Potosi Pass to Old Spanish Trail - Nevada Off-roading
Trying to talk my buddies into doing the Matterhorn but they don’t think they can make it as I got the biggest tire on my rig out of all of them and I’m only on a 31 currently. I’ve done that trail but it took a bunch of full sending to achieve it
Love the sound of that HEMI jk. Looks like a great trail.
Hi! Looking to ride this on our dirt bikes. Any places to camp along the way?
Its goler wash which gets you to MENGAL pass. Ok? Get it right.
I've done that trail but with friends. Followed a work crew up, so the gate was open. They left first and closed the gate at the bottom and we had to take the bypass. Nice and hairy! By the way: Potosi is pronounced Like "Vote" with a long "O". Just sayin"
Awesome! That's where Elvis Presley sings Dominic in the movie Stay Away Joe. The clip is on you tube (lol I like Elvis). Going there in November. Wonder what vehicle brought there... Hopefully not a Caddi lol
Thanks for the Video! Heading to Schnebly this long holiday weekend. It will be my first Badge too! I was wondering if you believe going up the west (Sedona) side would be easier than going down that portion of the trail. I am inclined to start from the east (17) side and end on the Sedona side. Do you have any thoughts on this?
@@SharonBridge if I could do it over? That’s how I’d do it. If you stay on the main trail, it’s quite easy. But beware. Some of the side trails can get a little hairy! Hope you have a blast out there!!!!
@@ObscureOffroad Thank you for your reply. Not planning on any side trails this trip. Main road only. That being said I do hope the main road is well marked and easy to follow. Also, is it wide enough for two to pass? I expect there may be others with the same idea this weekend and therefore times when two may have to share the road.
@@SharonBridge you should be fine. There are a lot of parts of the road that are quite wide.
Great video, if you ever head out there again, we would love to join you. We visit Vegas alot, and Utah... we are hosting kayaking trip in Boulder City, and canyoneering event in Red Rock but would love to also do some wheeling around Valley of Fire or muddy mountains..
LOOKS AWESOME! We will be here in September (18-22)... would be our first badge also:) Does the trail take you out one-way or do you back track?
You can do it however you please. It’s a point to point trail so people typically take it either into or out of town. But you could certainly double back if you desire. Easy trail overall unless you add some of the side trails into the mix.
@@ObscureOffroad Thanks 😊
Ive got a couple of vids of me and my boy at that age off roading in Colorado. He is almost 17 now. Still talks about the trips and camping trips. Probably will tell his kids. Good job bud. Also is there camping allowed there?
Thanks for the great feedback and for reaching out! Camping is allowed in some areas, but not all. Most of the areas closer to Sedona do not allow camping. That said, if you drive south from Sedona and cross under the highway, that whole area is BLM land and dispersed camping is allowed. It's about 30 minutes south of Sedona.
You didn't even wheel the trail, you took the road the whole way
@@Bluejeepkid1 yeah this was my first time there. Check out the more recent Rocky gap video we did. We did most of the optional washes with about 4-6” of snow everywhere. Very different experience. I’ve learned a lot over the last year since I started wheeling. :)
Another grand adventure! What a cool 😎 video! Thanks for sharing and producing a killer video.

I was the one that did most the one foot recording
Incredible area!! Was there in March and made a couple videos about it. Prettiest trail I’ve ever wheeled.
It really is a special place…!
Just subscribed to your channel. Look forward to checking out your work!
Beautiful area. Hope you visited Slide Rock State Park. I grew up in Phoenix and spent a lot of time in Sedona and surrounding areas.
We didn't on this trip. This was back in December of 2023. For NO good reason, I edited the first 2 videos from this trip, but procrastinated on the Broken Arrow video until, well, today. :) BUT, I've been to slide rock! I went there when I was a kid with my parents years and years ago! It was amazing and I hope to head back there sometime this summer with my wife now that we live in LV. Cheers!
Great run. Your brain really doesn’t like off-camber, does it!
It was my kryptonite, but I’m getting better about it. We just went back and did little Devil peak again today, which is pretty off camber, but it doesn’t bother me as much anymore.
Now THAT”S how you run Rocky Gap! And in the snow!! That spot you turtled on at 12:15 is where I had to self-extricate. I got a chuckle out of your comment at about 18:00 “never run this alone”. Well, that’s why I self-extricated…I ran it alone. I need to get down there and run some of the other trails I’m discovering through your channel. I’ve done Burro Wash. Now I want to do Copper Cache and others in the area.
I really appreciate the kind words! And yeah, I was pretty overwhelmed doing it in the snow for the first time. It was an amazing adventure! Hit me up if and when you head out this way if you’re interested in riding together! It’s always a pleasure meeting new people with similar interests! Cheers!
@@ObscureOffroad will do!
Love this trail. Too bad you didn’t do the optional washes/rock gardens. That’s where the real fun begins.
We actually went back and did it again and hit almost all of the optional washes. That’s one of the more recent videos. Be sure to check it out! And I agree with you completely! It was a blast…

What size tires were you running ?
I’m running 37” tires and Gary was running 38’s. I can’t wait to go back and do it the opposite direction!

Thanks Jabir!
Great video ❤
Sweet video! Been loving all the content. I went out there last weekend! Made it to about where you guys were at 8:00 then turned around (skipping a couple optional lines). It was about as far as I wanted to go out solo. How much harder is the trail in front? I figure I'll have to hit it up again when some group goes.
Hey there, thank you so much for the great feedback! Much appreciated! I consider that section at eight minutes to be the crux of the trail. Also, if I’m not mistaken, there are actually three different ways to bypass the drop off that Gary and I did. You can go up that hill to the left like some of the other guys did… But you can also bypass the whole really rocky section and avoid going up that steep hill by staying to the left or right before that. Look at the video right at 5:15. Basically, go to the right or left before that rock crawling section if you are by yourself. If you make it through that section at 8:00, you should be able to handle the rest. That said, yeah, definitely recommend going with a group. Much safer that way! Feel free to connect with me on Facebook and we can try to arrange a ride together sometime if you’re interested. We generally go every Sunday, schedules permitting. facebook.com/gjorewicz Cheers!
@@ObscureOffroad I did take the whole bypass to the left for the rocky section. I’ll definitely reach out when I’ve got a free weekend. I’ve got no AC in my Samurai so my wheeling season may be over until it cools back down.
You should be able to keep going through or at least into June. Bring ice water, all the windows down, and go up and elevation. :-) Sounds like a cool rig by the way!
Wow, that was an amazing video, two thumbs up! Great job 💥
Thank you. That means the world to me. Cheers!
Good video. My wife, and I headed to Flagstaff in a couple of days. We'll be taking my Taco on this trail. Looks like a damn good time. We'll be going west to east as well.
Awesome! Thanks for the great feedback. The main trail is very easy but there are some super interesting side trails that are worth checking out IF you’re open to a little more adventure. Here’s my Onx file from the trip. The little side loop in the middle was quite interesting and makes me want to go back to explore more! webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01HXD3VHJ73TYY3Q186A6J9CX3
Also, I shot another video at Broken Arrow but haven’t gotten around to editing that one yet. Coming soon.
The last part with the drone foootage is 💥
Thanks brotha! I can’t help but agree! Very photogenic spot!
Looked like a fun start of the trip. Another good video
Thank you! It’s such a huge place to explore! We got to see Lake Manly too! More to come!
That is a great trip- but did you miss the cabins in Butte valley?
I think we did because we were eager to get back to camp. But we did go check one out the following morning. That’ll be on the next video.
@@ObscureOffroadthat gives you a reason to go back- the other couple plus Barker ranch in goler wash.
I guess the trail has changed in 20 years. I didn’t see the huge boulders, the size of cars! Did they remove them?
Can’t say, but we did bypass the one optional wash that had 2 really big boulders side by side that you have to go over. Was too much obstacle for the conditions.
Great video. That trail on the optional washes is a challenge when it's dry, as you said, add the snow and it's a whole new game.
Exactly. Was an awesome adventure!
Amazing video. When was this filmed??? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It was filmed on 3/31/24. Would love to explore AZ again! Hit me up if you have any fun trips coming up! Cheers!
@@ObscureOffroad Will do. The Crown King area and Prescott has a couple of great runs that would be great for your rig, and what you enjoy. They are not to crazy, with magnificient views of the area. Have you been to Sand Hollow yet?
@@mcoffroadinaz4075 I haven’t, but really want to check it out soon!!! You heading up this way?

Another cool video. I'm not sure how often i'll be doing the boulder/rock crawling like this, but looking forward to doing some fun trails in my jeep.
Honestly, same. My favorite trails are LESS intense for sure! But, it was so beautiful out there with the snow!
Another great video. I’ve just recently come across your videos. So happy see someone local to Vegas doing trails so I can see what is available. Not sure if you have explained in a past video what the specs on your guy’s rigs are. Curious about why the Gladiator took the bypasses? I have a Gladiator and have been wanting to go out on some trails.
Well thank you so much for the kind words! That's awesome! All of our rigs have either 37" or 38" tires, and all have a 2.5" to 3.5" lift. I'm sure Trevor (Gladiator) could have handled more of the washes, and he did do a couple of them. But he also heard my rig grinding on rocks and probably didn't want to damage his rig further. Can't blame him! :) We go out every Sunday if you ever wanna join us!
Looks much tougher with the snow.
@@safepetproducts For sure! Lots of guesswork!
@@ObscureOffroad I have a 22 Rubicon Gladiator still stock height and wheels (33”). I would love to tag along one of these times.
@@safepetproducts I was thinking the same thing. The snow made it hard to see the trail.

That’s awesome. We just did Rocky Gap again 2 weeks ago in the snow and hit most of the optional washes! Can’t wait to see your video! I’m a little behind on editing so that one will be out in 2-3 weeks at most!
Great video.. Drone footage was very cool.
Cool stats.. I'm from Vegas as well. Just got my jeep 2 weeks ago. Need to get some all terrains.. then we'll be doing some off-roading.
Nice ride. Not sure I'd try that in my stock Rubicon.
Yeah, I wouldn’t call that one stock friendly. But you could probably do it if you were with someone and don’t mind getting some bumps and bruises along the way!
Another excellent production, bravo!
Thanks, Trevor! I appreciate you, and had a blast hitting this trail with you and the crew!
I would like a picture of the turn off to the trail head. The Logandale trails are a bit confusing with spurs and side trails and trails that split.
A picture wouldn’t even do it because so many spots look just the same. Would need an onx or other gps trail map to follow.
