Great video!! Thanks for the information .
Another Great video! 🐅🦏
The footage quality in this is gorgeous. What are you using?
Thank you! The Condor and Rhino footage was with my Nikon Z2 and the Tiger footage is on an iphone

That is a very good, tapir mom.
It's a caribou😊
Habitats look pretty green considering the grazing apes and 100 degree weather.
The heatwave this weekend was brutal. However the zoo has very proficient sprinkler systems.
I’m almost 100% positive My wife and I walked past you yesterday morning at the baboon enclosure early in the morning. Were always there Sunday morning. Great video, I’ll say Hi next time I see ya 👋
Do geladas still share their habitat with ibexes?
They don’t anymore, all the Ibex were brought over to the Safari Park and share a space with Barbary Sheep in a yard adjacent to the Asian Savannas. From what I’ve been told, there were some altercations between the Ibex and Geladas that resulted in the change.
@@rjb_wildlife thank you
Thank you for sharing.
What a cute animal~~
so special and so adorable~~

Thanks for another great update!
We had a great time…elephants were amazing
Thanks for the update. It's exciting to get the confirmation on the trailhead for Elephant Valley. The original website described it in that location and I didn't know if that would still be the same case. I've heard the Petting Kraal area will be converted to Tapir Habitat, but I'm not sure if that's still the case.
Great video. Very informative. Congrats on 500 mate! Just earned another sub.
Thank you for the support!
I’m wondering if there’s any viewing of the Pandas in their indoor habitats or is all public viewing of them in their outdoor yards?
There is no indoor habitat space that the pandas have access to outside of their off habitat spaces. They have two spacious yards and the weather is perfect year round for them to be housed outdoors.
That makes sense given that the weather in San Diego is temperate & beautiful year round. I appreciate your footage of the Pandas, the Zoo hasn’t brought back their Panda Cam (not sure if that’s something they’re planning on doing again?) I have to travel from afar to see them so any current pic’s/videos are greatly welcomed .. hoping you provide more glimpses of 🐼YC & XB 🐼 for your viewers!
@@carolinebrady-yo9he they are planning on bringing back Panda Cam, they are just figuring out where they want to set the cameras.
I’m so glad to hear that the Panda Cam will be returning .. that just made my day!
Thank you for such a thorough guide for the pandas, appreciate the tips and effort to get an idea of different times of day! (Also, the audio is perfect now too, thank you 😁).
Thank you for sharing 🥰
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Oh to see those incredibles animals is just awesome thanks for sharing!
I finally got a chance to see them. The glass is pretty terrible. It almost seems more reflective than other glass in the zoo. When I went at 2pm it was rather impossible to see the Panda due to the glare and reflection. They also need to build some standby capacity into each hour. Just letting standby people in when timed tickets do not show was causing quite a bit of upset guests. Especially if you wait that long and can barely see them. If the exhibit has X capacity per hour 60% of it should be given out in tickets and the other 40% dedicated to standby. That way people who don’t get tickets still have more of a shot. Hopefully they smooth the process out.
From what I understand, the glass has a layer of film on it to make it easier to clean or remove any form of vandalism that may happen as unlikely or unfortunate that may be. The standby line is abysmal until around 3pm when timed tickets are no longer available.
I would be interested to know where you were shooting from when you were able to get above the glass.
At the end of the path it doubles back at a slightly higher elevation. I just held my phone up high to get those shots.
@@rjb_wildlife Thank You so if I use a monopod with a gimble and camera controlled by my phone I should be good
500!!! Pandamania!!
Great tips thanks! 🐼 Have you tried a polarizing filter?
I have not, all of the panda footage was shot from my phone.
Thanks for this video!! Have you done the discovery cart tour, and do you think it’s worth it??😊
I have not as of yet, but I do plan to at some point. I’m also planning a wildlife safari at the Safari Park in the near future
Do you know if the takin are kept backstage or to which institution they went to? I loved them 🥹
The Takin are currently back stage, it is unclear whether they will be brought back on exhibit in the future.
We are finally here, it’s incredibly hard to get the footage above the glass… I know you said you use a gimbal, but that must be a luck thing,..so awesome….i am not a videographer, just stills…unless you’re 10feet tall, very hard to get the footage you got
It does loop back at the end so I was able to hold up my phone to get the above glass shots.
❤🥰🐼🥰❤
DAT CUTE
🦁👑😉👍✨
Great video of Bo and all the tips for viewing him!
Any idea when first phase opens for elephant lovers
They just opened up that path way which is technically phase 1, but my best guess would be some time next year for the other habitat and viewing areas as they transition to the main habitat before completion in October 2025.
Thank you for the video, Miami's Zoo was designed after San Diego's. Beautiful spacious sanctuary.💕🙏
Any idea why most of the displays and theming in the Pondok were removed? Really disappointing. Displays removed. Giant unthemed TV now hanging in there.
At the time I filmed this they were doing the “toss the tusk” event at the zoo which was an anti poaching and black market event that used the faux tiger pelt that is a part of the attraction as an example. The TV has always been unthemed and it displays the hidden camera pictures throughout the day as guests walk by the area.
@@rjb_wildlife no the TV used to be in the wooden case below and at least was blended in. The new large one sticks out like a sore thumb. There was a large display in the corner and one on the side that had all of the other animal “medicine” displays. Those both have been completely removed for some reason. I have plenty of pics of how this area used to look if you need refreshing. Tiger Trail is a thematic masterpiece and it pains me when I see things messed with/downgraded.
@@MM-sh2uj I remember seeing everything back there on my last trip, again this was filmed when that event was going on at the zoo where they were using the displays. There was also maintenance going on this same day in this area.
@@rjb_wildlifethey’ve been missing on my last 3 trips from the spring all the way until last June. I really hope they all come back. They add so much and it looks so barren in there. You can even check out the latest Zoo Tours video which highlights Tiger Trail. He even points out those displays missing.

Love your videos and thanks for tips on seeing the male lion! It might just be me, but the music is much louder than your audio - would be great if it was possible to lower the music volume :)
Awesome footage……., …… 1 more week…..tiger viewing above no glass or fence?…thanks for
Tiger viewing is a combination of all three but I’ve never had an issue with the glass and the mesh fence fades out of pictures as long as they’re not close to it. That waterfall viewing spot has no glass or mesh
@@rjb_wildlife awesome , thank you…..Do you know if the wild Sea Lions and seals are still doing well at laJolla?, I
@@richardreynolds8326 I would assume so, I haven’t made my way over there.
Spectacular cat viewing opportunities. Thanks for giving us a moment with seriously dangerous yet breathtaking animals.
Awesome! I loved seeing Bo when he was out on my visit.
🐼可愛❤🐼
We can’t wait…..thanks for the video….1 week away…
Nice video just think how much better it would be if you were not looking through glass.
Agreed, even if it was mesh it’d be better, but it is what it is. They didn’t deviate much from the previous attraction, they just raised the height of the glass. It’s probably much better in the morning.
@@rjb_wildlife I wish that the @sandiegozoo would think of the Animals and the people who visit them. I think most people like to take photos and video of their visit. I guees it could be worse it cound be fencing that is to far away to throw out of focus with the camera Great Job though thank you for braving the heat and crowds I migtht do it myself this weekend and hit Balboa park too.

Overall, a decent renovation. I saw what I was expecting, but the amount of green is nice. The rockwork always looks better when more than half is blocked by evergreen trees. The habitats are vintage San Diego. I just wish the visitor experience was improved and more shade was added. This area can be unbearably hot due to the slope exposure. Smithsonian is still the gold standard to me, and this doesn't come close.
I haven’t been to the National Zoo to see those habitats, but I definitely want to make a trip at some point.
