    crazy ,,but i meant box out the floor in closet or elsewhere

      Never thought about doing that. Well it’s to late now and if they do the job the way we want it we get an extra linen closet.

  • @thankswillie

    i would be temped to let it sit on basement floor maybe under a closet,with floor boxed out...although i dont kmow if that would be code compliant

    • @lakehouse1894
      @lakehouse1894 2 роки тому

      If you mean with the floor boxed out to mean digging a hole in the basement floor to make it fit, that couldn’t be done due to the large rocks under the basement floor.

    I realized I didn’t explain why we had to remove the shower. We have a 4 foot crawl space under the house. Gas hot water heaters are around 5 foot plus chimney and it wouldn’t fit the the crawl space. We eventually will be building another bathroom and bedroom upstairs. This new bathroom will have a full shower. That’s why we want to remove the shower in one piece, but that didn’t work as planned.

    i am so glad you are filming this. all good evidence for the 'breach of contract' site against the builder. YOu are so patient! i would be jumping up and down, (hopping mad). I would think the least they would have done was dry you in, before leaving you to stew at their lack of action. Now, in defense, I do not know the condition of your construction market, nor do I know the company's personnel level. but really!? the crews were there, why did they get pulled off? watching your struggles is both irritating to see and wonderfully educational! thanks for the post

      Mark, thanks for comment, I actually just got off the phone with the builder. The roofer will be there this morning to finish the roof. ( I’ll believe that when I see it) Once the roof is weather tight, they will be removing the wet insulation over the side door entry and replacing the Sheetrock if needed. The living room corner will have the Sheetrock removed and dried out and checked for mold then new Sheetrock installed.

    Interesting video and the two questions that immediately came to mind were ; Why was cabin construction not built with a dedicated hanging point - this would have prevented the damage to the front shell. The men trying to set this cabin up seemed rather remiss when rigging lifting cables / slings as it was obvious the payload on the slings / strops would bear on the edges thus causing damage !

    • @lakehouse1894
      @lakehouse1894 2 роки тому

      We were not crazy how it damaged the siding but it will all be fixed once the siding guy finishes the rest of the house. We hope that will happen this coming week.

    Here is a stupid question sadly. Why a basement that is what appears to be only 4 foot deep.?

    • @lakehouse1894
      @lakehouse1894 2 роки тому

      Not a stupid question. The property is very rocky and if we wanted to have an eight foot basement that would have involved a lot of blasting. We are a retired couple and really don’t need the space. We are downsizing. If you look at our video “6/13/22 footing forms removed” you will see one large boulder on one end.

    So its basically building a pre-built home and removing it from the shipping trailer. It can no longer identify as a mobile home. I've honestly never seen the entire home removed from the chassis like this, awesome stuff.

    • @lakehouse1894
      @lakehouse1894 2 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. There are structural differences between a mobile home and a modular home. Obviously not only the travel from the factory over the roads to the property but the lifting with the crane.

    • @alanhall4226
      @alanhall4226 2 роки тому

      Modular is built per International Residential Building codes which is the same as a on site stick built home, where as a mobile home is built to HUD code basically the same as an RV. You really can't call a Modular a Mobile, apple to lemon.

      Yeah, that stinks. I'm in the same boat. I'm retired and my wife will be in a couple years. Adding the cost of digging out the rocks might make a difference for sure. I'd still want that space just so my kids might need it in the future. Depends on where we end up moving to obviously. Won't have a basement at all in some places.
