    This is a really great tutorial, explain nice, just what you need to know but also what happens if you do it other ways and what the consquences are. I have a tip for the joints. You mentioned to click on the face and it turned blue and the selection will stick to that face. What also can do is to hover over the face were the joint need to come. It turns grey, press and hold CTRL, then the face is also selected. You can go to the point you what the joint to and selectd it,

    Thanks for the great tutorial! At 7:24 you somehow separate the lid from the box without an object move appearing in the parametric timeline, can I ask how you achieve this?

    • @learnitalready
      @learnitalready 6 годин тому

      Excellent question. Just click and drag the component off to the side. If you have 2 components and the one you’d like to move isn’t grounded, then just click and drag. If you want it positioned where you move it the click “Capture Position” at the top right of your toolbar. If you’d like it to revert to its original location, then click “Revert.”

    If you are building a shed for use as a studio or shop, code often reads that the max "floor space" is limited to 120sq ft. This means that the internal space is 120sq ft, not the outside footprint. Therefore, your walls can be thicker than 4-5" if needed, and you get full use of the interior 120 sq ft space. Sheds are exempt of a permit when you follow local code specs and generally allow placement at the property setback. As well, cantilevered eves are often allowed to extend beyond the building footprint and can extend into setbacks in some areas up to 3ft. Check your local building code to see if you can include roof extensions to create shade and repel weather. Finally, sheds are generally not allowed electricity running to them, but code does not generally speak about solar. This means that a closed cell battery and inexpensive solar kit from Harbor Freight will provide enough power to light your shed and charge a laptop and monitor with a simple 12v system, much like an RV. Hope this info helps!

    As someone who worked in European top company for designing,development and manufacturing of exterior car parts, especially plastic ones, and as someone whose design is on many cars such as Porsche Cayenne, Land Rover defender, almost all Mercedes cars,etc, and as someone who works on Catia, I can say there is a reason why Fusion360 is not used in a single car company. This tutorial is amazingly explained, its amazing video, i love it very much, but please guys who are watching, acknowledge that this is purely for hobby purposes. Many things are wrong if we speak how it would be designing it in the real sector. Parameters are definitely life saver, so do practice with it, its always useful. Also, if u are interested in automotive industry, please learn surfaces and forget about making manual dimensions or 2D skatches, cuz everything is done in 3D space. Once again, amazing vid buddy, keep educating kids, and keep them motivated to take engineering path. Love yall. Greetings from Europe.

    Great video but something broke. I added parameters but when I changed the width parameter from 75 to something higher or lower, the lid width stayed the same. The Depth worked OK. I'm not sure that when I started the lid I really inherited the geometry from the face of the box. Is there a setting that controls that? When you tested the parameters you showed only the box and not the lid. However, it did work when you showed various configurations. I did not do the configurations as that appears to be a paid feature. I appreciate any comments you have. Thanks. BTW, I've done a lot of your videos and really have learned a lot. Irv in Florida.

    • @learnitalready
      @learnitalready 6 днів тому

      Thanks so much! Don’t worry, oftentimes our model or assembly will break while figuring out parameters, especially late into our design process. Also, in this specific tutorial, parameters will have the same effect as the configurations, because the configurations example is very simple, so all should be good in that regard. Your explanation sounds like something was missed. Again, don’t worry as that sort of thing happens often. I would suggest starting again and check your parameters often throughout the design process. If all parameters work at step 1, then move on to step 2, 3, 4 and so on. If it breaks at a specific step, then you don’t have to start again, but just try me diagnose the error that just happened. Please let me know if that helps. You can also send the file to us so that I can diagnose it. Please don’t forget to like me subscribe (if you haven’t already done so) as it helps to get our channel out into the UA-cam world. Thanks so much!

      @@learnitalready Hi... I restarted like you suggested. I think I found my error or the only thing I might have changed. When I projected the 2 insides, I don't think I had the Projection Link checked. I made sure I did and followed the video. After completing the Lid, I added parameters (even before the Joint) for Depth and Width and then checked to create different Widths...Nothing Broke!! Thanks for getting back to me and now I know something else about Fusion 360. Irv in Florida.

    6 minutes and 30 seconds. Spent a lot of time trying to remember what the symbols on the drawing meant. :) Question: I would really like to change the shortcut for the rotate. My brain really wants that center mouse button press to be rotate and not just move. Is there a way to do that? I think I'm trying to keep my left hand on the escape key like you taught Dan the man in the Udemy course. :)

      Amazing job! So glad that you’re sticking with us and continuing your learning. I would love to know what kind of personal projects you have in mind that Fusion can help with. Sadly, mouse controls cannot be changed much. When you’re ready for it, you can check out buying a 3D mouse which does exactly what you’re looking to do. Here’s a link for when you’re ready: amzn.to/3VZzN8z

      Thank you! Being completely transparent here, I would have done this part very different if a) I had the part in hand and could measure it and b) had to do this part professionally. I was simply trying to help a new user learn some basic skills so he could make this part on his own easily. Super glad that this has been beneficial to many out there!

    Wow! I had no idea. Those formulas are very powerful. Question: The ones in this lesson were scoped to this project. Is there a way to build formulas that can be applied to multiple projects (a global variable)? Very cool!

      Thanks so much for your comment and question. Yes, there is a way. There are actually two ways but sadly I don't have a tutorial made for either one. The first is too complex to describe via a message. The second can be done with exported parameters (the ability to export and import parameters was just released by Autodesk). You have now given me a reason to make a tutorial based off of your question. Thanks!

    Thank you for this very clear lesson on constraints, parameters and the parametric timeline. By the end I was smiling because I learned so much, it all made sense, and got me extra excited to continue to get into Fusion. 👍
