I have couple things you can try with your rooster, he sees you as a threat to his rule. You can hobble him so he can't take a full stride, what I like is take a pantyhose and make a tube that slips over him and holds his wings, then carry him around and set him down. Be consistent like a dog, He'll get the message. Striking at him is the response he is expecting. Action , reward

Simba will adapt. He's enjoying your chair, not hiding. My cat Molly was a stray who wouldn't let me pet her for nearly six months. I gradually got her to get closer to me by playing with toys and feather wands. Eventually she bonded with me and was my buddy for 14 years. Be patient and good luck!

My boy Sullivan came to live with us and his fur brother in October. Sullivan is adopted and FIV positive, like his brother, and still a little standoffish. All we can do is continue to show him that he is very much loved, and hopefully one day he won't ambush me on the way to his food cupboard. Oh, sullivan is also a big tabby, I mean Big ❤❤

I got a cat as a foster home. Picked up on a busy street, he was buddies with another cat, who later got run over, and they were scared that he'll share the fate. I didn't see him for 2 months at all, he was hiding all day from me. At night though, he would inspect everywhere, even comming within 10cm of my sleeping face. I know, because he left dusty pawprints on my pillow. He wouldn't let me pet him for months. What helped was watching TV with him, lots of treats, a lot of time. Cat calming pheromones that you plug into a power socket were also a big help. What got him to interact with me at all, was a cute short video of a female cat that was in an open carrier case, and kept popping out, meowing and getting inside. When he heard those meows, he had to come out and see who it was. It's weird, since I've watched countless videos of cats before, just that specific one he seemed to like more than the others, enough to come out of hiding

He’ll adapt, be patient. It took close to 4 years for my Annie to let me pet her but once she did she was all over me. He’ll progress at his own pace. Thanks for bringing him in 😻
