindfulness require dedicated time and may be challenging to implement if one is short on time, especially right before a driving test. While some techniques, like box breathing, can be used immediately before the test, others might require more preparation.
Situational Limitations: Certain techniques may be challenging to use in specific situations. For example, while cognitive restructuring and thought-stopping help manage negative thoughts, they might be challenging to implement effectively when someone is experiencing high levels of anxiety. Likewise, exposure therapy might not always be feasible due to practical constraints such as time or access to suitable environments.
Not a Quick Fix: These techniques are not a quick fix for anxiety but require continuous effort and commitment. They are designed to manage anxiety, not eliminate it completely. While reward systems can help reduce pressure, the underlying anxiety might still be present if not addressed by other methods.
Potential for Misapplication: Techniques like thought-stopping could be counterproductive if applied too aggressively, leading to increased frustration if not executed correctly.
It is important to note that while these techniques can be beneficial, they might not address underlying issues contributing to anxiety. If anxiety is severe or persistent, seeking professional help from a therapist or counsellor may be necessary.

#basingstoke #driversmistakes #drivingexam The #driver did much better in this part of the test than in the previous part. He dealt with a #spiralroundabout well; however, when the satnav instructed about bear left and then bear right, he ended up in the right lane. He was probably probably focusing mainly on the bear right rather than the bear left, which had come before. Bear right or left is...

Here are the 5 main ideas or key thoughts from the provided text: 1. During the driving test, it's important to not rush and instead take a few seconds to understand the examiner's instructions before taking action. 2. Proper use of signals, mirrors, and observations are crucial to safe driving, especially when approaching junctions, roundabouts, and lane changes. 3. Slowing down gradually when...

Response To Signs and Normal Driving Position #drivingtesttips #drivingtestfail

In this video, the driver failed to see temporary signs telling him the left lane is closed due to road works and he continued to drive in the left lane til the very last moment. The second serious fault was about normal lane change because at the end of the road works the driver failed to move back into the left lane.

summary of the driving test: The driving examiner explained that the test would last 40-45 minutes and cover various roads and traffic conditions. They instructed the learner driver to follow the road ahead unless directed otherwise by signs. The examiner said that roughly 20 minutes would be independent driving where they follow a set route. They noted that at any time they may ask the learner...

Do you need to signal before you exit a spiral roundabout if you are staying in the same lane?
It’s helpful to signal before exiting a spiral roundabout, especially in urban environments where pedestrians may be present after the roundabout and not immediately visible. While many drivers rely on traffic lights to determine when to go, taking the extra step to signal demonstrates good driving practice. Signalling before exiting every roundabout-not just spiral ones-can enhance safety and communication on the road. Just ensure that signalling doesn’t distract you from maintaining complete control of your vehicle, but if so, then yes, it can be avoided to prioritise control over the car.
Thats really helpful, thanks for your reply.
I live in Basingstoke. Your student had the dubious pleasure of negotiating some of the most potholed roads of our town.
I would agree so definitely positioning could be improved and thanks for highlighting
Oh jesus. I'm a Basingstoke-ian 😂😂😂😂😂
I love your videos I live in Basingstoke and this has helped me so much thank you sir
Glad to hear it!😊 and thanks for such lovely words
could you explain why 6:26 is a minor
The minor was about approach speed, and as you can see in the video, the use of the brake was a bit strong
3rd exit she forgot to use indicating
Hello, are you available for some lessons coming week
Hello, thanks for this video. 4:00 you stopped on the double line. Will it be a problem at the real test?
it's not a double line
I love Winchester :)
I failed coz I hadn't enough speed in single carriageway.. :(
Hi how do I get in touch to book a lesson. ? Also do you offer automatic lessons. How much please
Very nice video with excellent narrative. Do you still provide driving sessions or Mock test in this area? Thanks
❤❤
Ma Sha Allah My Son ❤❤
This was a very informative video. Thanks. Is this really a major fault. Because my examiner also told me the lanes that I need to take. And asked me to move in the right side lane on various occasions. Great work making this video. Basingstoke needs more videos like these. 🎉
Thanks for the feedback, and yeah, the examiners will assist during the test, mainly if confusion may happen due to less visible signs or late instructions from the Sat Nav. Also, such mock exams are usually strictly marked by instructors than the actual assessment by the examiners because, as instructors, our job is different from the examiners.
hello mate do you have a nephew called tyler?
Hi i have a question: why you drive in the left side ? Isnt right side ? Is winchester road is different from others ottawa roads ?
Thank you for making this video. Q please, when am on the left lane, wanting to exit at first exit, should I wait until all lanes are clear before entering the round about please? Or just the lane towards first exit?
Is this a sullivan road...brithon hill test route.
No manoeuvre performed in this test ?
What time of the day was this test? The roads look fairly quiet
That girl there is my teacher olivia hamilton

Very good video, I'm doing a test soon in Winchester as well. So helpful :)
BTW I passed my test in my own car and I think this video did help me. I didn't actually have an instructor, I 've done just private practice with my brother in my car. Thanks

when turning right at battery hill onto romsey road, do oncoming cars have priority or how does it work? great video btw👍
That specific junction no one has priority if both cars are planning to turn right so always try to predict other driver’s actions and use space appropriately
Thank you for sharing 🎉
Hi abbas if i come there u can give me mock test
Do you have to indicate right too when approaching as when you go straight forward the only way you can go is right?
You should indicate if view is restricted means if there is a possibility that there mighbe some pedestrians etc as it is not necessary that everyone know the signs, road markings or sometimes even highway code. Think about a tourist for example
This gives the impression that the driver is not comfortable with so many corners.
Hi Michael yea you are right to an extent, in fact for the first time drove on different side of the road, and yea it took some time to get used to it✌️
great job....☺
Thanks😊
Thanks sir for your helpful video
Thanks sir for your video. It’s help us a lot. When u explaining it seems so easy. But in practical for me it’s very difficult. 😢 Thanks
I can understand that Shirin, you can use the same method first 3 steps will be exactly the same however 4th one full Right lock can be tricky so i will suggest stop few times and think if your car becomes straight will you be behind the front car or you will be more towards the middle of the road. If you think more to the middle of the road keep going back slightly and then do full right lock
@@wasimabbas9536 thanks sir. My test 29th august morning but I’m struggling for this exercise. Hope examiner’s will not give me this . But your video help me lots. I’ll follow it. Thanks sir for your reply ❤️
Sir do you have any video of reverse bay parking? Or forward bay parking? Plz give me the link sir. Thanks
These videos are so good. Can you please film more complete test routes at Basingstoke please?
Thanks Rob and yea definitely will be uploading few more soon.
